This Saturday afternoon, I was taking my 16-year-old nephew on a little restaurant-hopping adventure, where we're trying places I've never been before and tasting a few appetizers along the way, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to finally stop in. There's plenty of parking, and you definitely won't miss this place while driving by. I had been told it was kind of a biker bar, but it was pretty empty when we arrived, so we didn't really get to experience that side of it. When you walk in, there's SO much to look at--colorful signs, pirate and mermaid statues, decorations everywhere, and tons of seating options both inside and outside. We decided to sit outside near the giant tree under a covered table. It was definitely hot and humid that afternoon, though! When we first arrived, I went to the bar and asked if we could sit anywhere or if there was a hostess stand. I was told to just find anywhere we wanted to sit, so that's what we did. It wasn't very busy, although I wasn't really paying attention to how many employees were working that day. There was another table across from us, and when a waitress came over to help them, she looked at us and basically said, in a pretty snarky tone, "I guess I'll go get you menus too." She definitely did NOT seem like she was in a good mood. Thankfully, we ended up getting a different waitress, and she was absolutely wonderful! She was super friendly, helpful, and from New Jersey, so we had a nice little conversation with her. As for us, we were pretty simple. My nephew ordered a sweet tea, I grabbed a beer, and we shared some jalapeño poppers. We hung out for a while, enjoyed our drinks and snack, and then headed off to our next stop. We weren't difficult customers at all--we were literally just looking for a quick snack, a refreshing drink, and then onto the next place. Despite the slightly awkward start with the first waitress, I'd definitely come back. I'd like to experience the place when it's busier and really get a feel for the atmosphere because it definitely has a lot of personality!

Literally instead of a hello We had already been told this by the hostess as she seated us and considering they've got it on the menu as well as at the table in big letters, I'm assuming this is a problem for most people. It is for me. I will usually tip even at lunch 25% for good service but when the management is forcing me to pay 18%, whether the service is good or not, then that's what I'm going to pay. Management is not doing their wait staff any favors. I took a star off for that. As far as the food, I was pleasantly surprised. I had fried green tomatoes and the fish and chips. My niece had a smash burger. She says hers was excellent. The fried green tomatoes were literally the best I've ever had. Which is saying a lot because I love this appetizer and will usually order it in any southern restaurant. The fish and chips were also good but not great. The fish was tender, and the breading was crispy and not too soggy, but it was not perfectly crispy. The french fries were lacking in flavor and chewy. But basically the food was good and the service was satisfactory but not great. But I will be back to try other items on the menu -/ if you're setting the bar for an 18% tip then that saves the customers a lot of money when they would usually do 25 to 30%. When I see this in a restaurant, it tells me that the management does not want to dip in their profits to give their employees health insurance, but depends on the customer to do it for them.

So excited to have a new place to hangout, esp for only 21 and up. View is fantastic, drinks and service are really good. Food is ok, for outside tiki bar food. We got some wings, coconut shrimp and later some nachos. A little messy, but tasty. No table service, you get a pager and do your own pickup when they page you. Which, at first I was kind of meh about...but then I realized it was kind of nice to sit out there at a table on the water all afternoon and not feel like rushed to close my tab and go bc my server wanted us to leave, etc. We ended up staying for the whole afternoon and had a great time. Live music was great! Oh small thing, maybe but the bathrooms were clean, which is a pet peeve of mine to have to use a dirty bathroom, so kudos on that. Coronas were $4, my rum punch was $7, thought that was decent, esp for the view and vibe. Will definitely be back. read more
