This is a little cafe in a small town. They still allow smoking inside at the bar. But when you are at a family reunion and in need of dinner for 15-20 the night before the event, few places in Clearfield have a banquet hall big enough to handle that size of a party. Let alone two. We were one of the big parties last night. Our group of 16 were seated in the banquet hall along with another big party. We had one server for our group. Now, in most places you would expect 2-3 servers for a table that large, but again this is a very small town. Our server Kim did her best to keep everything straight and everyone happy. She started off with taking drink orders. When she got to us, we asked what kind of bourbon they had. She didn't know, but went to the bar to find out. When she returned, we asked for Old Fashions. She then asked us how to make them, and stated that the bartender wasn't positive on how to do it, but had offered her skills at Manhattans instead. So that's what we got. They were good. I knew from a visit here years ago that the portions were big enough to split, so my husband, cousin, and I all split a couple of entrees - homemade lasagna and Chicken Alfredo. The lasagna was very good, had a ton of meat in it, and the red sauce was good and not too sweet. The Chicken Alfredo was decent, but definitely not our favorite between the two. It needed more seasoning, specifically ground pepper and a tad more salt. Once we doctored it up at the table it wasn't bad, but again not our favorite. For dessert we all got complimentary cake. Sometimes small place can be a surprise. It's not always about the food, but the quality of service given and the company that is around you. Those things are why we give this a solid 4 stars. read more

Came upon St. Charles while on our way home one Saturday evening. Got inside just before 5, and by 5:15, every table was taken, mostly by local residents. Short on the wait staff but they hustled and accommodated all diners. Food was like home cookin - delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend. read more

Came here to celebrate my brothers birthday. The food was good, but the service was awful. We had to remind the waitress twice about coffee, and at one point, I joked with my brother that she'd been gone so long, we could dine and dash without her noticing. She finally reappeared with the pie and ice cream that was preordered for my brothers birthday. The pieces of pie were so small they were overshadowed by the scoop of ice cream on them. The wait began again to get her to bring the check. I could see if they were busy, but they really weren't. The food is good, but not worth the super awful service. read more

Ordered the special Beer Battered Haddock. The fish was pretty good but they overlooked it a bit whereas the beer batter was a bit crunchy and fish a bit dry but overall good. It was the Grice Gun shop sale so I'm sure they were a bit overwhelmed with customers, being busy and everything. Nice place. I'm sure I'll be back when I'm in the area again. read more

I'm not gonna rip on the restaurant cause frankly I think the locals wouldn't care. I am gonna say though that if your gonna put lump crab cakes on the menu they better be lump crab cakes. They sooooooooo were not! These were shameful at best. We didn't bother saying anything cause we traveled 9 hours. We're starving and wanted to go back to hotel and it wouldn't have mattered anyway!! read more

St Charles is a great place for a very reasonable dining. It features Italian, fish and steak entrees. They are all good and they serve more typical bar food which looks great, but I've not tried them. read more

We meet here on Wednesday evenings and enjoy Italian dishes and chicken or steak salads. I have never been disappointed. Their cheesecake is a great choice for dessert. read more

Another dissapointment. There were 6 of us at this, non-busy restaurant (should have been a clue). We all got drinks and those were okay. At least someone can amateurishly bartend. But the food and service? Awful. I got "fresh cut fries" with my dried out, yet soggy reuben and I've never tasted french fries this bad in my life. They tasted old and flavorless. They were like leather, cold, and bitter. My sandwich had dried out corned beef in between soggy bread. Maybe the bread soaked all oil out of the fries? No idea. Thousand island dressing also came on the side, which is okay i guess. Also, with 6 people ordering, the waitress was annoyed that we all wanted separate checks. Always treats customers great, just don't expect to go there to cause fights and disturb the peace, otherwise you'll be removed (Rightfully so‍). The owner/ staff are not racist. The owners daughter is mixed. ‍ Best bar in the Clearfield area, I've went to other ones and haven't received the same hospitality. I was in town for business, stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and tossed the menus down, walked away. Came back to take the order, seemed stressed out, didn't make suggestions, food isn't anything fancy, nothing really to write home about. read more

Yeah, so This was an ok experience. Kind of weird to choose a bottled beer at the front to take inside... The selection of beers on tap is minimal and standard for the area. Pretty sad. Bathroom could definitely use a cleaning. Karaoke was fun... I despise places where smoking is permitted indoors though. Will happily go where the beer selection is better and indoor smoking is prohibited. read more

We were there Tuesday for wing night the wings and the service was outstanding. There was four of us, the barmaid took great care of us. Then Sunday evening we were in the dining room, ordered the Chopped sirloin special. Was absolutely wonderful. The server was extraordinary. The chef came out and asked how everything was. We were pleasantly surprised when we found this place because we were shopping at Grice's next door. My son's steak was excellent. I had 1/2 lb steamed shrimp and I am sure there was more than 1/2 lb on my plate. My husband was very pleased with his meal too. The servers were very attentive --our glasses were filled and our meals were served quickly. Yes, the decor is dated but that makes it feel like stepping back in time. Had intended on going to Moena but they were closed so saw this restaurant when driving by. OMG! We will DEFINITELY be back!!! I had the baked seafood platter (shrimp, crab cake, mussels and shrimp with choice of side) and he had the seafood pasta (shrimp, squid, scallops and shrimp with two huge pieces of garlic bread) with choice of pasta and choice of sauce both dishes came with a salad and roll. This restaurant is sort of a usual for my boyfriend and I on wing night. I never eat the wings (kinda gross) so I order off of the regular menu and in addition to their wings, mostly everything else is pretty gross except for two things: the double-decker Reuben sandwhich and the deep fried calamari. The service is extremely poor, which my friends had to just leave, unfinished food and all there because there was absolutely terrible service. This restaurant is extremely expensive for its poor food quality and service so I suggest dining elsewhere. read more

I was in town for a reunion and went to the St. Charles for dinner with twelve of my friends. The Friday fish special was great. Cooked perfectly and served in a very timely manner. The server was very polite and was spot on with our orders. We sat in the banquet room and it was very clean and comfortable. I used to go here after work 44 years ago and thought I would give it a try during my visit home and am glad I did. read more
