Lawson's Landing - Campsite 728

Lawson's Landing

Crabbing is great and there's lots to do from clamming to fishing to exploring. We saw last time they are building toilets and showers, that will be nice. We haven't experienced any rude staff. The new car thing is a bit annoying, but not outlandish since we've been to many other places where they are strict with extra cars. In the peak of summer it's very crowded and there can be some sketchy people, you might want to lock up or put away coolers or anything expensive.

Let's talk about Lawson's Landing. Overpriced items and sub…read morepar place to stay. This isn't a theme park, but the people there are definitely characters in a bad tv show. HARD PASS! The Owner, a person I would NEVER want to be be associated with. A real piece of work. Observed many times over the years shares entitled rude behavior with that of a tycoon. Two years ago, I'll never forget, this guy was complaining to ANY Customer who would listen about how he does so much to keep this place open and that people that complain about anything and everything are so ungrateful. It was really really colorful and downright disgusting. Excuse me? The people that PAY YOUR TAXES are ungrateful that you don't upgrade the sites they pay extreme amounts for? That you don't offer any amenities such as a shower or even that thing called...electricity? That you cater towards camping trailers with no water hookups? Mmmm, ok guy. Breathe. You do not provide toilets. Let alone ADA compliant areas for the toilets. You provide nasty ports potty that aren't even level on the ground. How is anyone supposed to wheelchair into the porta potty? They shake when you are in them. And they are disgusting. Your workers? blast them with a sudo washer and don't even take out the seat covers OR the toilet paper....and miss all the grossness. And then leave the residual water/product....that's just nasty. You blast gross stuff off the floor ONTO the toilet paper and seat covers because of laziness. I mean seriously....it's barely 50 outside and now I have to sit on a nasty went porta potty because your are too lazy to upgrade, let alone move paper until you are done? Penny pinch much? And what a concept of adding a smelly paper tree to remove some nasty stink. The photos are of the "handicap" porta potty. The others were gross, too. If not worse. These were after a "clean" too! You also do not provide electricity or anything that resembles comfort here. The grounds are totally unlevel on the camp sites. So, you won't be seeing many disabled folks here. OOOOO, all the dumpsters were FULL. Everywhere. It was a Wednesday. Majority of the camp sites are behind dunes. Unless you go to the seawall area, with no running water there either. Nothing to see but your neighbors getting drunk and dogs wandering everywhere. Fun. Never saw a "camp ranger" once. You have so many sites crammed next to one another so you can benefit off making money. 60$ for a pair of sweats? What? Like, woah guy. Ego much? Ohhhh, let's talk about the campers! Zero enforcement. Parking in other peoples spots and parking IN the roadways. Legit blocking people. And then have rude persons get defensive because they got asked politely to move their illegally parked vehicles from your purchased spot. So like, no, this place is not great. You get belligerent people and their visitors.....mmmmm, fun. This place is not worth it. Overcrowded, too. This isn'y Yosemite, and if it were, it would at least offer real amenities. This place does not.

The marina provides gated access, ample parking, a beach and grills for post-boating fun. The grounds are clean and well kept and the slip rental process is simple and painless. We enjoy and appreciate this business so much that we've recommended them to friends and family as well.

We got our boat a day early n I called to see if we could come a day early and was told in a very rude manner "No we are busy, I said we had no where to put the boat and was told I don't care I said No , come Tuesday as we said. We found a place to leave the boat over night and we brought it Tuesday at 330 making sure the women was home from a doctor appointment and when I got there I called their number as I stood outside their door listening to them talking and they wouldn't answer the phone so I called up hello we're here with the boat and Paul Redding came out with Glory yelling behind him to get out and get out now , I said we had an appointment for the boat slip and I had their money and contract and they both were yelling at me to leave , they said I will not tell them what to do and they were not ready for us to come so get out and take your boat somewhere else ? So their we stood with a boat and no where to put it because these very unprofessional rude people who told me to come after 230 on Tuesday and they had many empty boat slips and we were there to rent for the entire year with cash , I don't suggest anyone use this business , the caretakers appeared to be very unstable

Safe Harbor Loch Lomond - Tam in the background of a refreshing walk

It's about a mile and a half from the beginning of the parking lot to the end and back. There are bathrooms at Andy's as well at the beginning of the trailhead. The trail is along the water and you can see Mount Tam, the Richmond Bridge, and the East Bay in the distance as well as East and West Marin Island which are close in distance. Many birds like herons flock to this area. It's great for a stop to walk around if on a drive through China Camp.

Some marinas are well-managed. Loch Lomond is not one of them…read more The location is charming--the weather's usually pleasant, the views are lovely, and Andy's Market next door is a gem. But none of that makes up for the absolute disaster that is this marina's management. Power at the slips is unreliable--often dipping as low as 206 volts on a 50-amp pedestal, well below safe standards for sensitive equipment. Report basic maintenance issues, like leaky spigots, and you'll be met with silence. Maybe it's a revolutionary self-cleaning dock feature that I'm not privy to. Far more troubling, though, is the culture of selective rule-making and enforcement. Pat, the harbormaster, zips up and down the dock on a scooter, seemingly deciding who gets harassed and who gets a pass. Christine splits her time between marina duties and bartending at the yacht club, bringing inconsistency and attitude to both. In fact, the dysfunction here is so pronounced that it made headlines. A Marin Independent Journal article from 2013 (with several follow-up updates) details a surreal incident in which a marina regular bit off Pat's finger during a dispute in the vacant lot next door (now occupied by the housing development known as "The Strand"). The man had been building a catamaran out of Home Depot parts--destined for Hawaii. Sounds unbelievable--until you've spent time here. Then it just feels like another day at Loch Lomond. I briefly served as the entertainment director for the yacht club, and while the members were gracious and welcoming, their warmth couldn't compensate for the mismanagement that defines the harbor itself. Avoid--unless you're nostalgic for chaos.

The staff here are incredibly unpleasant and they have policies that are nearly impossible to comply with. I bought a boat in this marina and before they would give me access they require I show them proof of ownership. I've never heard of this requirement before and I should have known what was coming. If you make an appointment with the DMV so you don't have to lose a work day it takes a month to get your new registration. Here is the rub, you only have 30 days from the day your boat is sold to vacate the marina. So you buy the boat, you are not allowed access to it for nearly a month and then you have to immediately leave. This really killed me because I bought an old boat that had been sitting for a long time. So somehow I was supposed to make is seaworthy to leave without access to it. I was going to try to keep it in the marina a couple months to get it in good shape but they told me the wait list was full. Every time I tried to talk to them about the situation they kept telling me "I've made the policy clear!" and "I hate when people ask me to break policy!" The marina was mediocre to begin with but the staff made it my worst marina/boating community experience I've ever had. I highly recommend avoiding this place.

Brickyard Cove beat them all out. it's nice to have the little town of Point Richmond nearby to catch dinner or pick up some supplies. we also like to have breakfast at All's Fare, the local diner at the dock. but, hands-down, the greatest thing about this place is how fast we can get out onto the bay and get the sails up. it takes just minutes! the only thing i would like to see is free wifi. they had something set up but apparently it's not worked out well and they're changing over to something else, but it's sure taking awhile for it to get set up. other than that, we love this marina!
