Short Story: A nice and small hotel in Fremont! Long Story: I stayed here for 2 days as there was work being done at my house. The staff is friendly and helpful. In addition, the rooms are sizeable and clean. I did not notice any ants (I read other reviews which had mentioned this). They have a free hot breakfast everyday from 6am to 9am. The lobby is also nice and there's space for you to work and eat as needed. We got the double queen room and it also has a small office area. Verdict: I would recommend this hotel to others. read more

Great stay! They were busy due to the Speech and Debate State Championship but the staff handled it like the pros they are with fast, helpful and efficient check in and were available for all questions and extras needed. Rooms are quite roomy and priced really well. Breakfast was nice too. Their staff went above and beyond when we had a vegan question regarding their waffle mix (and yes it was vegan!). It was a very welcoming vibe for cosmetic reasons + the talented staff. They consistently demonstrated exceptional personalities and positive attitudes which enhanced the stay. Most notably, the night staff receptionist. She was always upbeat and friendly during the early AM. Laundry Facilities (2nd floor) are available, although the system has a few kinks. - Payment display shows $3.00 but actual cost is $2.50 - Hotel lacks cash-back services or quarter-dispensing options - No tap-to-pay functionality available MVP employees: Night Staff ROOM [Suite] -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7rr5XkTIAE Housekeeping services are available every 3 days & it shows... The rooms were so dusty (& no functional windows). Lighting is also poor w/this design (in common space + fridge area). Otherwise it made for a great extended stay thanks to the impressive walk-in closet dimensions + tabletops. The workspace was productive thanks to the comfortable chair & usb-friendly ports. BED [Queen; King; Trundle] -- good The traditional King & Queen beds provided amazing sleep. Pillows were premium & the mattress offered great support + comfort. The trundle bed however, was clunky to open/close. It felt uncomfortable to use due the dust & carpet hygiene. BATH -- great This design took some getting used to; the long narrow rectangular layout is clever & quirky, yet it works. Everything was clean & functional with satisfactory installations. Water pressure was strong throughout, towels were in great shape, & the shower experience was splendid. North 39 Degree bath products also provided. TV SOLUTION/ACTIVITIES -- ok 5ft pool, Gym, & patio fire pits for socializing & staying active . Gym facilities were exceptionally clean & never crowded. Tons of great equipment too. The TV solution (42" LG HDTV) felt rather mediocre for an extended-stay archetype. The positioning was very awkward, esp in a Double; not optimal for watching from bed or the couch. Volume levels were a struggle & the programming was quite minimal. The Usual Bonvoy Netflix & Youtube apps were included. WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- good The usual Marriott unencrypted WiFi portal access points w/average speeds. Cell reception was inconsistent through various parts of the property; Frustrating when roaming halls/floors. A small Business Center was also available on 1st floor (seats 1!). --Performance-- Video streaming - good Online gaming - good Video chatting - good --Nerd Stats-- 13-15 Mbps download 13-22 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 8 ms latency 29 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK -- ok Quantity over quality... The breakfast buffet was reasonable enough, but lacking in flavor & variety. If you LOVE eggs, on eggs, day after day, in 3 forms at a time -- you're in luck. The other proteins (i.e. bacon) were rare to see & often overcooked. The entire experience was hit or miss, but arrive early when possible bc portions are small & the "good" stuff is scarce. DoorDash friendly + snack markets & multiple hydration stations could be found on the property. The market is rather expensive in this one (2 drinks @ $13). in-room: microwave (mini) mini-fridge (small) coffee/tea wet-bar mini-bar NOISE -- ok The biggest shortcoming here was noisiness. Having stayed at the adjacent StayBridge Suites previously, I immediately missed their soundproofing & quiet atmosphere. Acoustics simply weren't great, between rooms or between doors. During turnover the housekeeping staff were also loud, making it hard to sleep in. LOCATION -- great The location couldn't be more strategic & scenic. It's the epitome of convenient with positioning conducive to breathtaking sunrises . Outdoor spaces offered patios with comfortable seating and fire pits; directly in view of a mall & Costco across the street. Parking on-site was actively patrolled & included Tesla charging stations. Everything you'll need is within walking distance but the hotel also provides a curated shortlists of local resources. RECOMMENDATION Final Price: $151.31/night Was it worth it? Yes Best part: Hospitality Noisier than anticipated but still a very competitive, clean, & enjoyable property. Located across from a shopping center that offers a mall, Costco, AMC and other businesses. Parking is free and located right in front of the hotel. Overall the room was spacious and had a fridge, microwave and big closet. Other amenities included 24/7 fitness center, heated outdoor pool, and free breakfast. The service from staff was friendly. Overall a good stay. Cons: -Typically hotels have a lobby coffee station but unfortunately they only served coffee during breakfast and would then put it away. -conditioner and body wash were empty had to ask the front office for refill. -shower was dirty in certain corner areas read more

This hotel is across Costco and Newpark mall which I find very convenient. The hotel is definitely not in a centralize location but it is nice that you have nearby restaurants. Checking-in was smooth, you get a room key and a key card to turn on the lights. I really liked the room we got. It was very clean and well laid out. They pretty much made sure that they utilize every space in the room. Everything within our room and sitting area was clean. Bathroom needs to be worked on. The shower guard needs to replace, the water keeps on sipping through the glass door. Also the lock in the bathroom door was broken. They do have plenty of signs saying not to leave belongings in your car so I'm assuming cars gets broken into alot in this area so make sure you don't leave anything of value in your car. I recently stayed here when I had to be in work for the week. It was really close to my office which is why I chose it. The guy who checked me in was friendly. They had a little market right by the front desk with snacks and drinks. There was a group of business guys grabbing beers and grabbing a table in the lobby area to chat so I grabbed a beer to take to my room. The room was spacious and nice and there was a coffee maker which I always appreciate. The bed was comfy. The complimentary breakfast was nice but I must have come at a bad time because it was packed with what appeared to be a high school girls sports team of some kind which overtook the small area for dining and the waffle machine. It wasn't easy to grab a quick breakfast when so crowded. I did appreciate the salsa for the eggs though! Overall nice hotel for the location and price read more

I am grateful to the owner of this hotel for teaching me how to be an obedient and sensible customer who will not cause any trouble to the property. While I still had seven or eight personal belongings in my room, their housekeeper removed them from the room at 9 a.m. and placed them separately. To be a good customer to this hotel, when I leave the room, I have to leave something valuable or large enough for them to think I don't check out. In fact, I didn't check out in any way. So their judgment was the criterion for everything, and they didn't care if I got all my stuff back, because when they handed me back the first bag, I took it and walked out, and later found out there should be more. They didn't care how shocked I was when I returned to my room because I thought my room had been broken into (see the photos attached). They didn't care that I had a lot of arrangements for a holiday and delayed me for 40 minutes waiting for them to return my personal belongings they removed from the room. - it took them four times to get all my stuff back. Thank to my good memory or maybe I still forgot something?? Then I'll lose them forever. All because they assumed the guest of a room that still had six or seven belongings checked out. Cleaned out my belongings and kept them in several bags/places (why not put them in one bag?) without a single notice to me. They used their best judgment to force me to check out and even taught me to hang up the "do not disturb" sign so it wouldn't happen again and not feel sorry for what they did. What a gaslighting theory! Okay, for the first time in my life, I learned how to be a satisfying customer to the owner at this hotel.. I will remember the lesson they taught me and never come back. read more

I put my parents up here for Mother's Day weekend. It was a great experience. First. The staff at the front desk were friendly and courteous. The establishment was clean and bright. The room spacious. Love the walk in closet. The couch is not a pullout sofa. No bar in the back. Remove the back cushions and it's a twin sized bed. Tip: use one of the back cushions as a headboard. Then there is a trundle bed underneath you can pull out. It's a twin. There's a desk between the two queen beds and the sofa area. It has a sliding glass window to create separation. The bathroom was modern and clean. It was also spacious. To me every hotel needs more towel bars and places just to put things. But this one was fine. There was a walk in closet. Yup. Walk in. By the sofa area was a concealed fridge and microwave. It was under the wet bar. But what was best about this place. First. The hot breakfast. It was fresh and changed daily. The frittatas were yum!! And the scrambled eggs were so good. Second. The service. Shout out to Rosalina. She was friendly and professional. She even went the extra mile and asked if we needed our table cleaned off. At this point we were just sitting there chilling anyway. She is awesome. She has a warm smile and tbh deserves to be on the Springhill Suite commercial. There is ample parking and hey. It's right next to a Costco. Super convenient. It's also close to the 880 freeway. read more

Thank goodness for a newer Marriott property. The front desk was nice but not really that helpful. I was given a room on the first floor and discovered one ant in the bathroom. Then by the evening, this ant told his homies where to go. I did not have any food in this room but these guys showed up in the bathroom. I didn't think it was bad so I wiped them up and sent them on a toilet ride. Unfortunately the ant invite was still open as more showed up along with a spider in my shower. It was already late so I just decided to sleep. That didn't go well, felt two ants in the night. I called the front desk in the morning and requested a room change. They apologized and said they currently don't have any availability. But they would as soon as guests check out. They said they would call once one opened. I called data 2p & was told that they were waiting for me. There was a miscommunication. I got another room. No ants. But the spider in my first room must have texted his homie and told him what room I went to. Yup, another spider in my shower. The room otherwise is clean and had the usual Marriott touches. Same Marriott free breakfast. Same Marriott shampoo. No frills but the value was there. I will say, do not get a room next to the first floor exit. Room 116 is subject to the loud and disturbingly strong door shutting. It will wake you up and shake your wall. I'd still stay here but now I know not to stay on the first floor. read more

Stayed here for two nights because I was in town for a knee replacement. Hubby checked out this morning to find that the catalytic converter had been stolen. Delightful. Called the front desk, asking to speak with the manager. I know they are not responsible,but figured they would at least want to know, and let their security team be aware. And maybe say something like "that's unfortunate, we are so sorry.I will let my management know." You know, basic human decency. Nope. All I got was "there's signs up, no cameras at night,we're not responsible." Repeatedly. While I can understand not leaving valuables in my car (duh), they could just not give a damn, as long as I knew they were not responsible. Three stars for the frittata on Monday! The place is going downhill tho it's easy to see they are cutting corners and it shows. Very Dirty carpets, running toilets, bird poop on windows, fumbling around the room in the DARK to turn the lights on with room key card????? , air conditioner is hard to manage hot cold loud etc.... Usb and on only one side of bed? And 1 days worth of towels for a 2 day stay . No liners in trash cans? I wish I had read the reviews before booking this hotel. I stayed for three nights. The first night was fine. On morning two I noticed two ants on my face in the mirror, and shrugged it off. That evening there were tons of ants in the bed. I switched rooms. I also noticed an ant on the bathroom counter of the second room. They wound up comping one of the three nights, which I appreciate, but not enough to change my rating. Fix your ant problem. The room was only a suite in the sense that it was decently sized and had a sofa and desk, but no microwave or fridge that I saw. The bed was not comfortable at all, and I think maybe broken. The bathroom floor was STICKY, and made my shoes make sticky noises everywhere I went. I did not get power to the room unless my room key was in a slot by the door. Housekeeping came zero times in three nights and the body wash bottle was empty the whole stay. No gym, no bar, only a tiny little pool. Breakfast was passable but the selection was limited. There was a small mini shop next to the front desk with basic snacks, drinks, beer, and OTC medicine. The staff was kind, they always greeted me, and were willing to try to make the ant situation right. Though the first solution proposed was that they spray bug spray and I subsequently sleep in a bed full of dead ants while breathing in bug spray. Do not recommend. This place is a blemish on the Marriott brand. I hope they shut down. read more

This is my very first time to get a room at this property. I wanted to pay in advance since I wanted to surprise my daughter in law to be for an early birthday before her vacation. Three days before the actual stay the front desk and manager was very welcoming. The actual day of the lady Elsa at the front was extremely professional I thought she was the manager and shared about the hotels facilities recreation, breakfast and even places that would benefit the guests. Nice looking hotel but customer service lacks. First night when we checked in we had to shower. Unfortunately the shower door had an opening and when we showered the water got out and made a big puddle. My clothes got soaking went since they were on the ground. Had to point the shower head at an angle so that water wouldn't splash and that helped the leaking. Following day we left for the whole day and came back very late. When we got back there was a whole trail of ants on the desk. I didn't bother calling the front because it was 3am and I wanted sleep. Woke up the next morning and tried to use the hotel phone but there is no number on there for the front desk or a button to dial the front desk. Had to call them from my cell phone. I asked for towels as well and let them know about the ants. Dude on the phone said he would send towels and someone to take care of the ants. 20 mins passed and no one had even came up with the towels we asked for. Had to go and find someone from housekeeping to ask for towels. A whole hour passed and no one had came up. I had to go to the front and let them know I had called an hour ago. Dude said they would send someone, we left so they could take care of it. Came back and while they did clean, there was still dead ones on the table. Overall not a great experience. Also the snack shop they have up front is extremely crazy expensive. My glucose drops and I forgot to grab snacks in case i had a low and unfortunately I had one. I went down to grab 3 snacks. 2 candies and a juice. Came up to $18. What would've been $5-$6 at 7/11. Had I not been feeling well I would drove because that's robbery. Not even the movies. Breakfast also sucked. Turkey sausage they had on Saturday morning was cold and so were the eggs. AC was also extremely loud, it was cold at night so we didn't turn it on but it randomly turned on one night. Bed was extremely squeaky too especially when you got on it. I could hear the kids upstairs talking and walking. I've stayed at the Hyatt behind this property and it was so much better. Would not recommend. read more

The operations manager Maurice and general manager Jenny are incompetent managers who are always in hiding when confronted with legitimate guest concerns. Maurice: operations manager who isn't competent enough to be an associate receptionist much less any kind of a manager. Gets mad at guests for kindly asking him to do his job. Jenny: So called GM who doesn't have an active email address (all emails sent to the email on her business card fail) and doesn't answer guest requests. read more

The hotel is nice, clean and modern. The guy who checked us in was amazing. He was super helpful and accommodating. There were a few things that made me give a 3 star rating. There wasn't any bar hand soap in either of our rooms. Even after a room was cleaned, there still wasnt little bars of soap left. We had to keep calling to ask for some. We had a handicapped room. The shower seat, above the tub, is incredibly low. It's very hard to get down and back up. The handle to turn the shower wand on was missing. I didn't realize this until I was was already in the shower, so I just got out. I couldn't stand to shower. As it was, the shower chair is at the very end of the tub, making it nearly impossible to reach the controls. Also, the hand rail near the toilet wasn't on the wall firmly. I didn't use it, even though I needed it, because I was afraid it wouldn't hold. Next, the breakfast area needs improvement. They are a pretty busy hotel, but they only have 1 waffle maker. Our family couldn't eat together because we were all in line for the waffle maker. There wasn't any orange or cranberry juice, only apple, both days. No one liked the taste of the hot food. Eggs and sausage both days. I think, bare minimum, they need to add at least one more waffle maker, and maybe add some pastries. The service was great, and the area was clean and stocked. We still enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the friendly staff. I would go back if I didn't need the handicap bath area. read more

I've stayed at a few different Marriott Properties. This one was by far the worst. Started with check in. Needed a luggage cart to get my luggage up to the 3rd floor. Asked the front desk for help. Both assistants really weren't helpful. They both said oh no worries just have a look around. No carts anywhere. So I ask, I'll wait until one comes back. Neither of them cared to look or try anyone. Go back and say without a cart, it will take me 6 trips up and down the elevator. Still no care or a cart! Finally get up and down 6 times and get my things in the room. I was greeted in the morning with a broken coffee machine that didn't work. Also, housekeeping and cleaners decided not to check shampoo, conditioner, soaps, etc. Asked for a new coffee machine so I could have coffee before work. Front desk says sorry I'll submit a request for that but no housekeeping here at this time. Came back 12 hours later after work. Still no functioning coffee machine or soaps/shampoo etc from housekeeping. Follow up with corporate number to get screamed at and attitude from her. Many people from corporate call center to this specific location offered the lowest and most disrespectful customer service I've ever experienced from a Marriott property. read more

This hotel was convenient for a transit stay to the airport but false advertised a sofa bed when it was actually day bed--big difference. Their general manager Jenny River doesn't return calls to address various issues, keeps her voicemail full (most likely complaints) and blocks all emails sent to her. We like Marriott but won't be staying at their SpringHill Suites again. Next time staying at the Hyatt Place nearby. read more

Let's just say, I travel for work, I live about 700 miles from this hotel. While during my stay for 8 days at this Springhill, Newark; I ended up getting that I was crazy and it was just lint flying around in 4 different rooms.. Very doubtful, after the Emergency room visit, the loss of my personal space and losing work for a week, mentioning the unwanted guests (super Lice) were in my rental vehicle too. Needless to say if you are in for having a super lice party, excuse ahead for not being PG but, Orgy infested bug party in every Crack and crevice, well you know what that falls in with. Even with no concern and careless attitudes with just notations of ne being crazy and just seeing things their service from day one was conformed to hide by wearing masks I feel as if they knew there was a problem. Service is quite terrible very basic, I mean there is no other word for terrible and lousy. It's a shame as I try and only use Marriot. read more

I travel quite often for work and have never left a review for a hotel before, most are 3-4 stars as to be expected, but there's a time for everything. From what the front desk told me this hotel is only 2 years old and was closed for over a year during COVID, so it is pretty new. The room: the room itself looks nice, and a decent size but has some issues. The fan in the bathroom doesn't shut off, from the second I checked in to the second I checked out it was on, no switch for it, doesn't link to a light or anything. The AC didn't have an "auto" feature so if you wanted the AC on the fan was also running 24/7. The only "good" part about that was the AC fan noise blocked out the bathroom fan noise. When I got out of a shower 1/4 of the bathroom floor was flooded with water, I do not believe the shower door seals. To me it looks like whoever installed the shower had too big of a gap so they put in a $4 rubber seal to try to jump the gap, it doesn't work too well. And then there was a bunch of small things like not being able to have the lights on without your room key in a slot, which was fine at night but then in the morning trying to track down a room key in a pitch black room. The handle for the shower seemed like it was about to fall off. The hook in the shower was broken off. It just wasn't great. The hotel itself: checking in the front desk staff was kind of rude, interrupting while talking and such. In the evening (6:30pm) I went to the front desk to see if they had a bottle opener I could use and stood up there for 3-5 minutes without any hotel staff in sight, even shouting "hello?" towards the opening behind the front desk a few times, eventually just going back to the room empty handed. I don't think SpringHill is off my list of hotels but 100% will not return to this one. read more

This is my granddaughter, Jacquelyn's, review of our experience at SpringHill Suites by Marriot Newark Fremont: In July, my grandmother and I traveled to SpringHill Suites located in Fremont CA. On Tuesday, we tried to check in at 3:00 pm, which is check in time, and were told we had to wait an additional hour to be able to check in. Nik, the assistant general manager, promised my grandmother 5000 additional points on her Bonjoy card. It was one-and- one-half hours later when we were texted that our room was ready. We had planned a four-day long trip to the area to take my four small children to California's Great America, take them to the beaches in the surrounding area, and also to visit San Francisco. Waking up Thursday morning I discovered a line of ants leading from the corner of the room to the top of the table. I am feverishly phobic of small black ants, and I was immediately distressed and began to worry for the safety and cleanliness of the room. I alerted my grandmother, and she too was also upset. We hadn't left food out and had only been in the room a day-and-one-half and now it was crawling with black ants! Upon further investigation of the room, we noticed that there were crumbs and food remnants all along the border of the wall where the ants were traveling from, appearing as if the maid did not thoroughly clean the room before we checked in as we hadn't had anything to eat in the room since checking in because there were no tables or chairs to sit at in the rooms. We went down into the lobby to eat the breakfast downstairs and showed the staff the video of the ants. The hotel manager claimed they were unaware of any ant problem and gave us a line regard that the building was open for six months and this is to be expected for the next five years due to the building being so new. (After we returned home, we found another review of the ant problem in 2019 stating they were told by management the hotel was built on an anthill ! ) They offered to spray while we were away for the day. I disagreed with this as bug spray residue could settle on the children's belongings. They then offered to move us to a different location - the building next door. We still had two nights on our stay and to have to move buildings seemed excessive, so they offered to move us to another room. Claiming maybe a room on a higher floor would be better - we were already on the highest floor so they brought us down two floors and claimed we could inspect the room first. I requested they not use bug spray. We had to wait around for three hours while we spoke to staff, waited on a room, packed, and moved into the new room. The day this incident happened we had planned to go to the beach early enough to get a good spot in Santa Cruz. The children were upset and eager to leave and we felt disrupted having this happen so early in our trip. Upon entering the new room, the smell of bug spray was so thick I had to leave the room soon after entering. When I asked the assistant manager and maid about it, they claimed it was deodorizer and the smell was the same smell as downstairs where the staff had been seen cleaning up another ant infestation and spraying by the elevator - that we brought to their attention! Nik again promised my grandmother another 5000 points, totaling 10,000 for the inconvenience and for cutting into half of our beach time. Although they did comp us for one night room, all the discrepancies and inconveniences were not worth the added stress and loss of valuable vacation time. Our new view was dumpsters loaded with mattresses. A week after we returned home the additional 10,000 points that were promised to my grandmother were only 5000, and after emails back and forth, this was all Nik would add. In my opinion, the two hotel managers were not truthful, condescending, and rude. I will personally never stay at a SpringHill suite Hotel again - and I know my grandmother will not as well. What can I say but this hotel, a subsidiary of Marriott, is lovely. From the 24 hour coffee & tea, btw, the coffee is great, to the most comfortable bed, to the spacious suite, the glass shower & bathroom decor, ALL OF IT IS NICE!! I will be back. They also have Netflix on the tv like The Aloft. The Courtyard doesn't. Brand new hotel that's a cool little spot centrally located next to freeway, restaurants, movie & mall. read more

A few things keep me from giving the 5 stars. The breakfast was not good (poorly stocked, very limited, no butter or decaf!) and the cleaning staff needs to ramp it up a little (sticky residue on the desk-the front desk staff gave out lollipops) and hair ALL over the bathroom...also our coffee maker didn't work. The plusses are comfy beds (although too high), good tv selection, super friendly and helpful front desk, well stocked towels in the pool area, pool very well maintained, room temperature well regulated. The shower was pleasantly large and there was plenty of hot water and thick, thirsty towels. The soaps at Marriot are legend...I'd buy the lemony sage stuff if it was in the stores! I encourage them to continue to make customer service a priority. read more

I rarely write reviews - but I was pissed off enough to write this one. I travel quite a bit so have come across quite a few different types of hotels - but when you see the Marriott brand - you expect a certain level of experience. The hotel in itsself is just OK - for a hotel that is supposed to be for longer stay the rooms are kind of small and just have a small fridge and microwave that is supposed to be the "kitchen" area. The desk and chair in the room are the most uncomfortable i've ever seen - can't even sit there to work on the computer. Their breakfast is decent- but often runs out if you don't get there early enough. And they only clean the room once a week - which is also a little weird. All of these are still OK - the real downside of this hotel is the staff - they are rude, incompetent and do their best to not help. Upon check-out - we were helped by the General Manager - who gave us a temporary bill print out saying that the final one will be sent over email - when I finally got the email bill - they had charged us for an extra night. When we tried to call - we could not get a hold of the manager and the woman who answered the phone basically told us we had to keep calling back till the manager was available because the manager was too busy to call us back. So this took almost 4 days. We finally spoke to someone who said they are going to do an "engineering" review to see if we used the room (this is absurd to begin with if we had checked out???!!???) - anyway they still don't call back so I called again and was told upon investigation- my "request was denied" because there was room activity (WHAT???) - at this point I lost it and told them I would be calling in the fraud department of my credit card and that I wanted to see the camera activity of the front desk since apparently we are still using the room after checkout- and the conversation ended with once again then telling us that the general manager will get back to us. In the mean time I lodged a complaint with Marriott. That evening - I get a call back that the general manager was still too busy and that this other manager had taken an 'executive decision' to believe us and refund the charge (uhhh thanks for "believing" us only after being threatened to call the fraud department!) This whole experience was beyond annoying and has been one of the Worst experiences with hotel staff. Would never ever stay there again - there are plenty of way better options around there - choose something else. read more
