Allow me to refute just about everything that was said from the first review... which was left by…read moresomeone with no prior reviews, has no friends on Yelp, and didn't even use their name... Seems they blamed the retailer for a manufacturer problem, which I don't think is fair.
Stephanie and the other folks at Plyto are all great! I went there to get a cover and glass for my Note 5. They have a huge selection of cases and covers for pretty much any phone you can imagine. They installed both perfectly, and my phone is protected. Upon hearing that we were going to the USA for holiday, Steph mentioned Ultra Mobile, which is an American company that does sim cards with unlimited use--available for sale at Plyto. We did a bit of research and it looked great--unlimited talk to any American number, UNLIMITED LONG DISTANCE BACK TO CANADA, and unlimited data: the only catch was that the amount of data you got at 4G speeds was limited, depending on the price you pay. Also, your phone needs to be unlocked. We opted for the price level that gave us 1GB of data at full speed, knowing that we would not hit that level while we were in America. Since we were there for 11 days, this was a better price than just paying your Canadian carrier $5-$8 a day, especially when you only get 50MB per day that way... Ultra Mobile is the cheapest provider of all the companies in America that do this, and they use the T-Mobile network, so you know you'll get service.
She unlocked my wife's phone pretty much immediately, and then got us the sim card. She gave us instructions on how to activate the card, and who to contact if we had any issues while we were in the United States. Best of all, she gave us our American telephone number in advance, which was ours to use for the duration of the trip. In fact, if we so chose, we could keep that number and have it permanently for when we travel... given that the lowest price option is $19 USD a month, it's almost worth it... but this time, we just let it expire at the end of the month.
Even though she prepared us just in case there was any trouble, when we landed in the U.S. we just swapped sim cards, restarted the phone, and we were all set! No difficulties whatsoever with her Galaxy S6 Edge. It was great to have a local number and local area code for making reservations, arrangements on our trip, etc. Thanks so much Stephanie and Plyto!!!
