Check-in was fairly easy, with staff helping us out, and pointing out lockers we could use for secure storage of goods. Rooms were fine, nothing special. The place wasn't very clean, but the beds were comfortable, and I slept alright. Location is good for accessing city centre. Buses go from close by, and Fulham Broadway tube station is about 10 minutes walk. Certainly not the best hostel I've been in, but you'll struggle to do better on a budget in London.

It's clean and comfortable. Each bed has a curtain for your privacy and storage lockers. Each room as a wash basin. restrooms are shared, I believe, unless you book a private room. Both co-ed and single sex dorms are available. My only gripe was the the bathroom was kind of slimy; the floors were wet, there were no paper towels and flourescent lighting doesn't flatter anyone. No matter; I didn't spend too much time in there. Free breakfast is always a plus and even though it's just toast, OJ and cereal, it was filling enough. Service was friendly and informative. Because of the risk of guests infecting other rooms, they could not get us another room in the hostel, telling us to book elsewhere. When I suggested that it seemed pretty unethical to send possibly BEDBUG infected people to other hostels because they were worried that they might contaminate other rooms in their establishment, both the person on duty and the night manager told me that they agreed with me, but that they were following protocol. They also did not make this BEDBUG issues aware to other guests outside the room, and put a note on the door that the room was having electrical issues instead. I was also assured that my entire stay would be refunded; they only refunded the nights that I had not stayed-which obviously. Nothing for the inconvenience or the potential risk they put us in or the moral dilemma of carrying BEDBUGS to other hostels.

Staff was very unaccomodating rude and abnoxious, the shower was flooded, and toilet was clogged. I would never recommend this hostel to my worse enemy.

Even the common areas are devoid of conversation or life. Most of their clientele are school groups and older people literally looking for a bed for the night. If you're looking to meet kind, interesting people (save the staff) or learn about new cultures, look elsewhere. Facilities don't add much value, unfortunately. Rooms are quite tiny, especially the four bunkbeds --not much luggage space or even space to stretch your legs. WiFi was absolutely poor. Bathrooms were clean, but also tiny. Not suitable for more than two night's stay. Fantastic location in a beautiful neighbourhood. No nightlife around, however. The beds are comfortable enough to get a good sleep. Lockers are spacious, so everything fits perfectly. The bathrooms were clean. It has a very nice yard to sit and relax. The cafeteria is nice, too. The food is good, specially breakfast. Location is perfect, in the middle of Holland Park. You can take a walk or jog in the mornings. A tube station is within walking distance, but being an uphill walk, it can be exhausting after a day walking in the city.

A few minutes walk from the High St. Kensington tube station, right through Holland Park, and by a Tesco Metro for all your grocery needs. Since the hostel has a big kitchen and fridge for the people staying there I definitely recommend going to Tesco for food if you are on a budget. You can either stay in the main building where you check in or the pretty building they show in all the pictures. We stayed in the main building and although the room was a bit cramped it was still OK. The internet on the lobby computers was pricey so I recommend going to an internet cafe instead. What makes this hostel absolutely brilliant is the full English breakfast you get each day. This is the only place hostel I ever stayed in that had more than toast or croissant. The food was great, the staff was helpful, and I give it top marks.

In our double, there was silverware and plates for two people as well. For what we paid, we got a very clean room. From what I can tell (it's been 2 weeks now) there were no bed bugs. There are kitchens that you can use - we didn't see anything too cook with, but we did make use of the toaster and the microwave. Transportation to the Abercorn was very easy. It is about a 2 or 3 minute walk from the Hammersmith Underground station. We used the Piccadilly line for a lot of the time we were in London for easy access to South Kensington, Soho, and Heathrow. If we weren't using the Piccadilly line, we used the District line which also goes out of Hammersmith. The Bad: You have to pay a fair bit for Internet and laundry. The Internet connection, however, is pretty good and I don't have too many complaints on that end. Additionally, there are no elevators which means that having rooms on higher floors can be annoying. The Ugly: I saw a few beetle things that might have been cockroaches. They didn't seem big enough to be cockroaches, but remember that they exist. Having just got back from Kenya though, they didn't seem particularly frightening. In summary, it wasn't a Ritz Carlton, but it was good for how much we paid.
