This is a great place to know about if you are in pain ... they sincerely try to help you out here…read more The caveat is: you have to be "referred" by your own physician because ... in the eyes of the government and health insurance companies ... you are not competent to make sound decisions about your own health. I had an experience with Physicians Pain Specialists in 2004 due to a herniated disk in my lower back and now I have returned here in early 2014 with same issue. The doctor I was assigned to in the past has moved on (probably retired) and this time I was assigned to Dr. Josphine Clingan. I suspect that the doctors here rely on their nursing staff quite heavily. Thus I found all of the staff I came in contact with to be very professional and personable. Dr. Clingan was equally personable with a great attitude to try to help you. One of the best things about PPS is that if you leave a phone message they get back to you before the day is out. That is not expected in these type of businesses and quite appreciated. The practice is on the grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital professional building and that is an extremely busy area. Traffic is always congested and the (paid) parking garage is frequently crowded. There seems to be some kind of valet parking available if you seek it out. The only problems I found with PPS are not their fault. Rather it has to due with "laws" passed since I was a patient here in 2004. Overeager politicians "committed" to stopping the use of drugs for pain (the horror of it all!) have passed laws severely restricting dispensing of such pills. God forbid you people stay out of our lives and give yourselves a good look before worrying about us unwashed masses.

ATL Pain Institute - Dr.Luke delivering SoftWave treatment

To Whom It May Concern,…read more I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment I received during my recent visit to ATL Pain Institute - Atlanta. Two weeks ago, I visited your clinic after seeing a commercial on social media. During my initial appointment, I met with Dr. Luke, who was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. He took the time to explain everything clearly and helped me feel confident in the care I was going to receive. Based on that positive experience, I scheduled a follow-up appointment, expecting to see Dr. Luke again. However, when I arrived for my second visit, I was surprised to find that Dr. Luke was not there. What made this more frustrating was that no one informed me in advance of his absence. A simple phone call or message would have been appreciated and respectful of my time and condition. What followed during my visit was even more concerning. While waiting, I observed two staff members--Ana (medical assistant) and Iria--standing together and laughing while speaking in Spanish. As someone who does not understand the language, their behavior made me feel extremely uncomfortable and disrespected. It seemed inappropriate and unprofessional, especially in a medical setting where patients are in pain and deserve compassion and privacy. Ana's behavior, in particular, was unacceptable. She showed no empathy and treated me with a complete lack of professionalism. When I tried to express my concerns or ask questions, she responded with sarcasm, rolled her eyes, and made dismissive facial expressions. Her demeanor was cold and uncaring, and it felt as though she had no training in patient care or bedside manner. As a patient in pain, I expected kindness and understanding--not to be mocked or ignored. Rather than listening and offering support, Ana argued with me and accused me of being 15 minutes late--even though I had called ahead to let the clinic know I would be running behind. Instead of showing understanding or offering to help resolve the situation, she chose to fight with me and make me feel even worse. That is not acceptable behavior for someone working in the medical field. Moreover, I was asked by Iria to make a payment in advance before seeing the doctor, something I noticed was not asked of other patients. This made me feel unfairly singled out and targeted. To make matters worse, both Ana and Iria left the front desk to go on lunch without saying anything. I was left waiting with no one to assist me, and when I tried to find someone to talk to, Ana continued her rude attitude instead of offering help or support. Ana's lack of professionalism, poor attitude, and complete disregard for patient care have left me feeling deeply hurt and disrespected. Laughing and rolling eyes at a patient who is clearly in pain is never acceptable under any circumstance. Her behavior was not only unprofessional--it was damaging and discouraging. I hope this complaint is taken seriously. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. I ask that this matter be addressed appropriately and that steps be taken to ensure a higher standard of professionalism and patient care in the future.

As for the fitness side of the business, I have taken barre and yoga classes here and enjoyed both and would highly recommend them. The instructors are knowledgeable and teach at other studios in Atlanta. I can tell they have had extensive training and I get a lot from each class. My friends and I did one of their happy hour sessions as well and had a ton of fun. We all practice yoga and go to barre classes regularly, and we all enjoyed it. You take two of their fitness classes and then go down the street for cocktails / dinner. It's a great way to connect! I believe they have it on the calendar on their website. As for general wellness, I recently got a massage with their incredible massage therapist, Diana Coker. One session with her and I am a client for life. I have been recommending her to everyone I know because I feel like in a single session I got more from a massage with her than any of the massages I have had at Exhale, etc, where I paid much, much, much more. She has a brilliant understanding of anatomy, and she truly tailors your massage to what you / your muscles need. I told her about my sinus issues, and after she worked on my face I felt better than I have in a long, long time. The pressure was gone - and I could sigh with relief. I was so relaxed and joyous when I left, I made sessions for the remainder of the month and plan on making my appointments with here a regular thing. I love how warm and kind everyone who works here is. I can't wait to try out a chiropractic session with Dr. Croft. All in all, if you're in metro Atlanta, it's worth the short drive. It isn't far at all, and you'll leave with a smiling face and positive experience.

I still work in the industry, in a different capacity, but I have patients everyday that need prior authorizations. The staff here sent my MRIs to one of their preferred imaging facilities. I scheduled three weeks ahead. Imaging facility had 3 MRIs denied for not meeting medical necessity. Laughable since I need several surgeries and also can't use my left hand and am in excruciating pain from c-spine injuries, hand/wrist injuries, and a knee injury (painful to walk, drive, even at rest). When I call the office no one helps really. When I call the imaging facility, no one helps. I called my insurance, but I do not have time to work on this on my own. I'm paying for this to be done. Barbour Orthopedics states the denials and/or communication from imaging must be lost in "faxes". Absolutely freaking laughable. I know every inch of how a medial office runs. Someone needs to act now, or I'll leave this or practice asap. Call my induce and get the denial notifications if you don't have them! Also, when I found out about the denials, plus one order never received by the imaging facility, someone should have acted then. I was told my orders were sent to another imaging facility when I notified Barbour Ortho of the denials and non/received order. They were not sent. Never received! Plus a peer to peer review or appeal needs to be done for the denials. I mean, do I need to come do your job? I will and better than any of their employees. I scheduled the MRIs three weeks in advance. Imaging facility submitted prior auths m one week before my spot. Absolutely laughable! I called the day before my appointment to confirm and they didn't even tell me about the denials, which were several days prior. I did my diligence. If I didn't know the "medical world" as I do, I would have most likely gone for the MRIs. I would have paid an amount they quoted me, which my insurance covers all imaging at 100%. I have zero out of pocket costs. I would have had to fight to be reimbursed and the imaging facility would have had to attempt a "retro authorization". Not a guarantee of coverage/payment. Be aware of imaging not done at Barbour. Seems like a scam to me at AHI. Barbour ortho needs to hire staff to complete imaging auths on their own. Facilities that pts are referred to, are slow and sorry, but they suck. I'm very upset, severely in pain, and really happy I took a day off work for no reason. Management @ Barbour, please call me. This needs to be discussed. Excuse any typos. I cannot use my left hand to type properly. I continue to suffer daily. Severely! I do not recommend this clinic.

I received a call from Edward Oakley ( Vice President ) while I was sitting the reception area. I was quite upset and Mr Oakley disarmed me immediately by telling me that he cared about me and about my care. Then there was a FaceTime with Dr Barbour who was actually at their other location that day. I was blown away that both men took the time to reach out to me personally to reassure me and to bestow confidence. It worked and they took the anxiety I was feeling away. Surgery day was uneventful and I felt safe the entire time. With Covid-19, there was some apprehension. It's been 6 weeks now and my knee is so much better than it was. I want to send out a big THANK YOU to all members of the Barbour Orthopaedics team for taking such great care of me. The Anesthesiologist was very warm and quite funny. Because of the sedation meds, I cant recall his name. I do remember his face was the last one I remember seeing before I went to sleep.
