Mike and Danas is a little hidden gem. A very different dining experience. If you like quirky,…read morehomestyle cooking this is your place. They do not have a website. You can find them on facebook. You must have reservations, it is a "supper club" no walkins. They only take cash or checks and the price is usually $35-40 per person. Best of all its BYOB so go with a group its fun! Our son lives in Bloomington and thats how we found out about their saturday night themed dinners. It's in one side of a warehouse just north of 3 rd street off 37. Mike and Dana are an eccentric couple who are the epitome of hoosier hospitality. They are your hosts, servers and cooks for the evening. They have one seating-6:30 be prepared to stay for 2-3 hours. You must be ontime, as you walk in Dana greats you at the door with a hug and asking if you've been here before. There were maybe 20 people there that night, one empty table. Its nothing fancy inside, everyone talks to each other. Mike talked about the menu for the night, we were having an untraditional italian themed meal. Untraditional for the US but not Italy. We had 7 courses! So much food but they expect you to take some home. The regulars show up with a bag of tuperware (glad we did that!) but they also have to go containers for you. The food was really good-bruchetta with fennel, meatballs (not in red sauce!) salad, soup, chicken saltimbocca with mushroom risotto and fresh vegetables. And a amaretto gelato for dessert. Im forgetting one dish! Mike and Dana are fun, they come and sit and chat and drink with their guests. If you know you're going to be in Bloomington on a saturday night, check out their facebook page for that saturday nights theme. Oh yeah bring lots of wine!
