So I'm into my second year of living here, and I have to say, they are some of the best landlords I've ever had. Why? Three reasons:
1. Responsive: Every time me or my boyfriend - who lives one building over from me - call about a broken something or other, they come to fix it within a day or two.
My next door neighbor is super loud at night, even though there is a 10pm quiet time. Trying to engage him in conversation about this failed, so I called the rental office and ask them to intervene. They were apologetic about it, but the fact they took me seriously was pretty awesome.
2. Super friendly: I have even called to ask to drop off packages in my apartment - they usually hold them in their office - because I wouldn't make it back from work by 6 that evening. It was a few days before Christmas so I needed to wrap and mail gifts last minute. They said no problem, and when I got home late that evening, the packages were waiting inside my apartment.
3. Responsible: During city emergency snow plowings, they will post signs up letting people know ahead of time to not park on the street.
A lot of renters are students, and a lot of their policies reflect that.
Before the winter break, they posted signs letting people know that they could drop off their car keys in case the parking lot needed to be plowed. I had to fly home one weekend and knew that they were going to plow, so I left my keys with them. True to their word, they moved my car while they plowed the lot and returned it to the lot.
Downsides are the severe penalties for breaking a 12-month lease, but if you plan on sticking around Minneapolis for a while, you can't go wrong. Also, being located right next to the Nordeast neighborhood, you're a walk away from a lot of cool places like the Red Stag, Punch's, Surdyk's, i like you!. read more
