Beautiful store, great selection of new and used equipment, pricey but to be expected, generally helpful and kind employees. Here's the thing: there is one employee who has repeatedly been offensive if not rude. I am not from MN with the "Minnesota nice", I am an east coast native, and appreciate honesty and integrity. My experience with this employee has been as follows:
1. While searching for a used close contact saddle (found the perfect one, again this store has great selection), she asked me TWICE if I was sure a 16.5" would work for me, as it's small for her. First, I'm 5'4" and 120# soaking wet. Second, I have ridden with top hunters and eventers and have been fit in a 16, let alone a 16.5.
2. On a different occasion, I was searching for sport boots and found a set of 4 Pegasus boots in the consignment. I had been trying on half chaps for about 20 minutes deciding on a pair and if I even needed a new pair, so finding sport boots, I happily grabbed the bag and headed up to checkout. Said employee accused me of taking the sport boots and shoving them all into one bag, and then proceeded to run to the back to get the other bag (which was shoved under other things, again she assumed I had done it) and told me "SOMEONE was trying to steal etc etc". Since I had no idea they were sold in pairs (as did neither of the women ringing me out...) I happily RECHARGED my credit card to buy the second pair.
3. On a third occasion, said employee had recommended a tack cleaner that was more pricy than the rest, telling me it is very rough on leather but takes care of mold and does not allow regrowth. As a vet student whom also worked in a tack shop in Ohio, I was cordial but told her I knew what products worked. She was insistent that I try this product, which allowed my weighted reins a thick layer of green and white mold within a month of being stored IN MY AIR CONDITIONED HOUSE AWAY FROM MOISTURE. I will be returning said product.
The store itself is lovely, as are the other employees, as I have been in a number of times and so has my roommate. I can understand one bad experience, but after three strikes, you are out. read more
