Bought a car, had it a total of 48 hours, thing won't start. Bring it back and we're told it's probably a fuel pump and it most likely won't be covered under warranty which is odd cause that contradicts what's pasted on the wall. They end up covering the fuel pump, kept our car for a week. We get it back, 2 days later we're stuck on the freeway cause the car died, now outside of warranty cause we practically used up the 1000 miles driving back and forth from Buffalo to Blaine... we don't even have the plates back on it and can't drive it now. Should of seen the red flag from the people that were in there before us who bought a car 6 weeks ago and haven't even driven it yet cause the shop Manager Jeremy can't figure out the issue. Seems like we're not the only ones having issues with this place. Oh and I love the responses from the bad reviews on Google from Darrel, very professional lol what a joke. In late fall 2023, I drove two hours to survey a red, 2008 (I think) Cadillac SRX,... The online pictures were beautiful, the mileage was low I could find nothing to dissuade me on Carfax or Autocheck.com. Upon cursory inspection, it was apparent this was a flood-damaged vehicle from water stains on the headliner, rust on the seat rails and hardware in the engine compartment. Word to the wise,....ALWAYS inspect the seat rails, they should never rust under normal conditions. If they are rusty, they were submerged at some time in the vehicle's past. read more

We bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee at SS Motors and at first felt good about the personable service we received. Until we looked a little closer at the paperwork and noticed that we were charged about $400 more than what was advertised. I understand there are fees and taxes, but this was the purchase price. Then about a month and a half later, the cover plate under the tank fell off from being completely rusted through. We were told this vehicle had "no rust" and even their mechanic assured us that everything was clean and in great shape. We specifically asked if there were any issues we needed to be aware of and he said there weren't any. When we drove off their lot, we were excited to possibly buy another vehicle from them. But a friendly sales person does not make up for the unethical advertisement they put out. read more

If you're considering buying a car from these guys, you should either know a lot about cars so you know what to look for, or bring someone with you who can point out problems. This business is very sketchy and the people who work there give off a very weird vibe. The day I went into their office, the first thing I saw was Darrell behind the counter interacting with another customer in an unprofessional and, frankly, immature manner. They also don't seem to know very much about cars, which is weird. If you don't do a thorough inspection of the vehicle you're considering, be prepared for all kinds of surprises, because they will not tell you about any of it. My recommendation: unless they have something you really, really want and can't find anywhere else, avoid this place. It's not worth the risk. read more

Bought a 2002 Yukon XL Denali with 78k miles on it for $13k. They said they "replaced" the sunroof/moonroof but found out after a downpour, it leaks in two places. Found out the switch to control the air blowing from defrost to floor to vent is stuck on vent no matter where you turn the switch/dial and last but not least......after putting 2k miles on it, a local trusted mechanic told me the crank on the motor is shot, which means I need to drop a new motor in there. I even went to the mechanic and saw how shot the crank is on the motor. Mechanic also told me it was in an accident because of all the writing on the engine and transmission, plus the gaps in the headlights and bumper do not line up. SS Motors never told me about an accident or listed one on car gurus. BUYER BEWARE! if something is low miles and sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I will never buy another vehicle from these crooks. read more

Disregard the negative comments, check it out for yourself with a positive attitude and Keep in mind most are used vehicles NOT fresh off the line so there may be minor things you'll notice, then again there may not. Nice people sketchy vehicles. We found a few vehicles to drive with great miles and prices. They looked perfect on "paper". Advertised as no rust. Clean. The first had a ridiculous amount of animal hair in between the seats on the sides of seats and garbage in the storage areas. But OK we could clean that. Looked it over and the bottom was super rusty. ADVERTISED AS NO RUST. Like enough where main rods looked like they would crumble at any time. Visible leaks in multiple places. Exhaust had a hole in it. Vehicle two we drove about three blocks then smelled a terrible burning smell. Took it right back as we did not feel safe in it. possibly a rubbing brake but so unsafe! Vehicle 3 again had lots of rust underside and areas that were touched up on the body. Advertised as no rust. Vehicle four had leaks, lights out, took a reallly long time to start. We left it on the lot with the others. YES they are cheap but they are not looked over at all. I'm confident that they do not check anything. take them from auction right to the "sales" floor. People were nice but the wholde deal is really sketchy. I felt unsafe in every vehicle. We decided to pass and that felt like the right answer. I get it these are auction vehicles but any reputible dealer would at least make them road safe and disclose any issues. Ended up buying a different vehicle from another real dealer. Cheaper but looked over by them and safe. Some things wrong with it and they let us know so we could decide if it was somethign to fix or pass on the vehicle. I would avoid here unles you want to stick a bunch more money into a vehicle. Used and old has its issues of course but this place is super sketchy! My fiancé Purchased a vehicle back in September and engine blew 2 weeks later! They replaced the engine with discounted labor and their cost on parts. Got the car back months later and didn't shift/rev correctly. Brought the car back and they had it for 2 weeks without any communication. Horrible communication and customer service. Took the tbss another shop to find out it needs a new transmission now! An 18,000 truck costed us over 30k! I will never recommend this dealership to anyone. He drove this truck not even 300 miles and had to replace the 2 most expensive things that you can replace! Not to mention the mechanic told him "he beat the shit out of it", so the motor should be good. Very sad we had to go through this. read more

Darren and his crew did a fantastic job fixing my back bumper. It had some deep scratches and scrapes. It looks factory new now and my car was only "out of commission" for one full day (dropped my car off on a Wednesday night and was able to pick it up Friday afternoon). They were also the most affordable auto body shop in town. I got bids from a couple other places and Darren's price came in far less than anyone else. I was actually surprised how affordable his bid was. And while I didn't need one, this shop provides FREE car loaners. The other body shops I talked to charged for their car loaners. I can't recommend North Star Auto Body enough. I'm having them do some work on my other vehicle as well. read more

I brought my vehicle in to get the hood repainted, Darren provided a quote over the phone and keep in contact throughout the week as to the progress of my vehicle. My vehicle was done on time and I was charged exactly what he quoted. Darren and his crew went above and beyond the expectations I had when I first took my vehicle in. They made sure the job was done correctly, then also took extra steps in corrosion control to ensure the life of the hood would withstand the life of the vehicle. Usually I am skeptical of most auto body shops because everytime I get the bill it's usually doubled. Not the case with NorthStar AutoBody, I even got pictures emailed to me explaining exactly what they were doing to correct the problem.
