Having returned to Wild Beer multiple times, I am always impressed and happy with my visits. With a…read morelarge, varied draught beer selection, you can sample delicious domestic and foreign beers. Wild Beer also serves a simple and yet refined food menu--British gastropub faire. They are proud of their hamburger, and they have a right to be. It's hard to improve upon an experience of a beer and a burger, but Wild Beer manages to take it to the next step. Check out this restaurant if you're looking for classy food and beer in a down-to-earth, casual environment.

I've been to Wild Beer a few times now (by virtue of it being dangerously close to where I live!) -…read moremost recently for an eye-opening beer and food matching on a Brewerism walking tour (which I can also strongly recommend!) So let's get one thing straight - Wild Beer is a specialist beer bar, probably more at home in Bristol or London than Cheltenham, which has a small (but growing) craft beer scene. Their beers range from tasty modern styles (bibble and fresh strongly recommended for hop lovers) to weird and wonderful (salty lemon sours and cucumber ale!) - if you're into the modern trend of sour beers, then this is your place! If you like to drink lager by the pint, put that to one side and give 2/3 something new, unique challenging. You'll not regret it and the staff will help you pick out sonething you'll like. The staff are very helpful and more than willing to let you have a few tastes. In short, Wild Beer is great - get down there and show your support for craft beer in Cheltenham! (oh and the food is pretty good too - try the ribs from the small plates, yum!)

The service was very friendly and despite our large party, all needing separate checks, there wasn't a problem at all. The food was truly amazing and everyone in our party loved their lunch. Aside from the delightful historic pub and excellent food, another nice bonus of Seven Tuns was the pub cat Nebula. Overall, a wonderful experience!

We stopped in here for lunch before heading over to see Chedworth Roman Villa. It's a lovely old…read more(400+ years) country pub. The pub area still retains the old feel but the dining room has been updated with more modern decore. There is a bit of seating out front and a nice garden in the back. On draft they had a small selection of quality ales from Cornwall along with the usual Guinness, Carlings, etc. The real standout for me was Young's Bitter which isn't common around Cheltenham. Their lunch menu isnt't huge, but it was extensive enough to cover everyone's tastes. My only gripe was that their sandwich selection was fairly small and was all on ciabatta bread, which isn't my favorite. Still, the steak sandwich was excellent and the addition of capers was a nice touch. My wife's mother had the shepherd's pie and my wife had the fish cakes, both of which were also very good. If you happen to be out for a hike near Chedworth or are heading to the Roman Villa I highly recommend at stop at the Seven Tuns. If nothing else it's a convenient place to grab a pint.

It also has an area for bands to perform and regularly has band nights to go to ( some are free others are super cheap). I'm pretty sure it still has pool tables upstairs too, so if you're looking to pass some time on a Sunday afternoon, it's a great place to spend with friends. If you're not a student, then this place is "ok". I wouldn't avoid it necessarily, as the staff are always nice, but it is more of a grungy type of place, and unless you're wearing all black, with a lot of eyeliner on (just the boys), then you'd probably be more comfortable down the road at a bar in the middle of town.

They closed the kitchen down due to cost and space issues and it now has a bring your own food policy. This is pretty good until evening comes around and you get the stench of a dozen different take-away food smells... In the summer you can escape the smells by sitting in their beer garden. The staff are pretty nice and prices are standard. Also, if you like playing pool, they have 4 tables upstairs. They also have a sofa up there- my friend and I snatched it to escape the noise yesterday. Its a busy place and not much is wrong with it but like the star rating says "Meh. I've experienced better". Thats not to say, in a pinch I wouldn't return..
