I switched to Fern Hill Veterinary Care for my dog, following having taken multiple cats & dogs to…read moreanother "chain" vet clinic for decades who shares it's name with a certain freeway in the Portland, OR area. The reasons were two-fold: 1) Said "chain" clinic, was virtually impossible to get appointments scheduled at. 2) Said "chain" clinic not only charged a lot more $$$ for everything, but constantly and consistently trying to up-sell. Fern Hill was a breath of fresh air! Less-expensive (although not the cheapest option I had explored), they offered a level of professionalism that I hadn't witnessed at the other veterinary clinic in 10+ years, never tried "upselling" me on unnecessary services, especially when it came time to discuss end of life for my dog, and upon hearing about my dog's crossing the rainbow bridge, made a donation to Fences for Fido in honor of my dog. (While said other place offered condolences upon having numerous pets having passed, just the obligatory verbal condolences -- of which nothing wrong with that, but I thought this was really touching by Fern Hill).

If they changed her personality forever, I am going to be extremely upset. Mostly because there is NOTHING we can do about it. We had a cat once who was given a piece of a food from a kitchen table, and he was never the same ever again. The vet kept calling her "food motivated" but the thing is, she never was before this moment. I felt like I didn't have the power to say anything because she was the "expert." I will never make this mistake again with my baby. Please Ms. Vet, GET CONSENT before you give someone else's animal treats like this. You DID NOT ask for our permission, and we felt trapped and silenced by your nervous energy and non stop talking. Even if you are the expert, that doesn't give you the right to override how other people choose to raise their pet, or assume they want your opinion. We came for medical care, plain and simple.

I asked why X-ray since I didn't think plastic would show up on image to which vet responded that they'll be clues on image as to what's going on. $700 later they now want to do an ultrasound for $800 which would tell them what the X-ray has plus more. I asked why didn't you suggest ultrasound prior to X-ray since it'll tell you what X-ray has plus more? Answer: it's our protocol. Moral of the story: it's this hospital's protocol to milk pet owners for everything they've got rather than working the problem with your pet. Thanks but no thanks. I'll never come here again and will dissuade any friends and acquaintances I've from coming here. I should have looked up the yelp reviews before coming. Big mistake on my part.

I had for a wait long time to pay my bill because the monster front desk person is carrying on with her friend on the phone. My poor dog was barely able to hold his head up due the sickness. As I am taking to my car because he is having a difficult time holding his head up she runs after me threatening me. Then to keep the toxicity of the place the vet did not even really give me a complete exam as I found out from a different vet I had to go to.

I am blown away by how compassionate the team at East Hills is. Earlier this month, we had to say…read moregoodbye to my childhood dog. Tears were flowing BIG time but the vet was kind and comforting. A family friend, Shannon, happens to work here as well and having her there made all the difference. She spoiled our dog with yummy snacks and loved on her along with the rest of us as we said our goodbyes. You can truly tell how much the employees here love animals. Although I wish this appointment never had to happen, it went as well as it possibly could have. Once all was said and done, we never felt rushed out of the room. We sat and shared stories, gave our girl love, and cried some more. Shannon was very generous and gave us each a little bag filled with fur. One of the more unsettling parts of losing a pet is leaving them behind for the final time, but everyone assured us that even though she had passed, our dog would not be left in the room alone. They took great care of her and us. I never want this day to come with our other pets, but when it does, I feel good knowing the team here will handle it with just as much love and care.

My pets have been patients of Dr. McNabb for 6 years. He is a competent (or so I thought) vet. The…read moreother vet there is not competent at all. Dr. McNabb has changed however. I believe it is because he is getting ready to retire so he has stopped truly caring about the pets he is treating. I contacted the clinic yesterday and was told in order to talk to the Dr. I had to have a phone appt. It was $85, I talked to the vet for 5 minutes. He prescribed 4 anti anxiety pills for my dog that is injured, has not eaten or drank anything for 5 days and can't walk. I can't get a leash on him as he is partially feral. Vet said one pill will knock him out. No, over 7 hours I gave him all 4 pills because he was having no response to the drugs. When I called later to talk to the vet and maybe have him prescribe something stronger, he wouldn't call me and just had the receptionist call me. She said "he will not give you any more medications and to call Animal Control". What? No, Animal Control is not responsible for picking up owners dogs. Never has been and never will be. I am not sure why the vet did not know this since he is/was a vet. May I say 'duh'? When I told the inexperienced and horribly rude person on the phone I would not be back, she hung up on me. I did not cuss and did not yell so why? I have given this vet at least $2000 this year alone and that was just for 2 teeth cleanings on tiny dogs. If you go to this clinic, this situation is going to happen to you and your pet/pets eventually. There are at least 3 other vets in the immediate area. I won't be going back there. Ever.
