Lovely little campground! We planned a very last minute trip to Mackinaw and TeePee had some availability. Bathrooms are very clean and the family that owns it is very nice and accommodating. we don't have a water hose quite long enough and they let us borrow one. our site was closer to the from and nearer to the road and it the noise from the road was quite loud during the day, but the further back you went the quieter it got. The beach is sandy but waters are rocky so bring those water shoes, but the water of Huron was so crystal clear and clean. My friend and I were in a motorcycle trip and needed a place to camp last minute. Found this place and stopped in! Perfect campsites for a tent and 2 bikes, owner in the shop even knocked a couple bucks off the lot so we each only paid $20 (split the cost). They had a cooler full of beer and other drinks and when I bought a bundle of wood, they threw in a roll of fire starters for free! Super nice people, and a cool little campground to stop in at! When we decided to take a few day camping trip in Mackinaw City, I was amazed at the lack of reviews on the few campgrounds in the area. After much searching, I decided that Tee Pee Campgrounds looked like the best bet. I admit, I was worried, the reviews I read online all sounded so similar and glowing I thought they may be false. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't. We arrived to find a small campground of somewhere around 65 campsites. It is owned by a couple and very cozy. The campsites themselves are a little on the small side. We had 5 adults, a pop-up camper and 2 vehicles. It was a tight fit, but it worked. Due to the smallish site, we decided against putting up the screened in porch-like part of our camper. It would have practically been on top of the (immovable) fire pit. The thing that got the most glowing reviews from other sites was the bathrooms. I admit, the bathrooms were clean. There was only 1 bathroom building with 4 or 5 toilets and 3 showers (in the women's at least) The first day we got there (a Wednesday) it was super clean. I would often see the owners cleaning the bathrooms throughout the day. However, there was one time when one of the toilets was clogged for most of the day. Also the last day I was there, I noticed that 4 large spiders had taken up living over the door inside. I didn't notice them originally, so I think it may have been a new thing. The Camp Store was a bit lacking. It was very small and had some essentials (s'more fixings, ice, wood, etc.), but I was highly disappointed in the candy choice. We camp often and one of my favorite things is to buy candy from the camp store. This store had little to choose from and mostly regular candy bars. But that's just my personal choice. One thing to mention is that on their website it talks about free WiFi at your campsite. I choose not to bring my laptop and just use my phone instead, so I can't comment on the speed or connection. But I did see the sign in the bathroom that talked about the "free" WiFi. It's free for 30 minutes a day, then you have to pay. So if you plan on taking advantage of the free WiFi, be aware that it's limited free. There was a beach which was nice with a gorgeous view of the bridge. It also stated on their website that they have a bonfire on the beach every night weather permitting. We did see the bonfire going nightly, but didn't ever stop to enjoy it. This campground also offers a shuttle to the ferry, which we didn't use. Overall this campground was a quite and well maintained place to stay. Quite hour starts at 10, and it was also quiet. We stayed out past then and enjoyed the family around our campfire without any problems. There were often people walking around during the day and night. We plan on staying here again and enjoying it's location and cleanliness. read more

Pros: Very nice campground and beautiful views. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. People are very friendly including the owners and staff. Also I asked for a couple specific things and they were more than accommodating with my request. Will probably try again with hopes of maybe getting a bigger site as would like to bring our kids and their family. Cons: The only thing was the cramped sites. You have to practically park in the road as no room for vehicle. Then the door to our camper was right beside the fire ring so didn't use it only once. If someone would have been in the next lot we would not been able to enjoy even sitting outside. We have a small 29 ft camper. Don't see how anyone could use this site with anything bigger. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars for a couple reasons. Pros: Beautiful view of mackinaw bridge and the island, pretty clean, family friendly, close to lots of stuff, camp store is nice Cons: Lots are tiny, showers are kinda sucky (water pressure), very outdated even though it says "newly renovated bathrooms", charges for more than 4 people Other: if you know the owners, you could get away with anything. That being said, another con is we had very loud, drunk neighbors that were disruptive every night until about 1am and they were good friends with the owners so they didn't get in trouble. Won't be coming back, but it's a decent place if you're not staying long. read more

After 6 hours drive we were super giddy and excited to camp in mackinaw and stargaze and it all changed as soon as we got into this place. From being all smiles to night ruined and feeling down. Here's what happened, we pulled into the entrance and drove past the check in office. Never being at this location I decided to look at our site and that was a huge mistake. I assume the owner of the property pulled up in the gator and cut off my vehicle. Jumped out and immediately started berating me over passing the office and going passed the 5mph speed limit. I immediately apologized and said I'd come back to the office but that did not satisfy his appetite for confrontation. He continued to yell that I need to "stop at the damn office" and if I "know how to read". After he drove off the family all shocked agreed we were no longer comfortable staying there. We proceeded to drive up to the office and tell him we were no longer interested in staying at the site. He asked why I had a chance of heart I told him the way he talked to us was not ok and then he began to yell over me and told me that MAYBE he'll refund me one day worth of deposit. I then asked for a receipt showing that I requested the cancellation. That set him off he started going on a tirade that I don't belong there anyway and that he didn't want me there from the moment he seen me. I asked him to stop acting like a child and to learn to run a business at that point he got out of his seat and rushed me like he wanted to fight. He told me I'd better leave or he will call the police. At that point I walked away and he followed me out the door and said I'll find it where you're staying tonight and took pictures of our vehicle. I hate to say this but I have a weird feeling he doesn't like me because I was Hispanic. His response was so unprovoked and disproportionate to the situation AND I strongly caution anyone that wants to come here to think again. Btw the camp site itself was not what I expected we ended up staying at mill creek and the people and staff there where phenomenal with a huge selection of camping much cleaner and more space in between camp spots.....DO YOUR FAMILY A SERVICE AND GO TO MILL CREEK AVOID TEE PEE. Ok I haven't camped in 20 years so my star rating may be novice at best, but I had a great time at the Tee Pee campground, it is a great place! So we started off our vacation in a hotel in Mackinac, directly on the beach as we normally would every two years. My father-in-law has an RV and asked if we wanted use it, and stay just down the street at the Tee Pee campsite. What a great decision that was! It's a completely different vacation experience from staying in a hotel versus camping. My 8-year-old and 11-year-old had an experience they will always remember. If we had just stayed in a hotel for vacation I don't think they would remember much of that at all. The smells alone walking by each of the campsites in the morning going out to the beach was incredible. Every kind of good cooking smell you could think of we passed by. People cooking bacon, sausage, eggs, and just running around having fun was a very positive atmosphere. In the evening every other campsite has a fire going cooking marshmallows or some kind of meal that smells as equally good as the morning time crew cooking food. This campsite is right next to all of the beachfront hotels and has equally the same beach access and view. The management/owners are very proactive on checking over the community to make sure nothing is out of sorts. They seem to be very concerned that the campground is very family oriented. I felt like we could have left our RV unlocked all day while we were gone and not worried at all about someone bothering our stuff. read more

This is my second year and third camping trip at Teepee. It's good enough to come back but there's areas that need improvement. The camp store has more of a gift shop vibe than a camp store vibe. They have a few staples but not as many as other campgrounds we have visited have offered. You share hookups which is fine but our particular site- our neighbors pretty much had to run their cord through or right near our fire pit if they wanted to use it. I feel if employees actually walked the grounds they would find the same giant family that was there our year prior leaves several dogs unleashed. We had them next to us again this year with the same situation. The dogs seem unfriendly by while going to pet one going through our lot it's owner warned us that it bites. I quite loudly said to leash your dog if it bites and nothing I had kids with me. Later I watched their dog poop on our lot in which I bagged and left on their lot where it remained until I left. Another heaping pile stayed by the swings Saturday and Sunday from one of their dogs pooping during Friday fireworks. Nuisance neighbors really is the biggest downfall and the easiest thing to fix just by walking and seeing how your guests are acting. read more

The campground is little which is the only thing that was good about it. The beach was not kid friendly at all as it states online the pictures are not what it seems. The bathrooms where very dirty and the management was extremely rude to us when we had a problem with other campers I was told to grow up and act like an adult when in fact I didn't even get a chance to speak I was just being shouted at by the manager my kids were told they couldn't play on the two playground toys they had because they were having a concert in the nearby grass and when I confronted them because of it I was shouted at again and told to not come back to the cramp ground which is not problem at all because we wouldn't come back here if it was the last place open read more

Very simple and rustic campground that tries very hard to be nice. We enjoyed a beautiful free campfire on the beach with a wonderful view of the Mackinaw bridge in the evening. Sites are small but the cost is cheap. Bathrooms are typical for a small mom and pop campground. read more

The tee pee campground is the only place I'll ever camp at in mackinaw city. The people are always friendly and the bathrooms are always clean! It has a great view of the bridge as well as the island. They offer a shuttle bus to the ferry docks also. Definitely the best place I've seen so far to camp at! read more

The only reason for 4/5 stars is because I was in need of laundry facilities and there are none here. It is a well-maintained campground directly on Lake Huron. It was quiet with lots of trees. Best of all, it has a free shuttle pick-up for the ferry to Mackinac Island. We left our RV for a night so we could spend the night on Mackinac Island. Very convenient! read more

Arrived without reservation then charged $3 reservation fee. Told the charge was automatic even though I did not make reservation. Didn't think they would would stoop to the level of the airline industry: charge a fee just because they want to. In my 10+ years of RV'ing I can probably count on one hand when I was actually sad about leaving a campground and I wanted to figure out a way to stay longer. Departing from Tee Pee Campground is one of them.
