My family and I went strawberry picking here and it was a great time! They do not use pesticides or herbicides on their crops - which is was what drew us to this farm. We came in early June, it was the end of strawberry season. We picked 5 pints of strawberries. They have other "you-pick" crops - mid June is black raspberry time, for example. The farm is clean, staffed with friendly, helpful people who work hard and wear a smile on their face. They showed us around, explained how they operate. It was a great, relaxing activity for the entire family. I look forward to going back! Important to note: This is a working farm, but there is not anyone who resides at the farm. Wonderful choice of meats and veggies from a small local farm. But don't let this farm fool you. From the street it just looks like a normal home, but once you step foot on the property you notice it has a lot more behind the home. I was lucky enough to enjoy a cook out/tour of the farm. I got to meet the farmers and they're staff. Wonderful group of people. The food was amazing and fresh. Highly recommend!! read more

Distelrath farms is a great place to pick up and enjoy fresh non chemical covered food. They have great juicy chickens that are looked after the right way :) You right now can get pork ( Chops, bacon, ribs oh hell any part of the pig you want) Eggs that are super fresh and very tasty. UPDATE: 7/2017 Due to 450+ comments (from old teachers, old director, board member, and parents) left on "crunchy Indy-a resource" & "Indianapolis hs moms" & "Indy schools-Montessori, coop, homeschool,etc" about this, children's protective services was called, bbb notified, state license board, & media notified....Andrew distelrath decided to take a leave of absence for a bit. Claims of "palming 2/3yr olds face in anger, verbal abuse &intimidation, screaming in face, placing child in bathroom for punishment etc **google distelrath farm for more honest reviews of people who actually worked here and quit bc of andrew and aggression. To note: Teachers are not real teachers. No license to have daycare or school there. None of the teachers (Angela,greg, Beth, & andreww(?) have teaching license or background in teaching. . Andrew majored in psychology. Also runs the same "school" house as a bed & breakfast (find on airbnb website) so strangers are around the kids Sent my 6 yr old here for part time school. Pulled him out about a month & a half later. $459. No refund issued. After two times of my son saying "mum mr. D was aggressive with us in class " I took heed. (there have been other parents who have come forward issues but not comfortable posting) We homeschool.He was pumped to "learn how to be a farmer" but I noticed his behavior changed as the weeks went on & I started to question. The younger kids call the owner/teacher (Andrew distelrath)...MR. D. About two weeks in to starting my son in this farming school (sent him 2 days a week for 4 hrs a day. Sounds benign right?!) there was the first incident. To note: I stayed the first two classes with him but was then told by Andrew distelrath that He discouraged parents from being there bc he was not able to earn their trust and help them grow (first red flag) Came to pick son up after leaving him there alone to "learn". . "Mum mr d was aggressive with us today" my son described being with the younger class of 3-6 yr olds for the day. One boy made joke about poop&my son chimed in as well as the other 2-3 toddlers as they ate lunch. distelrath was keeping a close eye bc the lady teacher had left for lunch. He heard the jokes &became irate. He rushed in, pointing his finger at Children,leaned down screaming in their faces that someone would be kicked out of school. distelrath then decided to send the same long blonde curly haired boy (5?) to the bathroom for punishment &threatened to kick others out. I spoke to distelrath afyer first incident. He stated was an isolated incident & "he was used to disciplining older kids&has a tendency to come off too harsh with words" stated it wouldn't happen again. Said boy was a problem child that didn't listen well so he needed "extra attention" Weeks later there would be another "aggressive mr d" incident where he got angry that the older group of kids were splashing water playfully. He decided calling them stupid morons repeatedly, screaming at top of his voice for a 5 min rant &finger pointing in faces was his constructive way to handle the situation of children age 6-high school. "Who's going to be kicked out?!?! U morons should try to keep the others from acting like stupid morons!! So all of u will figure out who's leaving this program. I have another teacher watching that I don't lose my temper enough to lose my school over this!!!" I instantly pulled my child &spoke with Andrew. He admitted that he "kinda lost it for 5 min where a severely loud vice was used" but assured me that even though my son wasn't part of the incident (it was the older kids), he admitted to "keeping a close eye on him bc I remembered u said he didn't do well with raised voices &He did just fine" My son admitted he cried in a corner afterwards &desperately hunted for a phone to call me to get him. Fast forward another week to find that Andrew distelrath advertises on his site that they teach positive discipline classes. I didn't realize stupid moron was synonymous with positive discipline. The absurdity of it all. It makes sense why he doesn't teach at an accredited school. It would be closed down &he would be fired. These children are being molded and taught by someone who's way too volatile to be considered a role model to young impressionable children. I cringe to think what might happen with a true situation other than poop jokes shared amongst toddlers or splashing water with 6-14 yr old kids. Hearsay that there are child(ren) in his full day class being witness to this verbal abuse after they had been to adopted from an abusive situation (met the family few days earlier who said in passing).....that makes my heart hurt if true. Great local non pesticide food. The animals are treated excellent, they sell produce & meat. Pigs, goats , rabbits, ducks, cows, a little something for everybody. Really good eggs! Always open on the weekends, sometimes during the week, best call or text ahead. Great people doing good work! read more

Wow, such a cool farm. Very family friendly! Took my children, age 10 and 12, and they had a blast You can feed and pet the goats and pick/purchase your product...no buying greens that are covered with flies and over a day old. read more
