My favorite piece in her store was a sofa that you see as soon as you enter which she has loving painted on with cheery flowers on the part where your back would be touching while sitting. We were there end of May beginning of June and the weather was high 60s/low 70s so the heated pool was so nice. The hot tub even nicer! The room was clean and spacious! The staff was amazing. So nice, accommodating. Bed was very comfortable but like all hotel rooms, the pillows were too soft for me. The room had a small fridge and microwave as well as a single cup coffee maker. The breakfast was good. Hot breakfast but still a hotel breakfast. Again, the staff so nice and accommodating! Always asking if you need anything. Each night there is a lakeside bonfire with s'mores! 5 min walk to the Sheplers ferry or if you tell the front desk, they will order you a shuttle so you don't have to pay the crazy prices!!!

Mattress was softer than I prefer, but that's personal preference. Armand, his wife and staff were very helpful with questions about where to eat, what to see. While there, met a couple who'd been staying there every summer for many years. Definitely would return.

Our experience at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was disappointing and did not live up to the…read morehotel's reputation. The experience started poorly with the unwelcoming rude behavior of the attendants "guarding" the entrances. I was surprised to learn that there is a $14.00 entrance fee per person just to walk into the hotel if you are a "non guest". When I inquired about the admission fee I was told I should be happy with the fee as guests that stay the night typically pay up to $1400.00 per night so $14.00 was not a bad price. I found this response very unprofessional, dismissive and rude. We went in for drinks and apps and found the food to be mediocre at a hefty price. I have traveled extensively in the states and abroad and I found the interior decor to be very gaudy and ostentatious, with an overall feeling of excessivesness rather that elegance. While I understand the hotel has a very distinctive historic style I personally did not find the interior appealling. The one positive aspect of the visit was the beautiful view from the very large front porch. Overall, I found the experience overpriced and disappointing. A hotel with this reputation and pricing should provide courteous, welcoming services to ALL visitors. The beautiful setting and porch views are impressive but in my opinion do not make up for the overall experience ,
