I chose Square Root to decorate my wife's celebration of life this past weekend at the Waldorf Astoria in Dana Point. Sarah's decor was as elegant as they come and the floral arrangement's were amazingly stunning. These were some of the most impressive arrangements I have ever seen. We hired Square Root to do our florals for our wedding and we are completely disappointed and dismayed by their product and service. Square Root failed to provide us with all of the products that we ordered, and the products that we did receive were the exact opposite colors that we asked for. Furthermore, several of our guests commented that the florals looked wilted and old. To add insult to injury, instead of admitting fault, they tried to gaslight us throughout our wedding day. The first letdown came when I was moments from walking down the aisle and I was informed that I would not be receiving my bridal bouquet. Square Root insisted that we never ordered one. This is untrue. Not only did we order a bouquet, we had supplied them with a photo of exactly what I wanted on several occasions, both in-person and via email, and had several conversations specifically regarding the bouquet. They stated that the photo of the bridal bouquet I gave them was for the purpose of color palette only. They also said that this was our fault, as we should have gone over the invoice that was emailed to us and pointed out any discrepancies. However, neither My Husband or I had received an invoice, and they failed to produce proof that they had emailed us one. They also failed to produce a bridal bouquet. The second letdown came when we arrived at our reception and we saw the table arrangements. Now, let's go back to what Square Root had said about the photo of the bridal bouquet that I had given them: they insisted that it was for the purpose of color palette only. If that were true, then why were all the flower arrangements white and pastel pink, when the photo had primarily burgundy, desert rose, and sage green flowers in it? Square Root then contradicted themselves and insisted that this was the color palette that we agreed to, not the photo. David went on to insist that while we were at the studio, he had taken out a sample of flowers and showed us what we would be receiving. Both my husband and I were present for both meetings at the studio and what David described never happened. At both meetings we attended at the Square Root studio, we had emphasized that we wanted an autumn color palette for our October wedding, and they were agreeable to that. During our second meeting with them, they had presented us with a vision board that showed exactly what we asked for: autumn colors with an emphasis on burgundy. Square Root knowingly provided the wrong color palette on our wedding day and, after my husband and I spent a year carefully planning our wedding, they went and completely changed the aesthetic of our wedding. The worst part about it was they then tried to do a Jedi mind trick on us and convince us it was what we wanted. The next letdown came the following day when we received an email from our wedding coordinator. This is what it said: "Square Root didn't really set up any of their provided items. The [venue] staff set out all of the chargers for the place settings. Myself and my assistant set out all of the place setting roses and put out all of the floral arrangements. The delivery guy seemed very overwhelmed and didn't have any knowledge of set ups or events. Noticing he was running behind, [we] offered to assist and asked about how the centerpieces were supposed to be set out and he said "I don't really know, I haven't worked for this company before" so we made it work and set the room. He arrived with me at 2pm and all he was able to set up by 3:40pm was the poles for the pipe and drape. [My assistant] and I did everything else." In the end, Square Root charged the florals "at cost." However, their prices are so inflated that their "cost" would have been any other florist's full-price , and any other florist would have treated us as valued costumers, instead of treating us as an after-thought, as Square Root had. It had never been about price and giving us a discount does not nearly make up for the fact that they completely failed us on such grand level and then proceeded to gaslight us every step of the way. read more

Square Root did my wedding this past month in Dana Point with 400 guests and they are literally the best wedding production company. I met with David early 2021 for our initial design meeting where he gave me hours of his time to actually understand what my vision is. He provided lots of creative ideas and professional opinions on what would go well with the theme for my wedding. After that, he presented my mom and I with a really detailed proposal. Which I really liked that he wrote out every thing that the company was to provide for my event. There was so much transparency and also honesty with what my vision is and what it is going to cost me. After we booked them, we had multiple meetings to go over the layout and also tweak the design. We also walked around their large studio where he showed me some of the rental items that they had that would be used for the event. I really liked how comfortable he was with us to show us pretty much anything that was in reach that we wanted to see. I could tell that David was a perfectionist and really passionate about his work. We also had a mock up with my coordinator and that day I really will remember forever cause it was the first time seeing one of my large arrangements and it was BEAUTIFUL. At that moment, I realized that everything we had been talking about, planning for, drawing out was going to be executed to perfection on wedding day. The days leading up to the event David made sure that any small detail was accounted for. On the wedding day, I had a ballroom reveal with my husband and I went in with my eyes closed. Litearlly I could SMELL the fragrance of my flowers from the whole ballroom. Then I saw the rest of the decor and I was actually speechless. I took so many pictures with the decor with my family, husband, and guests of the wedding. My guests were raving about how beautiful the ballroom was all night. Now I have been looking at the sneak peak videos and photos and my decor looks SO BEAUTIFUL in them. I am so happy that I booked SRD and got the oppurtunity to work with David who made sure that my event was exactly how I wanted it to be. I highly recommend SRD for your wedding! read more

Incredibly unprofessional. I spent nearly 4 hours with Alex working on my floral design for my wedding. He promised to send me a contract by a certain day, when he didn't I followed up and left him a message and got a copy of the contract emailed to me. The contract had the name of the groom for the bride and the name of the bride for the groom and most importantly the wrong date. So I responded and told them that they had the wrong date and they responded with "fantastic the date (correct date) works even better for us". Alex then proceeded to call my fiancé (even though he spent 4 hours with me) to tell him he wouldn't be doing our wedding - his excuse? He had the wrong date. This was 1 month before my wedding. There wasn't any truth to his claim about the wrong date since he had known about our event and confirmed it with my planner numerous times, AND most importantly his assistant responded to me IN WRITING that the "correct date" worked event better for them. My wedding planner who is absolutely amazing stepped in and found us a FANTASTIC florist who was incredibly professional to save the day. Planning a wedding in the madness of the 2022 Wedding Season was difficult enough, but Square Root and their unprofessionalism made it a lot more stressful than necessary. I would never recommend them to anyone. They are either too arrogant to care about people leaving them bad reviews or simply too big to care - but either way and regardless of the size of the event it is petty to waste someone's time and then call the party that isn't involved to cancel something with a fake excuse. Weddings are huge occasions and should be handled by professionals who actually care about the bride and groom. I wouldn't go with them for any event and would not recommend them to anyone. Stay away and go with someone else - there is nothing more stressful than having your florist back out 1 month before your big day. read more

I just had my wedding this weekend and square root did my flowers and decor. I can honestly say that I was BLOWN AWAY by the flowers at my wedding. I am a very difficult person to please, as I am very detail oriented. I told Alex (one of the owners) multiple times at each meeting how picky I am, and that flowers were the most important thing to me when it came to how I wanted my wedding to look. He totally understood my vision and took it to the next level. When I saw the flowers at my ceremony site I was already pleased with the work, but when I walked into my ballroom that night, and saw it for the first time with nobody in it, I started to cry because I have never seen a room as beautiful as that. I had showed Alex a ton of photos of weddings that had flowers on the ceiling, but each photo I showed him I picked apart and told him how I wanted mine. He nailed the look. I also told him that I have never liked a sweetheart table, and that I better be impressed with my sweetheart table, and again... he nailed it. My center pieces were unbelievable. They were large, and FILLED with flowers. Not only did he do the decor and flowers, but he helped me find reliable vendors to add white carpet to the ballroom, for my dance floor, and much more. The absolute BEST florists, and overall wedding production, on earth!!! They absolutely FAR exceeded any expectation I could have had. That says a lot for any bride who wants the perfect wedding day! Once I saw the ceremony site and ballroom set up..I was floored and in tears. I squeezed Alex (the owner) and couldn't have thanked him enough. I wanted to wait until I received all of my professional images to give a true review, but realized I didn't want to wait any longer...because they deserve the praise and I want them to know how much I appreciate them! I tirelessly searched for and met with several florists for our 8.26.16 wedding at Pelican Hill. I started noticing that Square Root almost seemed like the exclusive florists for Pelican Hill, because they're there pretty much every weekend, for every wedding. Now I see why. So...I started stalking them on Instagram and watching the awe-stricken, gorgeous, meticulous details of their weddings. I was so excited, but also intimidated, to meet with them. Once I met with Alex, the "Floral Genius", I was so blown away by his vision, that I immediately knew that I'd work with him. But it wasn't just that he is amazing at his craft...he's an absolute sweetheart of a human being. In the wedding world, I quickly learned that not everyone is very "nice" (not even close). However, Alex and his team were absolutely incredible in every sense of the word. Alex, Sarah and Rachel (the two bad a$$ sisters) took every call, responded to my million emails, and met with me several times to ensure we had everything perfect. They understand and appreciate how important this day is for brides, so they hold your hand through every step of the way. Their professionalism, endless patience, quick responses and personal touch was unparalleled. I actually miss bothering them a zillion times a day, with my endless questions :). For those who are obsessed with Pelican Hill like myself, the ever famous rotunda is why crazy brides like myself bankrupt themselves to have a wedding there. However, Square Root adorning the rotunda with drapes, hanging glistening chandelier, placing huge flower arrangements on the rotunda's pillars and on gorgeous mirror pedestals, having a glossy white catwalk, and just flowers flowers everywhere...is what makes the pictures you see look so gorgeous. Yes...They do soooooo much more than just flowers! What's even more cleverly amazing is that the ballroom centerpieces are initially used for the ceremony, and then redirected to the ballroom to be placed on the large vases as centerpieces. Brilliant. Inside the ballroom, I can't even begin to describe how insane the flowers looked. They were flourishing and opulent. Then the satellite candle arrangements of floating white candles in tall clear votives. It was just insane!!! But not only did the flowers look storybook, they set up tufted white bar front and backs that looked so modern and chic, which was also used for the DJ cover. Then for the tables, they set up shimmery gold charger plates that made the entire table "pop". So many more details, they're just so brilliant at their craft. Also...I myself am Persian, while my husband is white. It was important that whoever I worked with understood the blend of the two cultures. There are little details Persians have, such as the "Sofreh". Square Root knew exactly how to beautifully place the flowers all around the table, and then redirected them for our sweetheart table inside. So clever. As you can see from my images, I chose white and off white as my colors. There were a mix of roses, tulips, hydrangeas, and phalaenopsis orchids. The high and low centerpieces were something out of a magazine. I was so blown away, I can't even describe it into words. My bouquet was an absolutely stunning mix of HUGE white cascading phalaenopsis orchid. The posted images speak for themselves. I wish I already had the professional images to share. I honestly can go on and on about how amazing Square Root is. I just want them to know how much I TRULY appreciate everything their team did to make our wedding the most incredible experience anyone who attended has ever witnessed! I'm somewhere between 3-4 stars with this company. I'd give them a 3.5. They are definitely overpriced for the amount of actual flowers that you get, but I don't mind paying the extra $ for the artistic direction and uniqueness of their pieces. Minus .5 stars for the cost, but minus a full star for the actual errors on my wedding day and lack of attention to detail. We had ordered two custom-decaled mirrors to be set with 2 lounge areas at our wedding reception at the Ritz-Carlton, and the workers broke one mirror on the day of the wedding, so our 2 lounges were asymmetric with our custom-designed decals. They were an important part to our vision and theme that day, so that was incredibly disappointing. You would think a company (our invoice was about $17,000) by the way , that works with this level of clientele would be able to hire workers who are more cautious with critical elements and pieces of wedding decor. Minus 0.5 star there. Minus another .5 star to the workers who completely covered up my $700 custom-designed aisle runner with petals. My husband and I had ordered and designed a custom aisle runner for the Church for the day of our wedding. We also wanted a petal design for the remainder of the Church aisle. The workers who did the petal design were not detail-oriented enough to leave our custom-design monogram visible at the beginning of the aisle. I did not even notice this until we saw our videography footage. It is beyond my comprehension how covering up a monogram with flower petals would make sense, but there's not much I can do about that now. Like I said, when you're paying a $17K+ bill, you expect a certain caliber of detail-oriented work and service, and I just don't feel like we got what we paid for in that regard. In hindsight, I might have used another company, who could have given me similar quality for the same price but with the attention to detail and lack of error. The floral pieces that we did have were absolutely beautiful and flawless, and our iron trees were a huge hit, so they definitely get their 3.5 stars there. Our reception, overall, on the larger scale of things, was absolutely gorgeous, and we've received so many compliments on the look and design of our ballroom, but again, this company is a bit lacking on the attention to detail, or at least the set-up workers are. I hope they are a bit more selective with their set-up employees in the future. A 5-star floral company should have 5-star staff. read more

I called Square Root last minute on a Friday afternoon for a Saturday delivery. I spoke with Rachel explained I needed an arrangement for my Grandmothers 87th birthday to be delivered and she said of course we can do it. So long story short I called at the last minute they were able to accommodate my needs even though they weddings and other deliveries to make and the flowers arrived on time and were GORGEOUS. Even something simple as a dozen roses becomes extraordinaire and beautiful. We worked with the Square Root team as a one-stop-shop for our wedding ceremony and reception decor at Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara last year. We received quotes from several event designers in SoCal, and Square Root provided the most reasonable estimate. David was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. We had several meetings at their office in Irvine to explore warehouse inventory and iterate on floral design. David patiently worked with me even as I managed to change my "theme vision" 3-4 major times before the wedding. He created a stunning mock up based on our preferences and goals, and the final wedding decor was magical and elegant. In particular, he was very sensitive to my dislike for the "floral ball" wedding look, and his team came up with beautiful and sophisticated organic arrangements that fit with our old world Spanish theme. Working with Square Root was a fantastic logistics decision as well, since they managed table/ballroom layout, dance floor, floral, table decor, linens, furniture rentals, and ceremony decor. This took a lot of the stress out of event coordination between vendors, which felt quite daunting with a 300 person guest list. We used a separate vendor for lighting and draping, and David was very agreeable about working with our other wedding vendors. He was also sensitive to my concern about runaway wedding costs, and worked constructively with my wedding planner to cut line items or identify alternatives to optimize overall spending. He will not hesitate to offer honest feedback if he feels something is not necessary or doesn't add to the decor. I would highly recommend David and the team at Square Root both for the quality of event production and creativity they bring to the table, but also for their high level of professionalism, ability to listen to clients, and excellent event execution. read more
