What first stood out to me was a minor concern he fixed that I pointed out upon consultation. At this point, I haven't committed to any offer nor was a quote even given at this time. My gate didn't close properly due to the wood deforming overtime and he went and got his tools and willingly realigned the latch with no expectation of pay or business in return. It was cold out at this time too. He left and I got my quote a few days later. Because of his act of kindness, I chose to go with Fence101. He is a busy person and scheduling may not be immediate, but this is to be expected for a company that does good work. After his team came out and completed the work, I had some concerns about workmanship. To others, it may not have been anything, but being the meticulous person that I am, I brought it to his attention. I was easy about it and he could have just given me some lame excuse, but with no hesitation, he offered to replace the whole panel in both areas that they fixed (2 panels). It wasn't necessary at all, but he stood by his company, their work, and showed he truly cares. You can easily tell, Fabio is truly a good and honest person. His workers are also very kind and polite people as well. everything came out great and I'm happy. In the subsequent meetings with Nick for design plan, quotes, etc., Nick was prompt, friendly and transparent. With respect to pricing, I received two quotes on my job; Smith-Bopp was more than 25% below the other quote I received. Not only was their quote good but when the job was complete they actually came in a bit below the stated quote which was a welcome and unexpected surprise. We hired Nick during the very busy spring season and the lead time between the initial quote and when installation commenced was very reasonable. They started the job modestly behind schedule (~ 1 week), however once installation began Nick and his team constructed the fence quickly and diligently. He told me they were booking 8 weeks out and the best way to reach him was via email. On 8/14 I get the estimate. That day I called Arrow and paid the 50% deposit. Well, 8 weeks rolls by with no word from Barry so I emailed him. No response. Week 10 comes and I emailed him again. After no response I call Arrow on 10/15 and speak with a woman who said she will have him contact me because "he is responsible for his own scheduling". That day Barry finally responds to my email by saying "he should be able to get to it in the next couple of weeks." Hmm. Well, 2 more weeks roll by with no word from Barry. On 10/29 I email Barry to ask when they will be coming. No response. On 11/13 (THREE MONTHS after my deposit!) I was fed up and called to cancel the job. I reached a woman and explained what happened and why I was cancelling. No apology, no empathy, no nothing. In fact, she was curt and unfriendly. I was even more surprised to find out that Barry is one of the owners of the company (I asked). Now that is a head scratcher.
