While that is true to a certain extent, but you'll find that that camper only gets towed somewhere a couple times a year and let's face it, gas is expensive. Then, consider storage fees if you can't keep your camper at your home. So here's the deal. Seasonal sites are sorta where it's at. They are a convenient distance from major Alberta centres. You can buzz down and have a relaxing weekend. You actually use your camper more than once or twice a year, which is a good thing because those things aren't cheap. And it's like a small community. You know your neighbours, they become your friends and your kids have a shangri-la of things to do and summer friends to hang out with. Starting to sound good? That brings us to Green Acres. This place is a members only site, so you can't just mosey on in and expect to join in on the fun. Well, you can, sort of, but you gotta know a member. But it's worth it. Firstly, the place is immaculate. Well manicured and well kept. The people there are so nice. Didn't bring food? That's ok, Lucy's has you covered with a full service restaurant. Need stuff to do? Great! Pick up the newsletter to hear about the camper walk & shop, dances on long weekends or the camper crawl. Or, just head down to Lucy's for a swim in the salt water pool, video games and pool tables. Oh yeah, and the book exchange. Go down to the lake and wade in the water or send the kids to one of three playgrounds. Oh, you'll never be bored! Maybe consider unplugging yourself from social media or Yelp (sorry, Yelp) because the reception in the valley is pretty weak and sometimes non-existent. However, cell service is ok. But who needs that when you are relaxing, right? Yep, love it there hanging with old friends and meeting new. Definitely a must go if a seasonal camping site is your thing.

My wife and I visit this campground most every year and, in the past, they have been wonderful. This year is a very different story. The campground is still very nice but it is not well managed and very disorganized. The people running this place also do not return telephone calls. Our initial contact this year, beside the telephone call that was not returned, was by telephone. My wife spoke with someone who was extremely grumpy and unhelpful. We are only here this trip because we were unable to make other arrangements and this is the closest campground to my wife's parents place. The check-in process was a complete gong show. The lady who was helping us was not at all familiar with the computer and we were initially directed to a stall that was already taken. This was fixed quickly by someone other than the person who originally checked us in. We had paid for 5 days. On morning #2 the managers came around to ask when we were checking out. They seemed surprised when I directed them to the tag in the window of the truck that indicates we paid for 5 days. Lions Campground is quiet though very disorganized. This place is no longer our first choice for campground in Red Deer.

I flew in and out of the Red Deer regional airport for the first time recently and it was overall a…read moregood experience. It was great to be able to fly an " Air Canada " flight straight to there (the Red Deer - Calgary AC flights are operated by Air Georgian). The airport staff were super friendly and helpful. A true testament to the quirkiness of small airports- you have to bring your checked bag through security with you like you normally would for a carry-on bag. I hope that the Air Canada service continues and it prompts an airport renovation. The reason I feel I can't score the airport higher is that it really is so minimal. There's nowhere nearby to get food- just two vending machines. There's barely enough places for people to sit, let alone any services. I sincerely hope that I can keep returning to this airport, and see some capital improvements that help me to rate it higher!

Solid location. The…read morelobby was more extra than I expected from a Super 8. I don't have anything against Super 8s. But I expect sufficiency only. It was a good hotel. The room was clean, the staff was friendly. There was nothing in the room that was noticeably dirty or broken. I'd stay here again. Lots of food shopping within walking distance, i.e. restaurants, connivence stores, and grocery. The hotel has included breakfast with hot foods. I was not really happy with how the boiled eggs were stored, but I just avoided them.

I broke my wrist while I was out during our one night stay and was at the hospital all night till 7:30am, they were very accommodating allowing us to have a check out at noon instead allowing us to get some sleep before we drove for home, as we were passing by the front desk after we grabbed a little bite from the nice breakfast bar, we were informed the front desk lady took initiative to speak with the manager who said to let us check out at 1pm instead. Very helpful and caring place and staff who have no problem laughing with the silly jokes that slip out.

We came to the Holiday Inn and Suits just off of gasoline alley in search of a place to have our wedding hosted. Right from the moment we entered the hotel we were treated with such respect and so friendly by the all the staff. The ballrooms and the rooms for our guests are remarkable and at that moment we new that this is where we wanted our venue to be hosted.  The young lady that we dealt with is amazing and she took everything into consideration. Our budget was super tight and she did everything to ensurer that we would recieve the best service. Also the manager and general manager  took time to meet with us and made themselves available if we would have any concerns though our planning of our "special day".    The Chef also took time for us, always coming to meet with us and a meal was arranged for us a before our wedding to ensure the quality was to our liking. It was beyond something that we have ever experienced. Everything is so fresh and so colorful the taste was tanalizing. When we ordered the salad we just assumed that Chef used bagged salads like everywhere else. That was not the case. Every bit is organic as possible and locally grown. The Chef's food --  it hits a person palate and has your mouth actually watering for the next bit. Since our wedding our family and guests are still talking about the spectacular meal Chef prepared and severed that evening. We have since been invited back to the hotel with a gift card for a meal and again we were treated extra special and our meal again that day was undiscribable. We leaned that these meals in the reastrautnant are available to anyone. We highly recommended anyone that is from Red Deer or passing through or needing a place to sleep or a special event to stop in and enjoy this hidden treasure.
