He was patient as we chose the body and trim color. We wanted to make sure we weren't THAT house on the block with the eyesore exterior paint color! He did such a great job, we had him work on our front yard. We had a chain link with ivy surrounding the perimeter and a walkway that started to become uneven. Martin removed the jungle, put up new beautiful wood fences, pavers in the walkway, turf where the gravel used to live, and drought resistant plants! Aesthetically pleasing AND low maintenance! Needless to say, we are beyond happy with the results and will definitely be working with him again in the future.

This is one fantastic construction company…read more Brett Construction just completed some tenant improvements in a new office building our organization was moving into. The cost was very competitive and they worked very closely with us to make certain that all of our needs were being met. Our input was sought at every step of the way and any questions were promptly answered. All of the Brett Construction staff from top to bottom were extremely thorough and courteous throughout the project. The quality of the work was tremendous. The project was completed on time and on budget. All of the workers and subcontractors were very diligent about providing a superior work product. They delivered significantly more than what was expected. They also maintained an extremely clean work space the entire time. In addition to the great work, the staff of Brett Construction including the President, Tom Platner, and Project Manager, Paul Lewis, could not have been more helpful assisting us with the permitting process and other issues that arose during the project. We have all heard the adage, "under promise and over deliver," but my experience with Brett Construction is that they promise top notch quality and still manage to over deliver. I would highly recommend Brett construction for any project being considered.

Offered to work with the county of San Mateo to get my permit approved. My structural engineer took care of it all, but it's nice to have a knowledgable and seasoned professional on the team. Although we ended up using another contractor and cannot speak on his design and construction work, I am confident he would've gotten the job done. With all the consultation and advice and visits, Jim only charged us $500. Due to our budget constraint, we chose another contractor. However, if we chose to go to with Jim Walters, I have no doubt they would've been great to work with. Jessica was an excellent communicator and was always easy to reach.

I first contacted Jim Walters when I discovered by accident in a tile store that the design by the…read morecontractor I planned to use to remodel my master bath would not pass code. It then made sense that they refused to pull permits and left that up to me only if I insisted. Jim immediately responded to the challenge, came up with a creative solution that would meet code and pulled the appropriate permits. His top notch team fully remodeled the bath, replacing the tub with full stone shower and bench, beautiful cabinets and warmed stone floor. It has the spa-like feeling I wanted and was so happy with that project that we gradually remodeled the whole condo. A few years later, Jim gutted a single story residence and his team did a full remodel inside and out. The result is beautiful space with hand-hewn reclamation hardwood floors or warmed travertine throughout. Throughout the project, as things evolved, I got different ideas and Jim always responded with creative solutions and no back-lash for changing my mind. The change orders increased the cost and schedule but it was worth it. I am totally pleased with the end result and practically have a new house with fully redesigned kitchen, baths, utility and bar area including wiring, plumbing to the street, gutters, doors, windows & courtyard. We even covered the tacky red brick on the front with stucco for a far more stately exterior. Even three years after the remodel, JWC and subs have responded to several minor problems with no additional charge. They are all professional nice people that I enjoy seeing and welcome into my house. Jim is very creative in responding to what seemed like my crazy requests. For example, I wanted to move the washer and dryer from the garage inside the house. Jim created a design to repurpose wasted space in the guest bath to a fully enclosed utility room with cabinets, while retaining a beautiful full bath with large Jacuzzi tub. I was not at all sure how to go about it but asked Jim to come up with a solution to extend a table from the kitchen island without blocking the interior access door to the garage. He and his team designed a beautiful table that easily pulls out of the island to create space about the size of a card table then easily retracts to avoid blocking pathway to the garage. I use that space more than the bistro table in the kitchen or the formal dining table. It is perfect for prepping vegetables, doing projects and serving meals while remaining a beautiful piece of furniture and not compromising the storage space in the island. Another example of creativity was turning an unneeded pantry into a beautiful bar area with copper sink, beer/wine fridge and under-counter ice maker. I just love the luxury of that ice maker with the tiny cubes of ice, it makes me smile whenever I scoop ice into a glass or pitcher and I didn't have to sacrifice kitchen cabinet storage to get it! We had a little problem with the paint on the garage floor but JWC re-did it until we got the right material to adhere to the concrete without coming up driving the car in and out. JWC is not the cheapest contractor but I firmly believe you get what you pay for. When the remodel was completed the re-fi appraisal was a little over what I paid for the property plus the extensive remodel, even though re-fi appraisals are notoriously low. I have recommended JWC to many friends who are equally pleased with the result and will continue to highly recommend JWC going forward,

I've had Jose clean my carpets several times because my dogs used to have accidents at home. They also came out great and without the awful chemical smell.
