Was looking for a lunch Taco Tuesday spot and we decided to try Sr. Sol. I came here before years ago but this was my first time back. We came during lunch, so the taco Tuesday crowd wasn't at its peak yet so we were able to get seated right away. Meal comes with complimentary chips and salsa which we indulged in until we decided to place an order for queso. Chips were well salted and I enjoyed the queso and the salsa. Since we came during lunch we were able to order the lunch special. Don't let the size fool you, it was definitely very filling. The tacos were 10/10 and flavorful. We also ordered some drinks. I got the mango margarita and it was soooo good. The waiter let us know there wasn't much of a difference between the marg and the daiquiri, so just something to note. I loved the margarita though and the next time I come I'm definitely ordering a pitcher. So sweet but you couldn't definitely still tell it's alcohol which I enjoy. Very satisfying range of food, and lovely service. Not only do they have a huge menu, but they can actually accommodate certain requests - for example, black beans weren't on the menu, but I was able to get them with my fajitas. Do yourself a favor and get an order of the cheese sauce to go with your complementary tortilla chips. Most of the seating is in commodious booths that are tall and that give privacy. However, the room can accommodate large parties as well at tables. read more

This is the worst Mexican food I've ever had! I just moved from California Ive been to Mexico several times. I order a tamale it came fried. Yes, Fried! Tamales are steamed and should be moist you can warm them up in the microwave. I know they are not usually made the same day but Sr Sol warmed the up in a Fryer! Maybe there a part of Mexico that they fry tamales, I sure don't want to go there.. I would be better off going to Taco Bell. Does anyone know of a good Mexican restaurant in Athens?? read more

Seemed like a cute, nice authentic restaurant and we've always heard the food was good so we decided to give it a shot. I innocently ordered the veggie burrito and this is what I received. Talk about appearance and literally nothing else on the plate? Not even some rice, beans, sour cream or even lettuce? I was pretty disappointed when this was all I received, usually you get more. However the burrito itself was pretty good. Nothing out of this world, but it got the job done and wasn't lacking in flavors. The prices were pretty standard and the servers were also alright. I would really like this place and would probably come here more often if the meals were a little better. But for now I don't see myself coming back here. read more

We did not know what to expect when we drove up to this restaurant, but we walked in and we were greeted and seated right away. They had a nice menu with many items we had wanted to try. The food was amazing as you can see from the pictures. The chicken wings were in a mild sauce but it was still very spicy, so be aware of that. Mild still hot here.. We had the chunky guacamole and it was soooo good. They bring out the tortilla chips and salsa along with 2 sauces in a bottle, one avocado/green and the other is orangish red and Spicy!! Came in right after they opened on a Saturday for lunch. They seem to have a good handle on the virus and indoor dining. They brought some warm chips and good salsa to eat while we went through a rather extensive menu. My wife decided on the half order of the nachos fiesta and I got the steak burrito fajita with cheeses sauce. My wife loved her nachos covered with two cheeses, steak and a lot of vegetables. The half order is perfect for one diner. My burrito was stuffed with a lot of steak, onions, and peppers. I poured the salsa on top to make it more tasty. The server was quite attentive. Once again a poor experience at Sr Sols. Tried multiple times to call an order in and each time was put on hold and the caller would not return to the phone. When we finally did get a hold of them. They couldn't hear us and hu g up. It's about what you would expect when you see the menu, however the thing that was most disappointing was we ordered a pitcher of margarita to go, and the cup in the picture was what we got. When the hostess could tell I was a bit confused, she immediately snapped back at me. I guess maybe they had been getting other pushback for the size of their "pitcher," so I get why she might've been aggravated, but a little empathy would've gone a long way. We were promptly greeted as we walked in. As soon as we were seated chips were brought to us with salsa and two sauces. Gerardo was our server and he was awesome. He kept our water glasses filled and checked back on us several times. He was knowledgeable about the menu when we asked him questions and gave great suggestions. I had the chicken Monterey and it was right up my alley: grilled chicken breast with zucchini, mushrooms, onions, and cheese sauce on top. Delicious. It came with rice and charro beans. My daughter ordered the chicken chipotle. We are pretty wimpy so we thought it was pretty spicy. If you are wimpy like we are you would probably be better off ordering something else. Me and my family had a horrible experience at this restaurant. The waiters are rude and clueless and the "managers" are even worse. We waited for about 30 minutes for our food. People who arrived 15-20 minutes after us received their food before us. We asked the waiter and he told us our food should be out soon and that there was an issue with the cook. We waited another 15 minutes or so and asked another worker again. We had a hungry 10 year old and a fussy infant we were all starving and completely done. He told my wife that he would ask someone and as soon as she turned around he gestured an "I don't care hand" he wasn't concerned at all and didn't care he didn't even try to speak to us. Another woman came up to us and asked us the issue with an attitude after we asked for the check and said " do you want the food or not" she was very rude. We payed for the one meal they gave my son which was being generous considering the service. Never coming back here again and we were the only black family there so this felt targeted that other white families got their food before us after arriving 15-20 minutes after us. read more

By far the best Mexican place in Athens! The margaritas are amazing and very well priced. If you are looking to drive home be careful as these drinks can sneak up on you. The food is great. I love the cheese dip, but come on who doesn't love cheese dip at a Mexican restaurant?! I normally order the chicken fajita quesadilla and it is always good. The service at Sr Sol is always good and there normally is not a long wait time. Even on weekends when the restaurant is crowed the longest I have ever had to wait is 30 minutes. Best, most authentic Mexican tacos in Athens period. And the salsa Verde that comes as a complimentary snack as you are seated is mildly spicy, just a little kick with great flavor. I have not had any of the alcoholic beverages but next time i visit I'll try one. The only thing i dont like that probably should be here (maybe I'm missing it) are chimichangas. We came in a party 04 and sit down there was a white couple That came in Right behind us they sat at a table behind us my sister and her friend was already seated call 10 minutes before my cousin and I got there let me go ahead and preference this we were A group of black people.
