We ordered take out,and we did not enjoy any of the items we ordered. Mango Lassi: Tasted strange. I drank only a few sips. Normally this is a favorite of mine.My husband drank his but did not think it was as good as those he has had at other Indian restaurants. Butter Chicken: The flavor was "off." I ate a bit of it, but discarded most of it. The garlic naan was dry and much thinner than naan I have enjoyed elsewhere. My husband ordered a different chicken dish. (I cannot remember the name of it, nor can he.). He ate most of it but said he would not order it again. The tamarind chutney was ok. It too expensive. A tiny (2 oz) container that wasn't even full. The raita was ok. The container was larger and the price was more reasonable as compared to pricing on the chutney. Oh, well. I hope others like the food at this place better than we did. We have found other Indian restaurants in this area that we like much better. read more

Chaat Samosa, where have you been all my life? All the goodness of a mashed vegetable samosa with chickpeas and chutneys. Ordered mild but comes with a little kick, as does the Veg Samosa. Dal Soup (lentils) was perfectly comforting and delicious. Very filling. I should have stopped there! Saffron Bread Basket comes with regular naan, garlic naan, and one with shredded coconut (and other goodies) on the inside to make it sweet. Perfect to share as a table. Butter Chicken - The kids loved this. Ordered mild. Goat Vindaloo - Goat and potatoes. Big chunks of goat which were not as tender but not super fatty like other places. Ordered from DoorDash as the roads were a bit icy and snow falling and didn't feel my moving the rental car. Did the Mysore masala dosa, carrot halwa, Gobi Manchurian and mango lassi. Other than the Mysore masala dosa being as hot as a Carolina reaper (well in my eyes and palate probably a 2 out of 10 heat index rating) LOL my mouth was on fire and I was sweating but once the lassi calmed it down and the halwa I was able to breath again. :-) Great tasting food that was freshly prepared and next time I will order some milder items. read more

Wow this place is absolutely delicious. If you're looking to scratch that Indian food itch, Saffron Sree is where you should go in East Lansing. My friends and I eat here about once a month and have enjoyed every bit of food we've ate. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quick every time. When it comes to the ambience, the restaurant is quiet, nice and clean with classy decor hanging from the walls. And of course what is an Indian spot without some Bollywood playing on the tv in the corner. This is a great spot to go if you're new to Indian food or if you regularly partake. read more

The food is not bad but my wife and I both asked for mild, not spicy dishes. When they arrived they're both extremely spicy and we could barely eat them. The waiter told us that no spices had been added to them to make it spicy. If this is there mild version I can't imagine they're spicy version. We could barely take a bite of either one. Less than average in terms of food quality. The chicken dish I ordered : chicken tikka pieces done with grilled onions - called Kabab. Not really sure what dish he brought. Also got some chicken corn soup but it neither had any yellow corn nor chicken just baby corn cutting pieces. if you'd like baby corn, this is your soup. They should baby corn soup!! I've been a long/time patron of a venue practically across the street. That place started developing strange hours and was otherwise falling out of fashion. Today I made a decision to give Sree Saffron (takeout) a try after seeing a City Pulse writeup and, wow. This food was amazing. I genuinely feel like I've missed out by waiting so long to give them a try. Everything was hot and delicious. Customer service was excellent. Spice level was white-person appropriate but based on how I was treated at Sree, I'm 100% positive if I asked for "Indian spicy" they would gladly oblige. Seasoning was fantastic throughout my order and pricing was comparable to other places in town. This is now my go-to Indian Food place. read more

Amazing, incredible, out of this world. My partner is from southern India and she confirmed (after rigorous testing) that it is the only authentic Indian food in the greater Lansing area. I ordered Sree Saffron for delivery and ended up getting an onion uttapam, and the butter chicken. The butter chicken was 5 stars deliciousness and goodness, and the kind of hearty meal that makes you feel full and gives you energy to tackle life. The onion uttapam was fine, definitely more of a 3 stars. It was fine and decent, but nothing that I would want again. I definitely think there's yummier uttapam out there, but I think they definitely have a strong entree selection. I would totally go here again and try other things, since I had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted to order because everything sounded so delicious. read more

Great Indian spot in East Lansing! The hospitality at Sree Saffron is fantastic. The owner and waitstaff are kind and attentive and the dishes during the buffet are closely monitored. That being said, the buffet is great, but be sure to check their Facebook page before going to see the day's menu. It is also a very small location, so be mindful during the buffet of a wait. I have tried numerous entrees from Sree Saffron, most notably the spinach chicken curry, chicken vepudu, and goat kadai, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Their biryani is good, but when at the buffet, I find that I get a lot of piece of meat that are mostly bone. The gulab jamun is my favorite in the area, not too sweet and a perfect way to finish your meal. All in all, I would suggest Sree Saffron above all for Indian food in EL. read more

Delicious Indian dishes :) I have been to many places in Lansing and this is by far one of the most creamiest, flavorful, and uniquely concoction dishes! They were closed temporarily for a while and just recently opened again. Great food! Chili chicken is the best I've had, and their palak paneer is one of the most delicious as well. Service is wonderful and the manager is extremely helpful. This place was so good that my wife and I kept trying new things from the menu. In over 6 months of regular visits here, we never found an item that we were disappointed with. Update. This last experience was bad. The samosas were good. The naan was fine. The goat biryani was passable, but lacking the complexity of flavor I'd expect from a biryani. The butter chicken was ketchupy and so sugary sweet it should have been a dessert offering. Same with the palak paneer--bland and sugary. Next time I'll save my $ and go to Baskin-Robbins. read more
