A great place to go if you need something same day and can't wait by ordering it online. Their prices are relatively competitive, and they do have deals and specials occasionally that make the trip out there worth it. I love their holiday parties and scavenger hunts and/or contests they hold. Customer service is usually great. I only had one bad experience myself when I consigned my saddle but otherwise they are usually on top of things. If their prices were more competitive with online stores, and I lived closer, I would shop more often. read more

I am the opposite of a horse person, but I really enjoy this store! The staff is wonderful! I know nothing about horses, but my 6 year-old loves them. I came to the store prepared to buy them out of equipment for my daughter, but Ally (she's awesome!) slowed me down a notch. Ally asked me about my daughter's experience level, preferences, and riding instructor. She fitted my daughter and sold us a helmet, boots, gloves, and half-chaps. Everything else I thought my daughter needed was saved for when she needed it, or had grown up a bit. I will definitely be a repeat customer, and I think you should spend your money here, too! read more

Beautiful store, great selection of new and used equipment, pricey but to be expected, generally helpful and kind employees. Here's the thing: there is one employee who has repeatedly been offensive if not rude. I am not from MN with the "Minnesota nice", I am an east coast native, and appreciate honesty and integrity. My experience with this employee has been as follows: 1. While searching for a used close contact saddle (found the perfect one, again this store has great selection), she asked me TWICE if I was sure a 16.5" would work for me, as it's small for her. First, I'm 5'4" and 120# soaking wet. Second, I have ridden with top hunters and eventers and have been fit in a 16, let alone a 16.5. 2. On a different occasion, I was searching for sport boots and found a set of 4 Pegasus boots in the consignment. I had been trying on half chaps for about 20 minutes deciding on a pair and if I even needed a new pair, so finding sport boots, I happily grabbed the bag and headed up to checkout. Said employee accused me of taking the sport boots and shoving them all into one bag, and then proceeded to run to the back to get the other bag (which was shoved under other things, again she assumed I had done it) and told me "SOMEONE was trying to steal etc etc". Since I had no idea they were sold in pairs (as did neither of the women ringing me out...) I happily RECHARGED my credit card to buy the second pair. 3. On a third occasion, said employee had recommended a tack cleaner that was more pricy than the rest, telling me it is very rough on leather but takes care of mold and does not allow regrowth. As a vet student whom also worked in a tack shop in Ohio, I was cordial but told her I knew what products worked. She was insistent that I try this product, which allowed my weighted reins a thick layer of green and white mold within a month of being stored IN MY AIR CONDITIONED HOUSE AWAY FROM MOISTURE. I will be returning said product. The store itself is lovely, as are the other employees, as I have been in a number of times and so has my roommate. I can understand one bad experience, but after three strikes, you are out. read more

Here are some great things about this store: 1) The second you walk into the store you are greeted by a positive attitude/smiling employee. The customer service that I've received at this store is top-notch. The employees have always been helpful in asking if I need assistance with anything, have been attentive (without being over -bearing) and provide good feedback on how they think the products fit you or suggestions for other similar products. 2) The store is very well stocked & laid-out. Nothing feels cluttered, everything is super clean & easy to find. 3) The prices are very competitive and fair. Plus they have good deals periodically, which helps! St. Croix has the best selection of fine saddlery, riding apparel, and other horse items. I never have an inadequate time when visiting this place. I also love that they have a website. My only complaint is with the price of some items. I have been able to find many items such as apparel, saddle pads, and bits for a much lower price elsewhere. read more

The staff at St Croix Saddlery was amazing. I spent all summer looking for the perfect used English saddle for my mare. Her confirmation makes her difficult to fit and I am tall, also making the fit challenging. Every time I stopped in to look at saddles and check them out for a test ride with my mare I got very good service. They were especially encouraging as I got frustrated trying to find a used saddle, the end result is an amazing saddle, that fits myself, my mare, and my budget. Thank you, Jennifer read more
