A friend and I decided to get pedicures and to try gel nails out this time since it was…read moreconveniently close. Boy, was that a terrible decision. It started when we walked in and there was a pungent smell of sulfur, then when using their restroom there was dried urine all over the seat. Upon sitting in the pedicure chair we noticed the room was very unorganized. Not only that but the water was cold. There was one person working on the both of us as it is just the two that run the show there. My friend got a gel pedicure and had gel from a previous visit at a different salon. Tell me why the worker decided to take the electric e-file with a bit that was only to be used on acrylic and anc, then followed up with a 180 grit sand on her bare nail. It is very clear that the person working on us did not attend any type of schooling and was taught within the salon privately. He admitted to illegal services such as the removal of ingrown toe nails and how often they perform that (per request as I was told) It took me to educate him as I am a NYS LICENSED nail technician about how that "service" is illegal and I also had to inform him about sanding bits, when they should be used, and how to remove gel. During the pedicure he was consistently switching between the two of us, without gloves or proper hand washing. The tools were kept on a microfiber towel that had dried polish on them and appeared dirty. He sprayed the nail clippers with alcohol and dried them with the microfiber cloth. He used his bare nails to clean up the nail of flooded polish instead of a wooden pick or gauze. The brushes for the feet were soiled and the bristles made it clear that they had been used multiple times on other clients. Entering the foot mask tub with bare hands (switching between us) instead of using a popsicle stick for sanitary purposes. There were no fans to dry regular polish so he dried my toes with a corded HAIR DRYER. When my toes were drying he used a cuticle pusher dipped in acetone to "clean up" the flooded polish which did nothing. He did not know how to apply gel polish properly, leaving my friend at risk for contact dermatitis as there was gel polish on her SKIN. He also left his fingerprint smudges in between curing sessions because he was visibly distracted. After the comedy show of watching this get done between the two of us, we went to pay. They tried to charge $65 for my friends gel pedicure and $45 for my regular pedicure. This was with no special add ons or treatments. We tried to talk to the owner who was incredibly childish about handling confrontation, criticism, and poor service. Degrading us in front of clients saying we were looking for free service. We tried to have a conversation about how poorly they came out and how unclean it was to which of course he responded negatively and demanded we pay with him taking only $5 off and refusing to see the work that was done after we had taken our shoes and socks off to show him. As a salon owner, he should be incredibly embarrassed and disappointed with how he acted and should have tried to make things right. We of course paid with the $5 off and left very unhappy. Needless to say, I will be reporting them to the board of cosmetology and we encourage you to steer away and if you have made it this far into reading, thank you.

Disappointing Experience - Would Not Recommend…read more Being new to the area, I gave this salon a few tries for both cuts and color. Unfortunately, my experiences were consistently disappointing. On one occasion, a stylist applied my hair color using a dry brush, pulling so hard while putting in the hair dye that I had to ask multiple times for her to stop yanking my hair back. My hair is already fragile, so this was incredibly uncomfortable and concerning. I eventually found a stylist I liked for color, but when I booked an appointment with her in the morning, I ended up sitting there for over 25 minutes before I had to ask what was going on--only to be told that she had completely forgotten about me. I had taken time off work for this appointment, which made the situation even more frustrating. After I left, she texted me an apology and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Absolutely not. Beyond these specific incidents, the salon itself has a cold, dreary, and somewhat snobby atmosphere. The pricing is also way too high for the level of service provided. It seems like hairstylists rent their own booths, so you might get lucky with one person, but overall, I cannot recommend this place.

I visited this nail salon yesterday for an acrylic fill since my usual technician was booked…read more Unfortunately, I had a poor experience along with a pricing discrepancy. I came in as a walk-in and was told there was an opening at 10:30 a.m. They actually started my manicure earlier than they stated, which I appreciated. However, the technician who initially prepped my natural nails and grown-out acrylic appeared to be inexperienced. He used several different sanding bits I'm not used to seeing, including a coarse sanding bit. At one point, a piece of the sanding material broke off and embedded itself into my natural nail, causing discomfort in my nail bed. He tried to remove it with a nail file, causing pain that made me retract my hand. While he stepped away briefly to answer the phone, I ended up removing the piece myself with another nail. He then continued sanding uneven and repeatedly switching sanding bits which made me feel uneasy. After the prep, I was passed to another technician to complete the fill and apply UV polish. She asked what nail shape I wanted, and this is where the pricing discrepancy started. She informed me that wanting an almond shape would increase the fill price to $55 instead of the posted $47. I explained to her that no other place does this and that the pricing displayed on the wall lists $47 for a fill using a credit card, but does not mention any additional charge for different nail shapes. She became irritated and said she would charge $52 instead. She then went on a rant about the long experience she has, the cost of her equipment, and the quality of her materials. She also stated that she treats nails as art and does a good job, and charges some clients upwards of $80 as a base price. Despite these claims, after leaving I noticed that two of my nails are crooked and the polish was poorly applied near the cuticle area. Of all the nail salons I've ever visited Ive never had these upcharges for different nail shapes before along with my fill ever costing more than $40-$45 max. Also as a business owner myself, I fully understand the costs involved with running a business, including the materials and the equipment. Given that, I set prices accordingly and find it important to openly and clearly communicate this pricing upfront to my clients. This upfront transparency includes any upcharges for additional services or materials so my clients can make informed decisions before my service is started and not feel how I felt at this salon. Given all this I do not believe I would ever go back.
