When I realised my friend's wedding was to be in North Wales, pretty much in no mans land, I wasn't…read moresure if we'd be able to find somewhere to stay nearby so easily. Fortunately, it had already been planned that we ought to stay at the Beaufort, and even better, I had little to do with the organisation of the rooms. Happy days!
We arrived in good time considering we'd driven from Leeds, under 2 hours, and found the hotel with ease. (I suppose, mostly, thanks to maps and an iPhone.) Even so, it seems like a good location and not too tricky to spot. It's a fairly big place, so you're likely to find a room there with ease, should you need to be in the vicinity.
The lady at reception was fairly friendly, and even sorted it that we could check in half an hour early, which was excellent since we had but 30 minutes to dress for said wedding. I had planned ahead and performed my make up in the car, but we had to get changed and faff about a bit also.
The room, a twin, was fairly decent if a little 'retirement home' in the decor and presentation. Even so, I'm not fussy, and it came complete with teas and coffees, a wee TV and plenty of space to put things. The bathroom was spotless and it was very tidy, without a hint of the previous guests, for which I'm always grateful!
The rooms are old school, so you get an actual key, as opposed to the new fangled key cards. The lobby has a grand air and the breakfast the next day was definitely adequate. Plenty of breakfast items to choose from, including eggs, bacon and the like. I opted for a few mini croissants, but sadly they were a touch stale. The juice, however, seemed to be freshly pressed - this was more than welcome after the heavy night! Later, a waitress came and offered me tea or coffee, and I got a huge pot of freshly made coffee to myself. Lovely!
Lastly, the hotel was really helpful in helping us find a taxi firm to take us to the station the following morning. Win. It's perhaps not the most exciting stay I've had, but it totally did the job. I think rooms start at about £95, which isn't *too* bad, given what you get. They've a bar, restaurant and such as well. A pleasant stay!
