My solar stopped working in June, 2025, and they keep saying they will send someone here to fix it (I'm in So. California,) but 7 months later, I'm told in the Q but no one yet. They bill me every month and asked how since it doesn't work and they said they estimate it. I have to pay or they will put me in collections, as others have stated. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I am giving them negative 5 stars. Trying to reach anyone to speak with about your bill is a joke. I called last week to speak with someone about buying my system outright because I'm so tired of dealing with these people and was told I would receive a return call with 72-96 hours! What?? I have never heard of such customer service and to make matters worse, I never did get a return call! When I called again today I did manage to speak with a rep who told me it would cost $36,000 to buy out my contract. Again, what?? The reader stooped working in July, so they are not reporting to my electrical supplier. They took over my lease from Sungevity which filed bankruptcy. They were supposed to take over auto-pay, which automatically deducted the monthly payments from my bank account. All was well until they said I didn't pay them for 2 months. I tried to call, no one answers. Eventually they put me in collections for not paying. I don't understand how I can be behind on payments when they automatically deduct from my bank account? I took a solar loan in 2018 and to date have not received Any information on amount of interest for tax filing. Call to request and was told that do not do that. Excuse me but yes you are supposed to. I always pay over payment and note to be applies to the current principle since day one. Horrible company! Ive been paying my bill onetime through my bank's bill pay for years. Received a call from Sprice's collection department today telling me I had assessed late fees all of 2022. I pulled up my bank statement which shows everything paid ON TIME. This information, even though i have definitive proof from the bank, was just too difficult for the simple minded I spoke with. He insisted that the problem was with my bill pay and I had to pay the late fees. I requested a call back from a manager- That didn't happen. For weeks we've been trying to get desperately needed information from them for the title company. They deserve 0 stars. But, the two customer service reps were extremely nice and helped us. This company has taken over the financial side of my solar. As the other persons review indicated this company is horrible getting any information. I initially received a bill with a past due amount. I have never received a bill showing how much my bill should be. When I attempted to contact, phone and email, I was told my bill had not changed, but there are taxes and fees added. What those taxes and fees were I could never get from them. When I called I would be on hold for at least 30 min. Emails got a response as indicated above. I am doing some financial work, needed them to show my account was paid in full. Seems I have past due balance (fees and taxes) not cleared. Trying to get those amounts was like pulling teeth. My original solar company NRG sold it to Spruce and is when my nightmare begins. 1st, billing was horrible, I had setup with autopay since the notice of the takeover which was Feb of this year, it worked for 1 month then stopped, I got letter in mail about bills overdue and took multiple email/calls and finally got through and setup auto pay again in May, plus clear the payment for whatever it was pass due. check my statement from credit card and see autopayment on 6/02 for the month of June. figure all was ok but got an letter from Energy Service Experts telling me I did not pay for May, here we go again with back and forth and email/calling and 10 days still no answer/call back. 2nd, one of the microinverter stopped working for weeks, been complaint and was told my panels are working 100% and there is no issue. HELLO, IT SHOWS IN THE APP THAT ONE PANEL IS DEAD AND YOU ARE TELLING ME IS WORKING 100%?? I called Enphase which was the equipment provider and had to get a local solar tech to test the unit and confirm with Enphase that microinverter is not working and Enphase will warranty it. Spruce/Energy service experts just ignore my inquiry on this matter and basically telling me again that MY SYSTEM IS WORKING THE WAY IT SHOULD AND THEY DO NOT SEE ANY NEED AND CAN'T DISPATCH TECH FOR REPAIR. Sept 9th 2021 Hello Sara Wells, Angelica Rivas and Sara Trione, I really don't have the "energy" to write this email, however, it looks like I am going to have to go down this rabbit hole. First, I was an American Solar customer for 7+ years, had been on auto pay ever since. I almost forgot the name of the company since it had been so long since I even had to remember anything about my solar... Not once did I have any issues with billing etc... Now, in May 2021 and I want to REFI my home and come to find out that Spruce has taken over our solar billing which started in January 2021. When the loan company was trying contact Spruce for a "lien or hold, " what ever you call it, they could not get a hold of any one. They tried on many days, several times a day and on hold for hours and hours. Once the loan officer finally got a hold of someone at spruce, it was brought to her attention that my account was delinquent. Essentially your company is holding its customers hostage to your timeline and whenever you decide you want to help or not, criminal! Then I started to try and get a hold of Spruce, took me 20 some days and literally on hold for over 13 hours to finally get a hold of a real person to help me. Once I get a hold of someone and explain my situation, she is unable to help me because I am required to get my account out of delinquency first, SERIOUSLY. Now, I have to start the whole process over again and try to navigate through your system to find the right department to get out of delinquency. I am in the service business and I had to be on hold with an ear piece in for 6 hours consecutively, while helping my own customers, and finally was able to just bear the pain, because I had to close my loan. However, You still couldn't process my information in time to close my loan on time, so I had to pay a penalty of $3500... Your tactics of I CANT EVEN EXPRESS HOW FRUSTRATING YOUR PROCESS IS!!! I could write a ten page letter on the whole ordeal, it was like I was in an alternate universe, just crazy. Okay, I had a 30 day lock on my loan, I missed the deadline and had to pay an additional $3,500 for points to extend my loan. Your company cost me $3,500 in unnecessary fees when I DID NOTHING WRONG and you just didn't seem to care. Your company could not respond to my request within a 30 day period which is ridiculous. I traced back the email you sent all American Solar customers in January and it stated that if I was currently on AUTO PAY then there is no further action on my part, okay, seems reasonable. However, You proceeded to take money out of my account in Jan 2021 and for whatever reason did not execute auto pay for Feb and March, then started autopay again on April, May, June 2021. Because your systems failed to auto bill me for Feb and March, unbeknownst to me, you tagged my account as delinquent, which was NOT MY FAULT. How can your system start auto pay, then stop it for two months, then only to start it back up and then blame me for not paying my bill? Because of my unbelievably horrible experience, and for the fact since you are able to treat your brand new American Solar customers however you want because there is NO COMPETITION, I was planning on submitting a complaint to the BBB, however, I just don't have time or energy to do so, probably your business model and you know your customers will just submit... Now today, I get a bill stating that I am behind $312.50, HOW CAN THIS BE???? 1.25.2021 Auto Pay $156,25 FEB - no auto pay MARCH - no auto pay 4.5.2021 - auto pay $156.25 5,4,2921 - auto pay $156.25 6,2,2921 - auto pay $156.25 6.3.2021 $312,50 - AUTO PAY ---------------- 5.28,2021 - paid with credit card to get my account out of delinquency $390.00 I really don't want to deal with billing issues with your company. Where is your company Facebook page? Why have you deleted several posts from your LinkedIn page and have all comments turned off for your newer posts. I'll tell you why, your company is rated as an F with the BBB and for good reason. While you have done what you can to repair your presence online, I've been researching you for months and I am aware of the changes you've made to hide the deplorable services of your company. However you cannot remove everything and several reviews are still available on Yelp and Energysage.com. My solar panels have not been operational for 1 year. I will be contacting a lawyer and my local consumer protection agency. I really hope others will find this review before ever signing a contract with your company. read more

Based on the reviews already written, I am wasting my time even writing this as the company obviously couldn't care less about their customers or their reputation... but this is the worst, most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with in my life. I purchased a home in August 2020 and the close of escrow was almost delayed due the extreme difficulty of even getting someone to pick up the phone to discuss transferring the solar lease. I have now lived here for almost a year and a half and have still not received a single bill or statement. For the past two months I have been getting calls from the "collections" department threatening me with late fees etc. I have explained to them that I have never even received a single bill. Their 'system' has been having issues every time I speak with them and they cannot even tell me verbally what I owe, but continue to tell me I have an outstanding balance that is past due. I live at the service address.. how complicated is it to send a bill in the mail like every other company in the country? I can only hope that they go bankrupt and the owners end up in prison for fraud. They could not manage a lemonade stand on the side of the road. read more

Through www.solarservicehelp.com and have been unable to or have tried reaching their customer service department at 888-636-0336 and STILL cant reach anybody .. you can reach them at. 844-533-5893. Trying to pay your bill with this company for months. Their billing portal has been down. They dont answer their phone . Thhey dont call you back or answer their emails. I had to wait for a paper statement which arrives after the bill is due so they charge me a late fee. This 844 number they do not give out. I finally reached out to the company who installed thd solar panels and they gave me the number. This is by far the worse customer service I have ever dealt with. They make it almost impossible to pay your bill. They need to get their act together. Hope this helps others who have gad the same problem as me. read more

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CHOOSE THIS COMPANY! My solar panels were leased through NRG. We had minimal trouble with them over 5 years, minor issues when trying to get information when we decided to sell our house but we were able to transfer our lease to the new owner and everything was good for a few months. Then I got a letter in the mail stating my solar panel lease had been sold to Spruce Power. I thought it was weird but wasn't concerned until I got the first bill. I could not get through on the phone and no responses came from repeated emailing. I finally got a response when I threatened having my lawyer call and was told to call and chose a different option than I had been choosing and got through. The lady was able to see that I had sent the lease transfer and had emailed the final bill with zero balance and she said it would be taken care of and I wouldn't receive any more bills. Sounded good until today when I got another bill and another letter apologizing for how they haven't been responding and how they added more representatives so the call time would be reduced. Great so I immediately called and was on hold for more than 20 minutes before I gave up. I emailed back the only real email that I had received only to get the stock we got your message and we will get back to you in 7-10 days! But in the mean time I can go and pay my bill online. read more
