I spent roughly 10 hours researching rental and professional lighting companies who wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for minimal lighting, including hundreds of dollars in fees. It felt like as soon as they heard wedding and sculpture garden they wanted to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. Having never needed this type of lighting I figured I was stuck. Before giving up I thought I'd give Thumbtack a try to see if I could find a small business that could work within our budget. Detrick was a God-send! In addition to coming out for the initial estimate, he came out two additional times to ensure everything was ready for our big day. He even helped our florist who saw what Detrick was doing and wanted to bring in their own spotlighting for the tables. He went above and beyond what I could have ever imagined and was more focused on giving us the best lighting possible than trying to nickel and dime us. I had a million questions and he was patient in helping me understand what could be possible. It's hard to find small business owners like this and I'm always weary of those who have mission statements that they never live up to but I can tell you without a doubt that Detrick lives out his mission (copied below) every day! If you hire him I promise you will not be disappointed! DS Lighting mission is to provide an excellent event lighting solution to our customers by incorporating Christian values of integrity, honesty, respect for each other, hard work, service, conscientiousness, cheerfulness, and friendliness. By treating each other, and our customers this way, we will maintain a high level of ethics, teamwork, and professionalism, while demonstrating a caring attitude towards all customers and their employees.

The man in charge of the sound did not know what he was doing and it showed throughout the reception. The aux from the sound system also messed up and my brother ended up taking a corded microphone and putting it to the projector. This was a wedding reception for 400 people. The sound system made the event look cheap and dysfunctional. The worst part of this was when I contacted Steve. He apologized for the ordeal but his solution to the mistake on his part was a $50 refund... We spent over $2000 on the setup. I really liked working with Steve prior to all this. However, this was not how I wanted my wedding reception to turn out.
