Parking in their lot is an additional $15 per car, we left our car at the hotel, Schleppers does all kinds of boat rides and even hosts weddings on their fleet of ferries. They are family owned & operated for over 76 years, and offer the fastest ferries to Mackinac Island. A ride was 16-minutes each way. We purchased our tickets from their website & they were scanned from our phone going in each direction. We sat upstairs, outdoors. There was seating outdoors. Our ferry was half full, there was a lot of extra seat. The highlight of our boat ride was going under the Mackinac Bridge.

We waited and waited and then in mid July we received a letter saying they would only offer anything above the deposit that was paid. $300+ per family, over $8,000 for our school alone. We contacted the company three times asking for an explanation of what the $150 deposit per person was being used for with no response. While I understand this is a hard time for everyone and they made the arrangements they could not provide back up with any invoices or bookkeeping to support their calculations. On top of that the district requires trip insurance, that this company said was included, and then after they said it did not cover anything. In a second letter received by some parents the company had the audacity to lie and say the school canceled the trip and that they offered a discounted trip or credit to the school for the non-refunded deposit. We are a small school and we as parents talk to our school staff all the time. No such offer was ever made to the school. I would not use or trusting this company.

Apparently, she is the daughter-in-law of the recently deceased patriarch of the owner's family. Personally, some of the art is a little too bright and borders on garish colors, but others are quite nice. She has had much artistic training as well as varied exhibits. My favorite piece in her store was a sofa that you see as soon as you enter which she has loving painted on with cheery flowers on the part where your back would be touching while sitting. It is very unique and would be a jewel in any room. It is worth a look see if you are already in the Grand Hotel.

Every surface was cleaned and wiped, even the corners of the room were vacuumed. No signs of bugs besides the ones outside. Very kind staff and the breakfast was good with great hours. They served the usual continental breakfast fare - waffles (including a mini waffle machine!), eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, coffee, juice, fruit, mini muffins. They offer a discount for the ferry, and you can walk there from the hotel. A great place to stay if you're visiting Mackinac!

Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. There was an indoor & an outdoor pool, coin operated washing machines, fitness center, nightly bonfire and playground on the premises. A golf cart shuttled seniors & children around the property.

Mattress was softer than I prefer, but that's personal preference. Armand, his wife and staff were very helpful with questions about where to eat, what to see. While there, met a couple who'd been staying there every summer for many years. Definitely would return.

This is a great state park to visit. I haven't camped here yet, but I've visited multiple times to…read morewalk on the (admittedly short) trails. The trails are well maintained with gravel, although some parts can be muddy if it had rained recently. At this time of year, be sure to bring plenty of bug spray! You can see views of the bridge from several view points, or soak in the woods and wildflowers. If you're not sure what to do, the park ranger in the fee booth has great recommendations, as well as lawn games if you're bored when camping. Note you need to pay an entrance fee if you don't have the Michigan recreation passport (you pay when you register your car in Michigan).

Instead of finding a timely solution, staff offered no assistance, no urgency, and no accountability--just blank stares and an attitude that made it clear they couldn't care less. Despite arriving early and doing everything right on our end, we missed the ferry entirely due to their technical failures and lack of customer service. Not one employee made an effort to ensure we could board or offered any real help. The system is broken--literally and figuratively--and the staff appear either untrained or unwilling to help when things go wrong.

Lots of friendly smiling and welcoming staff. The bed was very comfortable and the beach is dynamic. Perfect view of Lake Huron, and very enjoyable day or night. We had the breakfast both mornings of our stay, and I can only give that 2 stars. It was ok. Felt like a typical "breakfast included" kind of deal. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. The food was 2 stars. Just basic. Coffee was great and like I said I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. I will definitely consider staying here again because the views and beach were gorgeous, the clean rooms and friendly staff are so important, and you're a hop, skip and a jump from Shepherd's Ferry to Mackinac Island from the hotel.
