Amazing!! We Loved all the food so much we almost forgot to take a picture!! Whitefish entree was superb! Loved the garlic on the fish and potatoes. Feeding young boys for pre bridge run meal was exceptional as well. All pizzas well blended. Good cheese. Drive to the U. P. To enjoy this amazing waterfront view and restaurant!

This photo shows a bit of the beachfront, 1 of the fire pits, and the outdoor pizza oven and bar. A slice of vacation heaven...

My husband and I stayed at Breakers for 2 nights...a great choice! Our ground-level room was a direct walk to the beach only a few yards away. The staff members were friendly and helpful. The restaurants were delicious, especially the outdoor pizza oven and bar. This is a well renovated older hotel with great amenities. The biggest selling point is that beautiful beachfront. I am already planning my next visit!

The restaurant, called the "Club", is the ONLY jewel of this property. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and although the menu was limited, the food was good and the server attentive. We did not have breakfast or lunch at the restaurant. The hotel side of the property is basically an old dirty worn seaside hotel. Unfortunately for potential guests, the website copywriter is quite the exaggerator, using verbiage that embellishes a bit too much--such as describing the hotel as having "completely upgraded guest rooms." A fresh coat of paint and new bed skirts do not make hotel rooms "completed upgraded," as those items are standard maintenance. The room was small and cramped and it was just two of us. The streaming box and multiple wires just hung from the back of the television. We ended up setting the box on top of the television frame as the streaming kept disconnecting because of the weight of the box pulling on the connection cables. Maintenance using a few zip ties and attaching the box to the back of the television set with velcro strips would have fixed this situation. Instead, it was an unsightly mess. We were warned at check-in that midge-fly season was just ending. Although we did not see one live midge fly, we could not use our balcony as the chairs, deck, door jambs, door sill, everything was covered with dead midge flies--into the thousands! Maintenance should be daily blowing those dead flies off the decks. As you can see from the images, those dead flies had been on that balcony for some time. Balconies need to be power washed and swept clean before guests check in. Sheets were stained, which unfortunately for us, was not discovered until the morning we were leaving. Although our stay was at the beginning of the season following months of the hotel being closed for the winter, it was obvious there was no heavy cleaning done to the rooms before the hotel reopened. Two of the three mornings of our stay, there was no coffee in the lobby by 9:00 a.m. There was a coffee pot in the room, but 5 out of 6 of the pods were decaffeinated. The small beach area, which on the website photo gallery is beautiful with perfectly lined rows on turquoise blue Adirondack chairs, is a jumbled mess. Dark brown chairs have replaced the blue chairs and during our entire stay, maintenance never straightened the chairs. Canadian geese, masses of them, have made the beach their home and the hotel owners have surrendered the beach to the geese rather than looking into ways to deter them. With the "territorial attitude" of the geese and the massive amounts of geese "poop," the beach area is not pleasant. There is no way we can recommend this hotel. Breaker's is the most expense hotel in St. Ignace with water views--our final folio without meals, was just shy of $1,000 for a 3-night stay--and our room was NOT a suite, a deluxe, or a king. So disappointed.

We had a lovely and relaxing time at Breakers Resort. The calmness of this location was much need. On Sunday evening there was live music and the mornings began with a hot breakfast. We were confused with the lack of consistency with what they stated they offered and when they actually did provide it. For example, they did not open for dinner service on one of the nights that were stated as open for dinner. They didn't offer the bonfire each night they stayed they would even though the weather was pleasant. Other that these discrepancies we enjoyed our time.

What a great location with a view of the water. This place has so much potential but needs a little update and attention to details. This place is to nice to be serving a powdered egg mock omelet for breakfast. As you can see in the pic below the cable box is just sitting on the tv with wires all around it. Don't get me wrong, the rooms have comfortable beds and it is a safe place with a friendly staff but put something on the doors to make them close softly. Other hotels have figured this out. Our neighbors never held the door to close it and when it slammed, you would think the TV was falling off the wall. Maybe I am just picky. Yes, I would still stay there again. I just hope someone would see the diamond in the rough and take it to its full potential. The staff is also not wearing any company apparel so it is hard to tell them from the guest except in the restaurant.

A view of the beach from the balcony

I come here because I'm familiar with it. I stayed here on a whim a few years ago and was happy with the relaxed vibes and the nice bar. Stayed again, fell in love with the beach and the bonfires, enjoying the view of Lake Huron. Fast forward to 2025 and I've already stayed here once in May, June, and now July. I love the brightness of the rooms, the balconies or patios depending on floor are a great way to spend the morning or evening watching the sun and moon move across the skies. The staff is always helpful and funny. The bar has great food, have yet to be disappointed in anything I've gotten. The hostess is lovely and the bar (manager?) with the Michigan skull tattoo on his hand is always fun to interact with. Even when I came here in June and the power was out for a little while they did everything they could to make sure the experience was great. I've continued to choose this place, even when the prices are sometimes higher than their competitors, because of the service and the quality of everything and I'll likely continue to do so every time I stay in Saint Ignace. I recommend to all of my friends and family if they are doing anything in the area.

    Sunrise

We loved the sunrise you could see at this resort. They have a nice beach. The restaurant at this resort was nice and you could see the water and Mackinaw island from your table.

Loved sitting on the patio. All the food was wonderful. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked. Hidden gem say. Kids enjoyed being near the beach. Plan on sitting and enjoying the view and not rushed in and out. Cocktails were strong.

Just an aweful experience fridge was on the floor and bed was half way to the ceiling. A person like myself with back trouble could not get into that bed Slept on the chair for the night Terrible experience

Friendly staff - Room was clean and comfortable- location is great - Restaurant was frustrating. I had pizza (less than average). And my wife had a fish sandwich ( better than average). Service was bad - after we ordered it took 50 minutes to get our food and we never saw our server again until the food arrived. All in all we enjoyed our stay and the view of the lake is excellent. Rooms have been recently renovated and are nice. Due to COVID-19 your complimentary breakfast is a cup of cereal, apple, muffin in a bag with a cup of OJ. Given the current situation this was fine and we appreciated their efforts for keeping everyone safe. Everyone was super friendly. I would recommend exploring some other restaurants in the area though. We would stay again.

"In and around the lake Mountains come out of the sky and…read morethey stand there" (Yes) What a pleasant surprise! The Holiday Inn Express at St. Ignace sure didn't feel like a Holiday Inn Express. First of all, it has a beach, a big grassy communal courtyard, and chairs where you can sit at the waterline and listen to the seagulls that chitter and chatter like crazy. The beach scenery is gorgeous, and the views of the bay and Mackinac Island are gorgeous. The beds are comfy, the HVC and Wi-Fi work great, and the shower may have been the best hotel shower I ever had. Super pressure and plenty of hot water. Oh, and we had a balcony with a great view of the beach and the courtyard. But the biggest surprise was the amazing breakfast variety and the stellar breakfast service by Sheila and Melissa. They ran around at full speed, cleaning, wiping, refilling and straightening non-stop. As for the breakfast foods, there was a bounty of egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, turkey and pork sausage links, biscuits and gravy, a pancake machine, Cereals, Yogurt, gooey Cinnamon buns, Oatmeal, breads, muffins, bagels, apples, oranges, bananas, and more. Our two-night stay cost us $540.50 after taxes. We could not have been happier with our stay here. Five stars all the way.

We stayed in room 119 - should definitely be a king room vs 2 double beds. Barely had enough room to sneeze and the noise from guests above sounded like romper room with a heard of kangaroos all evening & night. The shower area had peeling paint & needs fresh caulk. Spotted a long black hair in toilet area stuck to wall, door, & hinge. The curtain over the AC needs to be shorter to not interfere with air flow & had black mold on the inner sheer one - double yuck After a long day of traveling we didn't appreciate hearing vacuuming outside our door at 730pm & than again at 930pm. Only hubs had breakfast & coffee - which he said was good & hot!! They did welcome our pet & had a great area for walking & bathroom breaks for him. We thought the Mackinac City property was the worst IHG property we've stayed at - this one is slowly catching up to it, sadly! The newly renovated lobby floor looks spectacular-as does the fire pit & patio!! That was being remodeled last time we stayed here!

Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. I don't know what the prices were when he started coming here, but I was able to book 2 rooms for three nights for cheaper than it costs to stay on the island in one room for one night. Sorry about the flashback to math class, people, but this is an economics lesson where you'll want to pay attention. There is a log cabin kind of feel to the architecture. And, in another throwback to a bygone age, the doors use keys...actual, metal keys, not plastic cards. Outside the room, you'll find gas barbecue grills with tongs and other tools to enjoy your home away from home. While the room itself seems humble, it does contain most of the amenities you would expect. It's spacious. The beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a mini fridge, but unfortunately no microwave. And the restaurant is just a few steps away from your room, and it's excellent. One thing you would not expect, however, is a mind-boggling array of on-demand programming on your flat screen TV. Dozens of shows are available from maybe 30 different networks. And, it's no extra charge for any of it. Even if it weren't for all this, the location itself is perfect. Directly across the street are two Mackinac Island ferry terminals. I'm not exaggerating: they're literally across the street. That $27 you pay for a round-trip ticket is a heck of a lot cheaper than you would pay each day to stay on the island. Economics, people. So, go ahead and get a second mortgage to pay for a stay on the island. I will keep on coming here and enjoying all the great benefits, while also having money left over to actually pay for things to do on the island.
