Upgraded to an executive room - lovely! You'd fit a family of four in the bed...
Gem S.

This hotel is nothing short of expectations - it's gorgeous inside, having undergone some renovation and redecorating very recently, and the grounds and spa garden are equally beautiful, as is the view over the hills of the Welsh Borders that we got from our room. We stayed for a wedding which got u. A little discount so chose to upgrade to an executive room. Really spacious, well turned out with great ambient lighting and a strip light in the wardrobe too! (I need one of those at home) The tea and coffee facilities were ample and the fact they put Yorkshire Tea in the rooms gives it an extra star for me every time! The bed could fit a family of four, and was exceptionally comfortable although a late night and a good wedding reception meant I didn't get to spend much time in it! I'd definitely want to go back for a chilled weekend. The bathroom had a great selection of toiletries from the Spa by Kasia which is on site. I wasn't keen on the waterfall shower over the bath, because I'm only 5'1 and didn't want to getting hair wet, but the Mr loved it! The leisure facilities are pretty standard for this type of hotel - pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Nice to just relax for an hour or so and the smell of the place is wonderful - lemony and incensey at the same time. The fragrance spreads through the whole hotel. I didn't get chance to try any of the treatments this time but I'll definitely book in if I get chance to go back! Lastly, the food. The food is fabulous. Self serve breakfast with cereals, yoghurt, fruit, nuts etc, and some gorgeous flavours of muesli-type stuff, including treacle and pecan. Lush! Cooked breakfast is also on the buffet, all the usual suspects, and some fresh cooked mini pastries too. We also ate in the Nelson when we got there after a long drive. The Cajun blackened chicken that comes with sweet potato fries and salad was beautiful, and the Mr was chuffed with his burger too. Food was a little pricey but worth it. Drinks aren't cheap either which is probably my only gripe! Overall a really comfortable, enjoyable stay and 100% recommended if you have the cash to splash!
