We were blown away…read moreby how much fun he had at Dangerous Camp -- the floor of the gym was covered in nerf bullets and the kids were decked out in safety glasses, the leaders seemed intelligent and fun, nobody behaved like sore losers when they lost competitions, they made everything really enjoyable... great experience. The music camp was super small but they accomplished a lot and my son, the youngest in the group-- still had a really positive experience. I was actually surprised because it's hard to make a tiny music camp fun when you don't know what instruments you're getting and what skill levels-- but they did a fabulous job. We kept in touch with a few of the students and they were great. We went to the open house for the school this year and looooved the headmaster's speech. It seems like a private school that actually sticks by their beliefs and doesn't only cater to rich parents. I was left with the impression that they have great integrity, and the people there were respectful, polite, and fun.

Only relying on other teachers, an answer key and a textbook for us to learn from instead of them. As well as the 8th grade science teacher. One was very fun to talk to, yet the other teacher couldn't teach at all, relying on the internet and is always on "G-chat". In my opinion, the 6th grade science teacher would always complain for the smallest things that we did although we were barely pre-teens then. Always pointing at the board, showing off her nails. If I had the chance, I would walk away from this school during breaks. We can't forget the art teacher. Rumors about him liking younger human beings and always records and takes pictures at kids without their consent. Seems pretty weird if you ask me... And this school reeked with horrible smells. Someone needs to start cleaning the 7th grade hallway or use febreeze!! Now the the P.E. teachers, there was one man that would make a bit upset. He doesn't understand how it feels to go through menstruation and says " exercise makes it better" but as soon as I exercise, I start feeling crippled even more with pain and have to be escorted. That made me feel "real good"... Overall, the vice principal needs to start hiring actual good teachers unlike these. There's a reason why many people don't like this school and are excited to leave.

There are families who have been a part of the CHA family for 20+ years due to multiple children and grandchildren... This is such a testimony to what kind of place CHA is. CHA has been such an important part of our family. Ever since the beginning, when my children started in the preschool classes, to life's ups and many downs, there has not been a time where our lives were not positively touched by someone associated with CHA, whether it'd be faculty, staff or friends. We love the small class sizes as the teachers really get to know my children--their strengths, weaknesses, and quirks--to work with me to nurture them. The faculty and staff really try to model Christ in what they say and do. I love this environment where the daily activities are bathed in prayer (daily morning faculty devotions to start!) and that my children and I are being prayed for. As icing on the cake, CHA offers a strong academic program as well. My daughter, who is a junior in the Upper School this year, is constantly being challenged with a multitude of AP and Duel Credit courses. All courses are taught through a biblical lens and I believe this helps my children a unique perspective to the world around them. CHA offers opportunities for sports, theater, student council, paper--and almost everything else in between so the opportunities for all that my children are provided. The bond between the students is strong as they encourage each other, pray for each other and just love on each other. I am so appreciative towards CHA--its dedication to bringing up soldiers for the Kingdom. It truly has been a blessing in our lives.

Back then my son was in preschool in kindergarten so he didn't really know what was going on but now he's in third grade and he communicates with us perfectly. While looking through his old yearbook together, we stumbled upon this teacher's picture. He said she was very unkind to him with another kid and him were trying to grab an item. He would always give it to the other kid and yell at him . He said he specifically felt singled up by her that she was nice to everybody except him and it was making him very confused but now that he's older and can understand I told him about racism. I told him there's certain people that think they're they're better than others because of their skin color and they like to abuse, helpless little children, while smiling at their occupation, saying that their Christians, that is absolutely disgusting . SHe would always pull him aside and be mean to him while smiling in our faces. My wife thought she was the nicest one there. But she is a racist just trying to cover herself. Christian Heritage Academy you should do better and you should be ashamed of yourself hiring people like that. We trust you with our kids. And we pay you very well for the services. The school goes from pre K-8th grade which is a great thing since the kids will be in one school until high school. It is a private school so it does cost quite a bit but it really is an exceptional school. Whether or not it's worth the money I can't really say. Personally, I would cringe at the price tag if Einstein himself were teaching my child. They just built a new building this year and it is amazing. So much better than the old building they were in. Lots of room and the capability to have more students, classes and teachers. Some pros: The facility is wonderful, the teachers are great and really care about the kids. Reading and math are based on ability, not on grade. So, if your 5-6 year old is reading like a nine-year old, they will be put in with those readers. The school isn't even "grade" based. there is no "1st grade", etc. It is level based. They have a GREAT fine arts program. Extensive art, music and drama programs that you won't find in a public school. Some cons: There is a bit of an elitist attitude there at times but I think it comes more from parents than the staff. There is a bit of communication problem with the school and the parents. There just doesn't seem to be a cohesive way for parents to get the information they need. If you're considering sending your child here, definitely sign up for a visit and a shadow day. Personally, as long as we can afford it, my son will be going to this school.

I recently graduated from SAA, and looking back just a couple years, I have to say that SAA has…read morechanged me a lot. I feel more confident and motivated, and I have made some amazing friends. One of the things about SAA that makes it unique is that the fact that you will do as well as the work you put in. As long as you take advantage of the local resources and have some self motivation to do well, it isn't hard to master the schoolwork and beyond. The teachers are willing to help if you are willing to ask, even when it comes down to academics beyond the classroom. For example, when I needed help for my High School application, or improving my SAT scores, my teachers were glad to lend me a hand. Also, I have to give props to the excelled math program that SAA offers. Where I initially did not enjoy math as a subject at all, SAA motivated me to improve my math ability. I eventually became part of the Math Team and found a passion for mathematics. SAA was a great choice for me, and I got a lot out of my experience.

One of the kiddos is a participant in the Northbrook Girls Softball Association and these grade schoolers were given an opportunity to improve their skills for a fee at a series of 3 clinics held at the GBN HS fieldhouse. The fieldhouse is quite large with an indoor track, well equipped, well lit, clean, and modern and I had a good impression of it and the high school. The high school aged coaches were all competent for their roles and our grand-daughter had a good time here improving her skills.

These are the sort of community based events that a public school's facilities should be used for, bringing the general public in to show what the tax dollars are being used for, and giving prospective students/parents an idea of what's ahead next. It is a large auditorium, with comfortable seating and good acoustics. It can host a large production, with a lot of available seating. It also has dedicated auditorium parking very close to the main auditorium entrance, but it's limited. The studio had 6 shows in all this Sunday, and between show 3 and 4, it was definitely busy in the parking area, but everyone was dealing with it happily: a beautiful day outside and a show that makes you feel young.

Of course there are sports stars - Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers) and Jewel Lloyd (WNBA), Bart Conner (Gold medalist), etc. But what I really like about Niles West is that it's probably the most diverse high school in the country - by race, national origin and socio- economic status. See - a lotta people talk about supporting diversity but don't exactly want to live in it. Niles West embraces the over 100 different languages and makes it happen. And you don't have to be an elitist to attend this school, however, with hard work and good grades - you'll find yourself in elite company, in the very near future.
