Dr. Runkle was super nice and saw me anyway taking time to look at my feet problems and making some helpful recommendations. What could have been a wasted trip Dr. Runkle made it worth my while even though I had no coverage. Outstanding patient care!

At the end of 7 months I saw him for a routine checkup telling him I still couldn't wear a shoe, it burns, stings, & keeps me up a night throbbing, It was red & very swollen. He said that it was fine & just part of the process. Getting a second opinion was the best thing I ever did. ONe week later I saw another podiatrist that had to remove my nail again & it was very infected with a lot of pus coming out of the hole from the so called hematoma. A biopsy of this area that was there from DAY 1 was done & came back Staph infection & a Granuloma. One week out with my NEW DOCTOR I am wonderful pain free & even wearing a shoe!! I cannot believe the difference of the 2 drs. I feel Dr. Runkle treated me as a cry baby & ignored everything I was telling him. I was told I was put on the wrong antibiotic from the get go & that being the reason for the infection. How sad is that. & new dr also could not believe a biopsy was not done of the area of where the hematoma was. Thank GOD I got a second opinion & got my life & toe back :)))))

I found Dr. Stevens here on Yelp after coming to my senses and leaving the Good Feet store. I had…read morea lot of pain in my left foot and assumed it was plantar fasciitis. Dr. Stevens listened to my concerns and had a look at my foot, then he had it x-rayed. It turns out I had a heel spur (see my review of the Good Feet Store, this is why it is so important to see a doctor for medical issues). Dr. Stevens gave me 3 options moving forward to treat the heel spur as well as immediate relief in the way of an air sock and arch supports (cost me less than $40). Later I opted for EPAT treatment to take care of the heel spur, the treatment wasn't comfortable but it worked and I am pain free and so happy. Dr. Stevens staff also fitted me for custom arch supports which had me back to walking for miles and enjoying it again. A short time later Dr. Stevens took care of my right ankle too. After my foot was treated I asked about my ankle as I was falling and spraining it a lot. Dr. Stevens examined it and showed me by comparison between both ankles that the ligament was really loose and suggested a procedure to correct it. I scheduled the surgery and went in to St. Francis outpatient center, Dr. Stevens performed a Brostrom procedure to reattach the ligament and enable me to walk on uneven ground without injury. In summary (I try to keep reviews concise) I had a wonderful experience at Indy South Foot and Ankle. I have been in often I found the office clean and inviting. Also, everyone there was kind, professional and just plain friendly. Scheduling was always simple and I never had to wait long to be seen. Finally, Dr. Stevens was phenomenal in all aspects of my care. He explained why I was having problems, gave me options, and displayed a kind and patient demeanor (I was pretty whiny during the EPAT treatments... I don't think most people have problems with this). I would recommend Indy South Foot Ankle to my mother and everyone.

Dr Stevens was polite and kind. I was relieved to finally have a plan in place for bunion surgery…read more HOWEVER, The office staff never contacted my insurance company for pre-auth. When I called to inquire I was told they "don't do that unless you ask". Baffled I went to the website and poured over all fine print. No where does it say the patient has to do their own insurance discussions. And nowhere does it say you just have to know to ask them, if you want them to engage with your insurance! In decades of medical procedures and appointments, this is the first place to ever do this to me. If I hadn't been proactive and instead assumed insurance was handled (why did they take my card twice?) I could have been stuck with a massive bill. When I talked to the staff supporting the other doctor (Runkle) she told me if it had been her, I would hear back either way (approved or not). Nice to know half the practice does things correctly, but unfortunate for me I didn't get that experience or other doctor and staff.
