    Breakfast hamper!
    Jeni F.

What a place! I stayed here while visiting for a conference, and the hotel is decked out like few hotels I've ever seen before. The walk-in shower room was finished with slate (from what I remember) with a large mirror... ooh er! There was a large bathtub and the suite also had one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever slept in. What really blew me away was the breakfast sent up to my room (I've attached a photo). Anything I could have wanted, they had added to that hamper! You could also go downstairs for a sit-down breakfast, where the waiters were wonderful and v helpful. Would love to stay at another Malmaison soon, and if I'm ever in Liverpool again and feeling extravagant I'll definitely stay here. Only negative part was that the bar service was pretty slow in the evening.

Escalated to customer services who are equally horrific. We are VIP members as well! Radisson Blu Liverpool shame on you - DO NOT STAY HERE. THEY DO NOT RESPECT THEIR GUESTS. I cannot understand how you can admit liability, in writing and offer a refund and then just not do it. What if the whole of society behaved in this manner. The manager Antony Bates and customer relations manager Ian McKee are still as of today not taking my calls or emails. Customer services won't acknowledge that I have liability accepted in writing. They don't belong to ABTA so have no accountability. Do not give them your money. This whole debacle started with waking up in a room full of marajuana smoke and when I complained being told "what do you expect if you stay somewhere like this". No wonder the receptionist felt she could treat me with such disdain - no accountability and she knew it. Silly me for thinking the customer has rights.

Ok let me start by making it absolutely clear that this is a decent boutique hotel in central…read moreLiverpool. However I must say they are in desperate need to hire some marketing people. Whoever came up with this idea of "budgetique hotel" is away with the fairies. The whole point of a boutique hotel is that it is more stylistic than your average hotel. There is nothing standard about it, INCLUDING, the price!!!!!! It is NOT a budgetique hotel, it is a boutique hotel, full stop. It is only marginally cheaper than other boutique hotels and is trying to differentiate itself with this terminology. Only to alienate and confuse the consumers. Looking on their website before booking a room the website is not the best and looks badly managed. I mean honestly a customer looking for a boutique hotel in Liverpool does NOT want to read about the history of Heywood building. I DONT CARE about what happened here 200 years ago, just want to book a room. The building is highly uninteresting anyway, I mean what the hell.......it used to be a bank!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting can that be....seriously!!! I also noticed there was a "dining" tab which points out that they share the building with The Noble house restaurant which I found irrelevent again. All this is a shame because as I said it is a very nice boutique hotel. The rooms are well maintained and there are balcony options. There is also a room which has a stand alone bath which is screaming to be filled with ice and bottled beverages for a post night out after party. You can go for a comfy room or a plush room with the second obviously being the more luxurious option. Prices range from £60-£120 depending on time of week. In conclusion a very good hotel with some wooden thinking in terms of its positioning, which you shouldn't hold against them.

We were able to stay here after getting a deal through Priceline (a fortunate outcome) and had the pleasure of being located in the heart of Liverpool around some good restaurants and bars, and not too far from the waterfront. The hotel concierge was so helpful in telling us where to go for dinner and drinks (Alma de Cuba, and the Restaurant Bar & Grill right next door!) and in getting us settled into our room. The hotel itself is a modern style treasure. Although there isn't much space to navigate in the lobby all the way up to your room, the enclosure assured that we would have a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the room was impeccable (including its frivolous decorations), and the bathroom offered high-end beauty products. Although there were places within walking distance, we went to places a little ways out and still had a bargain on cab fare. Liverpool is a charming city, but it's a shame that it's mostly renowned for its history of the Beatles and less for the luxury of its accommodations!

If you book it from booking.com, you can find such an amazing deal! I booked it for only £115 for 3 nights! This is such a good value because most hotels here charge about £100/night! The room is extremely small but it's clean which is good enough for travelers like myself who value convenient location and reasonable price over room size and fancy decors. It's not that far from Lime Street Station, it's about 10-15min walk but if you have a suitcase, take a cab. It was less than £4 from the station. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Book ahead because this hotel gets sold out quickly. I'd definitely stay here again.

It wasn't much of a chance but rare one bags a bargain so readily these days. Location wise it really couldn't have been better. There were plenty of places to eat and drink very close by and key tourist and shopping locations are right there. Room size is small but actually this is more a short break or 'out all day' kind of place, so you are just likely have an overnight bag and need a place to flop. The big screen TV was a very welcome treat along with huge selection of Sky TV channels, including films, sports and HD. Wi-fi was great ... zero problems with speed or connection - it was also free! I'd say finish and cleanliness was 4**** hotel standard. Service exceptional. Free cheese and wine at 5pm, so you can meet the other guests and staff if you fancy it.

The front desk staff were just the nicest, so I have no complaints regarding service. The location is also fantastic: an easy walk to the train station or to the bars, but on a somewhat quieter street itself. The star downgrade is that the rooms just don't justify this being a 4-star hotel -- other than them being big. Very drab and outdated, can hear anyone above you walking on the creaky hardwood floors, some of the double beds are just smaller ones pushed together (and not very comfortable), no bottled water in the rooms, no phone to call the front desk, no hair dryer (thank god I wasn't staying long, as I wouldn't have been able to wash my hair the entire stay). They really need an update, but I feel like the bar for hotel quality in the area is generally pretty low.

The Shankly Hotel is named after Liverpool legend Bill Shankly. As I have absolutely no football knowledge whatsoever this part of the experience was a bit lost on me. However, for those in the know, from the first step into the foyer there are tributes to him and memorabilia of his life and career everywhere - even in the floor! We stayed here in a group of 14 as part of a hen weekend. The apartment at the top of the hotel was already booked for the weekend so we had 3 rooms for the weekend. These were pure luxury. There was a massive leather couch that turned into a bed, a generous sized wardrobe, huge comfortable beds with a beautiful tan leather trimmed headboard, a kitchenette and a jacuzzi bath. YES! A JACUZZI BATH! This was worth the stay alone and I definitely spent way too long in there on Saturday morning. It was full of the latest technology too including a bluetooth connectable soundbar that played in each area of the room, an XBox on request and a large flat screen TV equipped with lots of movies and radio stations. Everything was luxurious and I was in love with our surroundings. Even the rooms were adorned with Shankly memorabilia, including some bathroom wisdom in the form of Shankly quotes and a story about him on the roof from many people who had encountered him in their lives. Even if you're not much of a football fan you can appreciate the tasteful tributes to him at every turn. A massive plus for me was that the rooms were practically soundproof! When I decided to go to bed earlier than the rest of most of the hen party on the Saturday night I couldn't hear a peep as soon as I shut the door. Great news for their neighbouring room too I'll bet! On arrival we were given vouchers for drinks at the bar, which made our first round super cheap! There was also breakfast in the morning with plenty of hot and cold options, served until 11am. I never go for breakfast because I'm never up in time so this was such a nice change from the norm and I got to enjoy two days of delicious cooked breakfasts in the Bastion restaurant on the bottom floor of the hotel. You're only a five minute walk from Liverpool One and a ten minute walk from Concert Square. You're also right next to some shops, a Five Guys and local takeaways, and if you can't be bothered going out you can order JustEat/Dominos and the hotel reception will call you when it arrives. Heaven. It is definitely any Liverpool fan's dream hotel here. On the Friday night a Liverpool legend was at the restaurant while we were getting drinks and he had the FA Cup with him - which I'm told is a pretty big deal. However, even if you're not a Liverpool fan this hotel is a dream. It is modern, stylish, comfortable and all of the staff were amazing during our stay. There are so many little touches that made our weekend extra special and I'd definitely consider staying here on my next visit to Liverpool. Such a beautiful hotel in the heart of the city!
