This is a recruitment agency for teachers and administrators at private schools. It's the main…read morecompetitor organization of Carney Sandoe, which is bigger and has a wider reach. Back when I first worked with Educator's Ally in 2015, I thought the organization was better than Carney because the service was more personal and I didn't feel like I was being referred indiscriminately to every job in my chosen area of the country. However, the organization has changed drastically in the past 10 years. I assume that much of this shift has been the result of their expansion, but I can't say for sure. That said, the service is no longer personal; it's nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone. I am a history teacher, and the person in charge of working with history teachers is una stronza named Margaret Cissel. She is bad at her job. I echo what Jaye S. has to say about them, and Margaret Cissel and the president, Lisa Lovering, in particular. They think that if you've taken some time off from teaching high school for any reason that you are no longer a good candidate for a teaching position. This is, at the very least, short-sighted bullsh*t. Jaye took time off to teach at a university --that experience will help inform better teaching practice because you acquire a strong sense of the skills that college students are lacking. Total nonsense. I took time off from teaching for a similar reason--to work at a university, and then to work fighting literal Nazis and online conspiracy theories. Despite my previous 4 years of high school teaching experience, and PhD in History, they decided I am not a good candidate. Why? I'm guessing it's because they feel that my identity (white, cis, hetero, female) isn't appealing to schools that are obsessed with DEI issues. Again I call bullsh*t: I wrote my dissertation on sexual assault, worked at two different public universities with student bodies massively more diverse than any $60K/year private high school, and I can teach subjects ranging from History of Latin America to Modern European History to AP United States History to the History of Gender Europe to African American History. F*ck 'em -- if you're looking to get a job teaching at a private school, go with Carney Sandoe. You'll be much happier, especially because they have job fairs all over the country where you can interview with a variety of schools in one day.

This company did not want to represent me. I have two BAs, a…read moreMFA, and a Ph.D. I have taught high school for two years and college for 5 years. I was offered a position at an A-rated prestigous private school near my house. Soon after I was offered a position at a tier 1 university. I took the Visiting Assistant Professor position. I wonder what about me they found unqualified? Perhaps that I am an educator with a disability?
