So this is my second "mystery spot" and it's pretty close to the same thing as my first. The difference is the price. The mystery spot in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky was $1 for the guided tour. This place set us back over $50 for the four of us. Yikes! As for the experience, they do a good job with it. Out tour was given by a high school kid who did a good job telling the story and letting everyone try the gravity defying tricks. My kids liked it. Is it fun for adults? Well, I enjoyed it but that's mostly because my kids were enjoying it. My favorite part if when feeble minded adults on the tour seem to be questioning gravity and space & time. So maybe if you know that you're not the sharpest knife you should go and prepare to have your mind blown. We did the zipline too because the kids begged us. Not a bad deal but if you're some sort of regular zipliner, it might not be all that thrilling for you.

It's the kind of place where you embrace it for what it is, give in to the shared experience, ignore your intellect, and go for it. You'll stand sideways. You'll sit on the wall. You'll see water run uphill. You'll literally climb the walls. (Yes, literally.) All in a little shack covered by a tarp behind a store selling rubber tomahawks. And t-shirts. Go. Just go.

Great for kids but also a blast from the past for adults (any of you went to Irish Hills as a kid)? On this trip, I went with a mix of age ranges and everyone had a big smile as well as a laugh or two. The whole tour lasts about 20 minutes so its on the pricey side for such a short amount of time ($6 for kids 12 and under, $8 for adults). If you are easily nauseated, use a cane or walker, the Mystery Spot could be a bit of a challenge. This is because the house is tilted so trying all the 'tricks' like standing on a wall, getting yourself out of a chair, etc. become more of a full body exertion rather than a common task. If you decide to do zip lining afterwards, make sure you tell them you've been through the tilted house and you'll get $5 off. The gift shop is full of funny trinkets and items that feature the Yooper dialect. All in all, we had fun but once was enough for me!

We went for the mystery spot tour and zip lining. We had a lot of fun and it was reasonably priced. The staff was really kind and welcoming.

Great for elementary aged kids. My 8 yr old loved the Mystery Spot. Yes it's a little pricey, but it's a tourist trap. If you are expecting anything else then you are vacationing in the wrong place. The kids love the story and love trying to figure out the "mystery". Kids 4 and under are free. We also did the maze and putt putt golf. Both very basic, buy again great for younger children. The restroom was one of the cleanest I've seen in a place like this. Very well taken care of. Our tour guide Taylor was awesome!

The zip line is a little pricey, but the kids loved it. We would consider it again if we were ever back in the area.

Prepare to be underwelmed. I don't want to spoil the $9 surprise. Don't go out of your way to check this place out though.

We did the $27 deal, where you can play mini golf, zip line, do the maze, and go through the mystery spot.

We were looking for an adventure with our new-ish kayaks. We fortuitously read a Michigan tourism magazine tucked into the Chicago Tribune; the magazine featured a story about kayaking in Les Cheneaux with Woods & Waters. It sounded great! Though we are comfortable on the water, we thought it would be good to have a guide in an area new to us -- and Tim was a perfect guide for our half-day paddle! We learned so much about this beautiful and interesting area, saw an eagle and its nest, did a quick mid-paddle hike to get an amazing view to go with our rock skipping and gained a few kayaking skill tips that will make us better kayakers. It certainly was a bonus that the water and weather cooperated -- water like glass and just enough sun. Tim - thanks for the advice to do the Narnia hike - that was our afternoon adventure! We ended our day at Les Cheneaux Distillers. The day couldn't have been better. We loved our paddle so much and felt comfortable with our newfound knowledge from Tim that we went back for a quick paddle the next morning. We wish we could have stayed on the water all day! Thank you Sue and Tim. We will see you next time!
