Site 20 St. Ignace KOA

This property obviously gotten a bad reputation in the past. However, it is apparent that they are making improvements to the site and they are noticeable improvements. Like many KOA's the sites are close together and often off a main road so there can be more noise then a secluded park. However, the staff was friendly and helpful which is always important when traveling with kids. My only complaint would be that the sewer hook up in our site ran slightly up hill, which is a little bit of an issue but not unmanageable. There was a bit of separation between the sewer drop and the electric pedestal as well, so if we wanted to pull up to make the drop more usable like it should be we would have had to attach an electric extension - again manageable but not something you may not expect before arrival.

Nice campground. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The glamping sites have a nice deck and look great.

My husband and I love this camp ground and we can't recommend it more to our family and friends visiting mackinaw island. The lake front sites are amazing. We have both stayed in a camper and tent and both times we had great experiences. We just visited a few weeks ago and although it was cold we enjoyed the amazing sunsets, our camp fire 20 feet from Lake Michigan and the amazing sounds of the lake. We stayed at site 212 which is right on the Lake not too far from the pool and main bathroom and showers. We were able to purchase firewood and other miscellaneous items that we forgot at the camp store. We didn't arrive till 10pm and the check-in was closed but they left a map with written directions on how to navigate to our camp site! The bathrooms and showers were clean and maintained often. Our site was perfect for a popup but may have been too small for a larger camper. We will always recommend camping when visiting the island as it is a wonderful way to see everything and we didn't break the bank.

We went with the site with a fire pit instead of one with a cabana, but this was a lot of fun. I can't wait until they get their new clubhouse done!

As is to concur, a staff member brought the trailer pictured below to greet nearly fifty luxury motorhome brand rally attendees. Tensions escalated and a fistfight ensued, police were summoned. Two people, one the owner of the trailer in question, were taken into custody. Rest assured the majority of owners, and the Board of Directors itself, are dedicated to making Hearthside Grove a welcoming destination where ALL Class A motorhome enthusiasts will feel welcome and unmenaced. It is a work in progress, and we're doing everything we can do, as a community, no thanks to the political activists that marred our 2024 season. Stay tuned as 2025 comes and goes: in the coming years, we all hope Hearthside Grove will regain its stature as a destination for all.
