Sales pitch was very good. Contract was not a great match to what was in the sales pitch. I should have stopped there. Now I have a system with battery back up and my last power bill was more than before I got solar. Communication is poor. Service comes out but nothing shared about system status and why production is so poor. Be nice to be as valued as a customer as I was when I was a potential customer. Given the history of our Texas Grid, my wife and I decided to look into solar for our home last Fall. After viewing some of our neighbors' installations, I was concerned about the sloppy installations. Exposed conduit running all over their roofs and down their outside walls to the control boxes and batteries. Literally a jungle of conduit. We contacted Freedom Solar and began working with Michelle Nicholson. She is very knowledgeable and answered all our concerns throughout the several visits to our home. The design team worked up the technical needs to power our home and promptly submitted the plan and costs to us. Michelle was prompt returning our calls and answering our questions. She even helped us find a power company that would pay us for our excess production of electricity. Installation was last November (2023) and was very neat and only took one day. No conduit on our roofs and very compact and neat wall installation of the controls. Our experience has been superb with the system running flawlessly. We've been so pleased with the install and performance we are now upgrading to a SPAN panel and a Tesla Power Wall 3. We always had great customer service; but only needed them once when I had questions concerning the software. For this year, our home consumed 11,400 kWh; but we produced 10,700 kWh. We've run our 2500 sq ft home on less than 800 kWh for 8 months. But what is more amazing is that we both drive Tesla cars and charge only at home! Done right, solar is amazing. I did a consultation with Wendy, and she was probably the rudest sales person I've ever worked with. We did an online appointment video call, and whenever I looked at my other screen, she very annoyingly would stop and say "do I have your full attention, we can reschedule". It kind of blew my mind she kept doing it. I can look at my other screen if I like, especially as I was just looking at my electric bills while she was talking about KWH. After multiple times of this, I told her I'm good and I'll go somewhere else for my solar, she then barraged me with texts telling me how rude I was, and that's "not how we do it in Texas (while she was dialing in from Mexico)", and then "blessing me with wisdom and discernment" so I don't "rob myself of great opportunities like I just did", and when "you are ready and have humbled yourself" (exact quotes), she'll still have my profile assigned to her and be there to tell her team about our call. I'm actually kind of blown away by this, I pretty much never leave reviews, but I feel obligated so others don't deal with craziness just trying to get a solar quote. If you get Wendy as a sales person, good luck, you'll have funny and weird texts to talk about on yelp! Make sure you "humble yourself" first before you make your $75K solar purchase so you don't "rob yourself" of opportunities like working with her! Freedom Solar did an excellent job of installing our solar array and hooking into the grid. The SunPower components are of high quality and performing well. We've been online now for three months and couldn't be happier. While my neighbors are complaining about their high energy bills from all this extreme weather, my bill remains $26/mo. One word of warning that has nothing to do with Freedom Solar or SunPower: The roadblocks put up by the local government, HOA, and power company take a LONG time to overcome. Even though it only took a few days to install our panels, it took FIVE MONTHS to get them turned on due to slow moving government and utility requirements. So plan ahead. If you want your panels to come online when it's sunny in May, make sure to start the purchase process in November. read more

Freedom Solar installed twenty five panels on my roof. Eleven weeks later they have never been turned on. I have emailed Freedom Solar thirty three times. Not one response back from this company. I invested $44,000 for non working solar panels I feel so foolish that I can not get any help from Freedom Solar My sales person who signed me up. Quit because he was nev er paid on the nine projects he completed. I call and leave voice mails , no one will help me. Oncor is the company that can complete my project. Freedom must reach out to Oncor to get this project working. Nine people came out to install my panels, The city of Euless and Freedom signed off and said I was good to go, eleven weeks ago. How do I get them to take them off my roof since they are non working. I guess I have to seek out another company who can help me get some working panels. No one from the install group has called me back to follow up. I read the other reviews on Freedom Solar, I must have had a non caring group of people who did not follow up with Oncor to get my panels working. This has not been a lot of fun to deal with. All I do is email this company four times a day. In hopes that someone in Freedom Solar will reach out to me to help in this matter., Please can some one from Freedom Solar in the install department reach out to me to see what can be done on this matter. "Don't let the sun go down on me" those famous lyrics from Sir Elton John were exactly what I was hoping from my new solar system from Freedom Solar Power. Unfortunately, the sun has definitely set and I am wishing I had never utilized them for my service. The problems started nearly from the beginning. My Salesperson John Slavik did a great job of presenting the materials and stats he was provided by his company. His presentation swayed me to utilize FSP when I was still skeptical about going solar. I only wish I had stayed with my skepticism of it. After I signed the contract, it took nearly three months to get the system up and running. Numerous delays in "permits" as I was told, then incompetent installations by FSP electricians, including wiring put in backwards, followed by more issues because things weren't done correctly for the City of Denton to switch over. If that was all that was wrong, I wouldn't be writing this review, but unfortunately that is just the beginning. There was absolutely ZERO training on understanding how the system works. I had a Tesla Power Wall installed and when it wasn't operating correctly, FSP who sold me on the fact they were my only needed point of contact for issues because they manufacturer their equipment. Well, not exactly. The Tesla Power Wall wasn't charging so I called FSP about it. I was then told they didn't have any information on it and I would have to call Tesla and provided me a number. After 45 minutes on hold, I was told the number isn't the right department and was sent to the correct department, where you guessed it, another 45 minutes on hold. Then I was told their system was working correctly, it was FSP who hooked up the wiring wrong. So, after calling FSP back and having to make a threat to climb up on my roof and tear their system off of it, I was told someone was on their way to fix the issue. Several hours later, the problem was solved and again, it was an improper install by their electricians. Again, did the nightmare end ... NOPE. I was told when I signed my contract that my cost for solar would basically be a wash from my electric bill and that I would see savings during the winter months. Well, that wasn't the case. My electric bill is still running $200 after only a $90 reduction due to my solar install. Add in the $100+ cost of the solar per month and I am paying more for solar than I was for City of Denton electricity. So, either they didn't calculate the proper size of my system or something isn't installed correctly because I am definitely not getting the "wash" I was told I would on the cost. At this point I have contacted the State of Texas Regulatory Commission, State Licensing Board, Better Business Bureau and an attorney. My goal will be to go after their business license as well as having their system removed from my property, roof replaced from the damage caused by it, and end the nightmare that I wish I had never started. read more

The system building was very easy and informative and then installation was fairly straight forward, with a few hiccups with supply and weather, but I'll have my system up and running before the summer heat. Update to my previous post: My negative review on 7/7/22 got a response promising someone would be calling soon. As of 7/14/22 no one has called. I received an email on 7/9/22 acknowledging my latest request for help, assigning me case #02833109, and promising a case manager would get in touch. No one has gotten in touch. That's two separate false promises to contact me. Again, the problem is the SunPower app says I am using much less kWh than my electricity provider is billing me for. His plans seemed appropriate for our home, he advised me that his price would be the highest but it was matched by the companies quality in staffing and products. He stayed with me through panel installation and SIX (6) electrical visits. The panel installers were fantastic, prompt, efficient and informative. Excellent clean up after installation. My one suggestion is your electricians need training. The first two did things that four others spent six visits correcting. So far my system is working and I look forward to a successful tenure with it. read more

Hello Everyone, I am very disgusted that sunpower is selling these u series to customers and labeling them as Sunpower made. These are not made by Sunpower or maxeon. Sunpower is buying 3rd rate solar panels from these small companies , then using enphase investors and telling customers that they are buying sunpower technology aka Maxeon. Then they charge you the premium solar panel price. They are lying to everyone. If your quote doesn't say A, X, or M series than you are buying 3rd rate panels that will be worthless after the warranty. Then you will have to buy all new equipment. Sunpower (freedom) is doing the same thing that all the other solar companies are doing, meshing different manufacturers together. But they charge you $15k more for the name. Shop around before you sign the deal. Ask your sells rep for all the spec sheets. Freedom wouldn't even give me the spec sheets for my equipment. I had to call sunpower HQ and talk to engineers. That's how I found out I was getting waaree Indian designed and built panels. Freedom will flat out deny you any information on the U series. Update! You are also charged $7300 fee on your finance. I've been in the solar industry for 4 years, working for a well known, Brand Name, Nationwide Competitor. And after you've done enough research into solar, eventually you come to the conclusion that you want to check out what SunPower has: the highest efficiency panels on the market. It took me 4 years, but I couldn't be more thankful that I did! When I wanted to contact Sunpower here in The Great State of Texas, I was referred to Freedom Solar Power. I met with the local management, and was quite impressed with their product knowledge and I got the real sense that they have their finger on the pulse of this rapidly growing and ever changing industry, they all seem really involved in moving the needle forward toward renewable energy and "grid-independence." But what impressed me more than anything were the BEAUTIFUL photos of their residential installations, substantial commercial contracts and installations, both in DFW and throughout Texas. I wanted to do those! The arrays are aesthetically clean and neat, with No silver conduit running all over the roof, no ugly inverters and conduit on the side of the house, and the All-Black panels are SHARP looking, if not almost gorgeous! I generally do not leave reviews, but my experience with this company is so awful I feel I need to help others stay away. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this company or sunpower. Don't buy into a warranty as they essentially will find excuses not to cover anything. System production low? Well they were just estimates. Trying to get service after installation is pretty much nonexistent. Now the service may vary from state to state but I can guarantee the team in Texas are not trustworthy. Go with other companies and do not pay the premium that freedomsolar and sunpower ask for. The performance is on par with others and the supposedly best warranty in the business is just smoke and mirrors. They'll try and upsell you on the fact that after 25 years it'll still produce 92% , oh sure but there's a lot of factors that can affect this. Cloudy days, crappy weather, shade, all these will affect your numbers so literally the 92% warranty means nothing. Don't worry about the degradation numbers go with efficiency and lower prices. Essentially the competition guarantees 86% while sunpower guarantees 92%. You're paying 30-40% more for that 6% difference. You can easily offset that by buying more panels at the cheaper price and still end up paying less than you would with sunpower. Again, the warranty and service promises are empty promises so it does not justify the price and you will get zero customer service for your trouble as well. read more

Weston lied to get a sale. NOTHING happened on installation unless you prompt them with "what's next" or "when will this be installed". They waited until the day before my first payment was due before I was ever shown the system was actually producing any power. That won't do any good anyway because despite having 20+ panels and an "80% system" (produces enough power to cover 80% of your avg consumption) IT DOESNT WORK WHEN THERE IS A POWER OUTAGE!!! This means you have to have power to produce power, completely negating the reason for solar! This would have been nice to know BEFORE I signed on the dotted line for a $30k system. Oh yeah that's because Weston lied to me. I specifically asked "will it work if my power goes out like in a storm?" "Yep it sure will." Fast forward to the day my first payment is due, guess what, a power outage. Would you like to guess how much power this 80% system is producing? Not one bit. From the regional operations manager, "Weston was misinformed, sorry" And I'm out $30k... Do not buy a system here! It's a total scam! read more

Freedom Solar installed the system on our residence. It was a great experience. The proposal showed the design and estimated savings on power purchases. When they arrived to install the system the team was very professional and careful. They installed it on time and stayed with the project all the way through the inspections with the Arlington city inspectors. They installed a great monitoring system I can watch on my smart phone. Freedom took my phone calls and taught us how to use the monitoring. They also got us in touch with TXU, which is buying our excess power. To sum it up the job was complete and professional. I had a 7-8kW solar panel installation put in by Freedom Solar about two months ago. From that day to this I've seen a significant reduction in my electricity bill that pretty much offsets the cost of the panels. Any energy I produce goes back to the grid where my power company gives me a credit for the unused power. Freedom Solar, and Corbin specifically have been incredible. Everything was installed smoothly. The process was very straight forward and they worked with all parties involved to ensure a seamless experience. I can't recommend them highly enough.
