Came in here not knowing a thing about cigars. Almost as soon as I walked in I was asked if I needed any help. I told the nice gentleman that I was looking for a nice cigar for may dad that would go well with Brandy. After a few questions about my dad and price range, I was shown a few recommendations. Picked two up, one for pops and one for myself. Well I was able to sit in the backyard and enjoy a cigar and a glass of brandy with the old man. Best place to buy, discuss, and smoke a quality cigar if you can't do it at home. There aren't any cigar bars. The lady that works here is very sharp. I walk in with a cigar that I know and like, and am also going to get a couple for my friend Gil's birthday because he loves a good cigar. I ask a few questions, she doesn't have this one inexpensive cigar that I know, but am definitely not attached too, she guides me to everything I want in a matter of minutes. It's awesome. She's a good-looking, intelligent woman that knows how to treat a customer. There are people in the back smoking in a square of big comfy chairs, and they have all the best lighters and accouterments to go with the cigars, pipes, tobacco and other fun hobbies. She sends me with some quality cigars, some more expensive than others, I'm talking $25 - they have much more expensive than that for those in the know, let's call them the KNOWSTERS with the MOSTERS. When I was a kid I remember going to the Squire in Coddingtown mall (The Pipe Squire) every year to pick up empty cigar boxes to use for my pencil box in my desk and get coffee (unrelated, but a fond memory) Now-many years later I've only taken up cigar smoking about 5 months ago. As a newer smoker it was kind of intimidating walking into a shop with so many to choose from. My first cigar I bought from them was one of their "house" cigars which I bought because I wasn't sure if I would really enjoy cigars to begin with, I was just testing the waters. I explained my situation and really appreciated that there was no pressure on me to buy anything I didn't want or need. Since the whole Shelter In Place situation have me time to research and try many different cigars on my own. I was able to really learn which types of tobacco I like and learn how valuable it is to have a local tobacconist AND a lounge to enjoy them. I had come in looking for a certain brand that they had sold out of. Based on my preferences I was recommended several other blends that I tried and were amazingly on-point with my tastes. The staff here is very knowledgeable and really do their research on tobacco blends and brand history. I like to stop by and smoke here because it's a comfortable, welcoming environment to relax they have a bunch of leather chairs and ashtrays in back and you can sit outside too if that is your thing. When the Squire was in Coddingtown mall, my sisters and I used to run in there just to try to figure out what that nice but unfamiliar smell was. After learning it was pipe tobacco, we'd make the Squire a part of every mall visit - popping in to literally sniff around and look at all the man-things on the walls, counters, and in cases. Our Dad graciously accommodated this strange ritual for a few minutes before redirecting our attention to the puppies and/or kittens in the pet store windows across the mall corridor. As an adult, I'm still strangely comforted by the smells and ambiance of this place. Although I don't smoke cigars myself, work has led me here a handful of times in search of gifts for clients, coworkers, or friends who are into cigars. Great place. Very welcoming. Nice selection of cigars and pipes. Anything a fine smoker could ask for. Game table with cribbage was utilizes by our group. The house was packed when we visited around 1600 on a Wednesday. Fair prices for a lounge in California. Plenty of free parking and free to smoke when you buy cigars in house.
