Our sweet boy Mox had to come in this morning because he wasn't feeling well, the went above and beyond to accommodate us at the early hour and treated him well as he stayed there through the day, when I picked him up they went over all they did and all we needed to do, had a plan printed out for future care and seemed to love Mox as much as he loved them. I also left something at the counter and they went out of their way to make sure I got it back today. Thanks so much!!!

    Their service was amazing!

    Do they accept emergency walk-ins?

In certain situations, and definitely not on weekends. It would be better to take your pet to Out West Veterinary Urgent Care, which wasn't in business five years ago when this question was asked.

We feel they honestly care about our pets, and will often ask affectionately about those who aren't with us when we're there. I also like being able to board our dogs and groom them at the vet's office, in case they need medical care for any reason. We honestly believe our pets live long lives because of the attentive, knowledgeable care they receive at Chestnut. When our beloved husky-shepherd cross was dying at nearly 14, they made it possible for us to bring our other dogs when he was put to sleep so that they would understand what happened and wouldn't be waiting for him to come home. Our older collie is now getting close to 14 years old, and is doing well, thanks to the expert care her heart problems and arthritis receive from our friends at Chestnut Small Animal Clinic. If you're looking for a vet in the Conway area, I don't believe you could do better than Chestnut! In fact, one of my friends drives her dogs from Little Rock because she's been so pleased with the service and care here. I would drive farther than that if I had to! We feel so pleased with and loyal to this veterinary clinic.

Almost a decade of charted issues and routine check ups. Somehow, his back tooth got bad enough that it got infected. Took him in on a Thursday and the vet prescribed him NSAIDs. Now, at this point, I have no idea. I'm not a vet. I trust the professionals. By Friday night he is puking up blood. Hartman closes at 5pm, this happened literally at 5:15 pm. So I hope for the best and plan on taking him in on Monday. He wound up having to go to the emergency vet because he started wailing in pain toward Sat night. Come to find out, NSAIDs are not good for gastrointestinal sensitive patients and is ultimately what caused his internal bleeding. Why was he prescribed NSAIDs with his charted history. A simple google search of "should you give NSAIDs to someone with GI issues" returns a resounding NO. Yet they did and my dog is no longer here because of it. My GFs dog, who grew up with my Schnauzer, was a long haired Daschund. After he was 10 years old, Hartman said over and over that his teeth were getting bad but at his advanced age, wasn't a good idea to be put under. Fast forward SEVEN years later of this being the same narrative when we would take him in and say "maybe we need to pull some teeth here". Nope, he's too old for that. Well, finally, his teeth abscessed and Hartman finally agreed to put him under and do some surgery. They cleaned his teeth and pulled a few and assured us he should be on the right path. Less than a month later we were back in their office because his mouth was worse. The infection was so bad it had eaten away some of his upper pallet and was rotting through the outside of the skin (see below EDIT: couldn't post due to it being graphic because his little face was THAT BAD). They FINALLY realized they fucked up and referred to us to Memphis to a vet that specializes in dental issues. They were appalled at his condition and could not believe that he had been under the care of a licensed Vet, much less Hartman who they take referrals from all the time. This vet is like a bad PCP. Cookie cutter diagnosis, always by the book even when the patient presents with obvious symptoms, nope, by the book. One dog died due to their negligence and my other dog suffered needlessly for YEARS with infected teeth because the book said it was risky to do a teeth cleaning on a dog that was 10. He lived until 17 AND HAD SURGERY AT HARTMAN at 17 years old. Had they taken his teeth more serious (and shame on me for "trusting" the professionals against my better judgement, a mistake I will not make again) my sweet little guy would have had a much better quality of life in his golden years. **I kept this all to myself for a few years until I realized they are paying to be promoted on Google as a top result. Please take your beloved animals anywhere else**

I was nervous about having our cavalier King Charles spaniel groomed at a chain store franchise. Full disclosure: About 20 years ago, a friend of mine had to put his dog down because a groomer broke the little cocker spaniel's leg, and it could not be reset. Until now, we have had all our dogs groomed at the groomer housed within our vet's office, which is reassuring to me. But, our regular groomer's earliest available appointments are now in SEPTEMBER! Our little cavalier was getting pretty matted, so I was forced to look elsewhere for her health and safety. When I went in to book the appointment, there was just one woman in the grooming area (which is completely viewable through glass from the store areas), and I had to wait a little bit for her to get to a stopping point with the dog she was grooming so she could take my information. I was grateful for the time to observe not only the worker, but the dog, to see how stressed or nervous he seemed and how she handled him. The dog was very calm while she worked on his foot pads, and she was not hurried or abrupt with him. Assured enough by all of this, I booked a Saturday noonish appointment for our little Betty. When we arrived, we noticed the woman checking in the dog ahead of us, asking a lot of questions about cut, services, etc. The woman who checked us in wasn't as personable, and given Betty's fur matting, was NOT encouraging; basically, she showed us a swatch of fabric "fur" to show us that they would shave Betty everywhere. We were a little upset because the cavalier coat is not ideally to be cut at all, but due to our own delay in getting her groomed, she was going to have to have some mats cut out. But that seemed a little aggressive to us! We kept talking to her about what could be kept and brushed out, and when we left, we saddened and nervous about what we would get when we came back three to four hours later to collect her. They called about four hours later and said she was ready to pick up, so off we went. We waited while they went to pick her up, and when she came out, we couldn't believe it! We were prepared for bald Betty, but she came out fluffy and beautiful, mat free, with pretty little bows in her "pigtails" (her ears). We had stipulated we wanted her fluffy little hobbit feet left long, too, and they were trimmed and shaped, looking fabulous. There were some shaved areas, but they were well camouflaged. Seriously, she looked AMAZING! We took our sales slip to the check out at the front of the store (she was $40, which I signed off on when we took her in), and I got $10 cash for the groomer. I went back and said, "I have a tip for Beth..." not knowing who she was. The personable, energetic woman we had seen initially upon arrival said, "I'm Beth!" and we talked to her about how happy we were with the quality of the cut and she explained what she had done and how mindful she had been of what we wanted. I will happily return with any of our dogs here, but only if I can make a Beth-specific appointment. She was awesome!
