What a lovely hotel! My mom and I booked it when we decided to add an impromptu Mackinac Island…read morestop to our road trip. I'm a stickler for clean hotels. This one was immaculate! Every surface was cleaned and wiped, even the corners of the room were vacuumed. No signs of bugs besides the ones outside. Very kind staff and the breakfast was good with great hours. They served the usual continental breakfast fare - waffles (including a mini waffle machine!), eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, coffee, juice, fruit, mini muffins. They offer a discount for the ferry, and you can walk there from the hotel. A great place to stay if you're visiting Mackinac!

Our economy room had two queen beds, a refrigerator, microwave with a terrace overlooking the pool. Our room was dated but very clean, quiet and sufficient for two nights. There was plenty of free parking. The motel was right on Lake Huron, the Straits of Mackinac. We are a five minute walk to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. There was an indoor & an outdoor pool, coin operated washing machines, fitness center, nightly bonfire and playground on the premises. A golf cart shuttled seniors & children around the property.

The first night we stayed we had dinner outside on the patio at the club. Thank goodness the place…read morestays open late because we were very hungry and we checked in late. I had the whitefish for dinner with potato puree and garlic green beans. It was very good. I would recommend. We also started with the Yucatan shrimp which was full of flavor. We enjoyed dipping the toasted points into the sauce. Yum! Honestly I didn't go in to my stay here with the highest expectations, but I was very impressed with the service at the hotel and restaurant as well as the cleanliness of our room. Lots of friendly smiling and welcoming staff. The bed was very comfortable and the beach is dynamic. Perfect view of Lake Huron, and very enjoyable day or night. We had the breakfast both mornings of our stay, and I can only give that 2 stars. It was ok. Felt like a typical "breakfast included" kind of deal. The staff was very kind and attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. The food was 2 stars. Just basic. Coffee was great and like I said I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. I will definitely consider staying here again because the views and beach were gorgeous, the clean rooms and friendly staff are so important, and you're a hop, skip and a jump from Shepherd's Ferry to Mackinac Island from the hotel.

Could almost stick my hand under the gap around the door. No extra blankets or pillows. It was a great view out the bank towards the water. Nice employees and breakfast views were fabulous.
