Evidently, its written in the "fine print" on the service authorization that a customer signs at check-in. But NO ONE alerts you to that fact upfront. If I had been verbally advised upfront I would have brought my check book (archane method of payment) and written them a check! But, instead, I was advised by the service rep when I presented a credit card to pay my bill? I can see an acceptable service charge from a struggling small business owner for a substantially smaller bill (Mom &Pop establishments, etc). However, a very successful conglomerate like Lafontaine with a plethora of dealerships throughout the southeast Michigan area should not be "cheapening" the customer experience...which also begs the question: is this a "legalized" ploy to extract additional funds from their customers adding to their profit margin? I ask because I was a business owner of several retail entities over the years...and NEVER charged my clients separately for something so petty (but NOT so petty when you're paying an invoice in the thousands as my clients were paying!). Instead of properly diagnosing the problem, I was told "that's just how the trucks shift." When I pressed further, the service department admitted they could tell something was wrong but refused to repair it simply because no diagnostic codes were present. This is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've had problems with this dealership. Two years ago, I had a 2015 Chevy 1500 that required engine repair. They kept my truck for three months, told me it was fixed, and the engine failed within 2 miles of leaving the lot. On top of that, I was told during those three months that no rental was available -- only to suddenly be offered one after the engine failed again and I had to escalate that situation with GM corporate. This dealership has repeatedly shown a lack of accountability, professionalism, and care for its customers. If you expect thorough diagnostics, timely repairs, or honest communication, I strongly recommend going elsewhere Just to add I've never left a bad review on a local business. Finally after being there 15 minutes, a salesman asked if he could help me. I told him I had an appointment and that I had texted my salesman to let him know I was at the dealership. 25 minutes later, I get pawned off on another salesman. I decided this isn't the dealership I want to deal with. I told him I'm done, and I'm leaving with No request to stay from the person. I was looking to buy a 2025 or 26 Sierra Denali. This dealership lost a sale. Stay far away from this place.
