On 4/19, a lady fainted, fell backwards, and hit her head hard on the concrete floor. My friends went to call an ambulance for her because you don't mess with a head injury!! Upon doing so, they were verbally berated and shamed by a staff member who called them bullies for "forcing" the woman to get medical care. He was the dab tender for this event. This gentleman did not get a manager or supervisor, and pressured a woman not to receive medical care which is not only unethical but highly illegal. Luckily an ambulance did come and she got checked out, but it took a lot of fighting and force with this employee to get it done. He was not a medical professional by any means and had no right to prevent her from getting care. I sincerely hope this gentleman gets retrained and/or disciplined for this abhorrent behavior. read more

We went to an event here on 4/19 that started off fine, but one of the other customers in line collapsed and hit her head HARD on the floor. I called 911 to come check her out, but a staff member then verbally berated me for doing so, claiming the patron who fell didn't want an ambulance. I spoke to her myself and she agreed to the ambulance, and was clearly in shock from hitting her head and a possible seizure. The staff member proceeded to call me a bully and to accuse me of pressuring the other patron, despite being the one insisting there NOT be medical attention provided. I was extremely disappointed in this response, which seemed to prioritize the optics of calling an ambulance over the heath of a human being. Lucky the patron did receive medical care, and the other staff members present were kind, but this experience was extremely shocking and disappointing. read more

if I could give 0 stars I would! we booked this space for a kids birthday party months in advance because after speaking to and meeting with the owner, and seeing the space, we were told they had events planned for the year. apparently owners changed after we paid and the only way I could get ahold of anyone was through the invoice system. and that took me weeks to get in touch with anyone! nothing went as promised. speakers in the theater were damaged and sound was terrible! the ac was broken and it was over 100°f that day so it was miserable. several guests left because of it. we were told we would have full concussions for guest to purchase and they did not! The popcorn that was available tasted awful and actually caused food poisoning for several of the kids that attended the party. I've reached out about the issues several times without any response. this place needs to close. do not book an event here you will be charged way too much and be left extremely disappointed! read more

I'm usually such a positive person. However, today's events at the "horror con" was truly the worst experience of my life. The fact that I paid $40 for that was actually insane. There were MAYBE 10 vendors, with a laughable schedule. The daytime events were lackluster. We had already paid for the entire day.... So we came back at 7pm for a commentary movie...in which the paying guests sat on concrete floors. It was a joke. I couldn't believe we paid for this disaster. I really hope and pray the people who put on this disastrous event realize they have no business planning events. It was a disaster and my entire group called it the fyre festival of horror. I've always had good experiences at this theater. When I first moved to the area the theater was as a bit dingy but nice staff and you can't beat the prices. They are doing some renovations too which will be great when they are done. read more

Best thing in the area for entertainment on a tight budget. If you have kids, you can take them to a movie with snacks and drinks and still have money left over. Most theaters make you feel like you need a second mortgage to take the family to the movies. So happy to have this in our neighborhood! read more

Cheap movies! If there's one thing that I'm lacking in my adult life, it would be the ability to see movies in the theatre. Frankly, I can't afford it. And you try to hit up the rush hour and morning times! I just can't do it. Therefore, a place like St. Andrews Cinema is really convenient. How this place still stays in business is beyond me. One dollar? That's it? I remember when dollar shows started raising their prices, and ones that didn't raise them were forced to close. Just the thought of this place's existence boggles the mind! However, they make it up on concessions. The prices are pretty well par with other movie theatres. However, they do have specials Monday through Wednesday. And they have dollar hot dogs all week long! In other words, you can still get by for next to nothing. If you're looking for crystal clear screens and stadium seating, St. Andrews will disapppoint. However, you're paying a dollar. Get over yourself! It's not the height of viewing comfort, but for what I'm paying, I can live with a few imperfections. The biggest problem recently was the bathroom. I guess that they were doing work on the plumbing, and they had set up Porta-Johns outside of the theatre. That's not a big deal, except that I am obsessed with washing my hands in a fairly clean and found the whole experience rather revolting. I hope that they've fixed that situation! Perhaps you're not getting all the comforts of a ten or twelve dollar movie, but St. Andrews is an inexpensive substitute for spending too much for a film. read more

I went here to watch The Lone Ranger this week. I don't have much to complain about, I mean, it's a buck to watch a movie, not much you really can be mad at. The sound system is good enough that you can hear what absolutely has to be heard. It's Stereo quality, nothing more. The screen in our theater had lines during the whole movie, and a few "spots" in the edges. Again. I paid a dollar, so what's to complain about? The way I see it is this. The high tech theaters are great for action, sci-fi, and maybe a few blockbuster comedies. Movies that you aren't quite sure about, or movies you just want to watch again after seeing them at release, this is the place to go. Romantic Comedies? Here or redbox, I don't care, I most likely won't be there! Seriously though, this is the redbox of theaters. If a movie doesn't look worth the $12 to see it at the AMC, but you want that big screen appeal, give it a few months and check it out at St. Andrews. read more

OK where do I start? I pass this place every day on my way to work. I saw that the (new) Winne the Pooh movie was playing and got the idea to take our daughter who is 2 and a few months to her first movie. It is only a dollar and heck if she hated it we could just go do something else. Also we found out that she is free for being 2 or younger (FTW). The concessions were actually pretty good and not horribly expensive. We went into the theater and I was somewhat concerned at how gross the seats were. I mean they really need to do something with the upholstery in this place. Either way the movie was a hit with the munchkin and I actually was happy with the money we spent. The only couple of things I had a problem with was that the sound had an annoying buzz like there was a short in the wiring and it did not go away for the entire movie. I went to St. Andrew's Cinema for the second time tonight and had a great time. There aren't many things you can buy for a $1 anymore, but a movie at St. Andrew's Cinema is still only a $1! The theater is old and the screen isn't big, but totally worth it for the price. They show movies that are about to come out on DVD. Thinking about it, it is cheaper to see a movie here than to rent one from the Redbox, which is awesome! They have pretty reasonable concessions too. I was able to get a hot dog for $1 and a regular sized bag of M&M's for $1.75, which is a steal at a movie theater. The large size popcorn ($6) and large size pop ($4) come with free refills, which is nice. It is worth noting that you should probably arrive early (or at the very least on time) to movies here. During busy times (e.g., Saturdays), you won't be able to get your best seat if you don't arrive early. Based on our experience tonight, it seems like the listed start times are pretty close to the start times of the actual movies. We typically arrive late to most movies, and tonight we were our standard 5-10 minutes late. As a result, we missed the beginning of the movie. In sum, if there's a movie you missed and you want to go to the theater for cheap, then this is definitely your place! read more

St Andrews Cinema is everything you would expect from a spot that only charges 50 cents: 2 month old movies, low quality projection screens, popcorn kernels & loose candy lining the aisles. If you want a catch a movie here, make sure to keep a close eye on the website because there are only a few screens supporting up to 6 movies at a time. With all that being said, it only costs 50 cents! You could ramble through your couch, collect a handful of pennies, and go see a flick. Especially if you live in the Zumbehl area, this spot makes for a pretty satisfying little getaway for almost no cost. Most movies that show in major theatres tend to appear at the cinema eventually. With that being said, perfect for kids, cheap family outings, drunken movies, or girlfriends whose potential longevity is still up for debate. read more

UPDATE: A friend of mine sent me a news story that they are not going to be closing after all! YAY! I used to go here all the time when I lived in St. Charles. I'm so incredibly sad because I read a story that they will be closing its doors after Labor Day. :-( My mom's first job was at this theater after she bugged the manager enough and he finally hired her. LOL (She really wanted to work there.) I will remember the fun nights of Rocky Horror Picture Show as well as the organ that would play before the movies back in the day. Stopped in at St. Andrews to see Minions again, and to celebrate that they're not closing their doors after all! As previous commenters have said, this is not your ritzy theatre, this is a homey, real-people, relaxed atmosphere theater. The attendants are friendly, the new seats are cozy, and oh my goodness, the popcorn is to die for! I've been going to St. Andrews Cinema since I was a little kid, before I could appreciate low prices and before I realized that some movie theatres were cooler than others. It's an even trade. In the past, they've occasionally had technical issues, but for a dollar a show, who cares? However, now it's up to three dollars a show, so I'll have to go back and see if the quality is three times as good. read more

St Andrews Cinema is the only place where you can enjoy a movie, popcorn, soda, and a hotdog and still get enough change back from a $10 bill to see another movie. A little bit run down. The staff is helpful and the food prices can't be beat. I have been coming here since I was a little girl, and I feel like things are quite different now. But you can still get a hot dog for a dollar, see a movie for a dollar and I guess that's all that matters!! I do wish they would show seasonal films: Charlie Brown, the grinch, goosebumps. You really can't beat seeing a movie on the big screen for one dollar. They usually get movies shortly before they are released on DVD. You will feel like you've stepped back in time. You won't find reclining heated assigned seats, but the seats are comfortable, they keep the place clean, and the popcorn is great. Plus they have food specials on certain days of the week. My only complaint is the bathrooms tend to be in need of repair; but they are clean. A year ago there were threats of this place closing down. So thankful they didn't! read more

I really enjoyed coming to this theater. You feel like a flashback to the good old days. Buying a ticket from the booth for $1 buck! You can't beat this. The movies are several months old but still amazing to have a theater that has great prices for movie snacks and drinks without breaking the bank! I would just say the only thing I didn't like is how cold inside the theater is during the winter time and the theaters are small and the inside looks very old. But still a good time! It's an old movie theater which shows dollar movies. There's nothing fancy about the place, however, it's clean and affordable. If you don't mind waiting a little while until a movie makes it to this establishment it's a great choice. read more

A great little theater for a ticket price that can't be beat. The snack prices are extremely reasonable as well, with generous portions of popcorn and fountain drinks. The only drawback I have experienced is excessively talkative customers during the movie. Other than that, I found it to be a highly enjoyable evening at the movies. read more

I've been going to St. Andrew's Cine for as long as I can remember. And now that I have kids to tow along it's a great night out for the family. Yes, the theater could be updated...but that costs money and you know WE'D have to bear that cost. So wait till the lights go down and don't worry about the ambiance! Go to Frontenac if you want fancy lighting, wine and clean carpet! I can ALWAYS count on St. Andrew's to have good, clean family movies for $1. read more

My family of 5 has been going here for years and it has always been a great night out for the family without breaking the bank. I love that they recently upgraded to digital projection and changed out all the seats. It seems that every time we go the theater is mostly full, which is great, but you may want to consider arriving early to get the seat you want. The pre-movie slides are still grainy but vintage and gives the small town theater feel. read more

I have come here often as a resident of St. Charles and i have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. they are polite and courteous but as far as the actual cinema goes it's not that great- but what can you expect for a dollar right? anyhow. they seats are very uncomfortable, they break very easily too. the restrooms are not the cleanest. when the lights go down in the theater it's very hard to see. they also aren't too clean. i appreciate the low cost and hospitality but as far as cleanliness and comfortability.... not quite. read more

Love this place. Yes it's small and the sound system is awful, but it's unique, it feels like a old time theater that kids would go to and watch cheap movies. There's really nothing like it in saint louis. If you're expecting a giant screen with Dolby digital surround and modern power reclining chairs you will be very disappointed. If I could negative stars I would. My gf and I went there on a day off. The price of admission says it all...you get what you pay for!!!!! The popcorn and soda deals are way overpriced. The seating is horrible; the seats were slanted so far forward that it was hard to sit the seat for 20 minutes we were there. We got there early and picked out our seats but could not get comfortable because of the seats and the extremely blurry ads before the show. A medium popcorn and 2 sodas were about $10. All I can say is if you are a staving college student and need to save money then I can see why you could deal with this theatre. I will never go back. read more
