    Coffee/fridge/microwave area (8/2024)
    Dania P.

Located across from a shopping center that offers a mall, Costco, AMC and other businesses. Parking is free and located right in front of the hotel. Overall the room was spacious and had a fridge, microwave and big closet. Other amenities included 24/7 fitness center, heated outdoor pool, and free breakfast. The service from staff was friendly. Overall a good stay. Cons: -Typically hotels have a lobby coffee station but unfortunately they only served coffee during breakfast and would then put it away. -conditioner and body wash were empty had to ask the front office for refill. -shower was dirty in certain corner areas

This hotel is across Costco and Newpark mall which I find very convenient. The hotel is definitely not in a centralize location but it is nice that you have nearby restaurants. Checking-in was smooth, you get a room key and a key card to turn on the lights. I really liked the room we got. It was very clean and well laid out. They pretty much made sure that they utilize every space in the room. Everything within our room and sitting area was clean. Bathroom needs to be worked on. The shower guard needs to replace, the water keeps on sipping through the glass door. Also the lock in the bathroom door was broken. They do have plenty of signs saying not to leave belongings in your car so I'm assuming cars gets broken into alot in this area so make sure you don't leave anything of value in your car. All in all, it was a good stay.

I recently stayed here when I had to be in work for the week. It was really close to my office which is why I chose it. The guy who checked me in was friendly. They had a little market right by the front desk with snacks and drinks. There was a group of business guys grabbing beers and grabbing a table in the lobby area to chat so I grabbed a beer to take to my room. The room was spacious and nice and there was a coffee maker which I always appreciate. The bed was comfy. The complimentary breakfast was nice but I must have come at a bad time because it was packed with what appeared to be a high school girls sports team of some kind which overtook the small area for dining and the waffle machine. It wasn't easy to grab a quick breakfast when so crowded. I did appreciate the salsa for the eggs though! Overall nice hotel for the location and price

Scared when all your belongs were gone and the room looks like broken into. And the housekeeper right outside the room knew nothing about it
    Karen H.

I am grateful to the owner of this hotel for teaching me how to be an obedient and sensible customer who will not cause any trouble to the property. While I still had seven or eight personal belongings in my room, their housekeeper removed them from the room at 9 a.m. and placed them separately. To be a good customer to this hotel, when I leave the room, I have to leave something valuable or large enough for them to think I don't check out. In fact, I didn't check out in any way. So their judgment was the criterion for everything, and they didn't care if I got all my stuff back, because when they handed me back the first bag, I took it and walked out, and later found out there should be more. They didn't care how shocked I was when I returned to my room because I thought my room had been broken into (see the photos attached). They didn't care that I had a lot of arrangements for a holiday and delayed me for 40 minutes waiting for them to return my personal belongings they removed from the room. - it took them four times to get all my stuff back. Thank to my good memory or maybe I still forgot something?? Then I'll lose them forever. All because they assumed the guest of a room that still had six or seven belongings checked out. Cleaned out my belongings and kept them in several bags/places (why not put them in one bag?) without a single notice to me. They used their best judgment to force me to check out and even taught me to hang up the "do not disturb" sign so it wouldn't happen again and not feel sorry for what they did. What a gaslighting theory! Okay, for the first time in my life, I learned how to be a satisfying customer to the owner at this hotel.. I will remember the lesson they taught me and never come back.

The only pic I took to show everyone the sofa is an actual bed.

I put my parents up here for Mother's Day weekend. It was a great experience. First. The staff at the front desk were friendly and courteous. The establishment was clean and bright. The room spacious. Love the walk in closet. The couch is not a pullout sofa. No bar in the back. Remove the back cushions and it's a twin sized bed. Tip: use one of the back cushions as a headboard. Then there is a trundle bed underneath you can pull out. It's a twin. There's a desk between the two queen beds and the sofa area. It has a sliding glass window to create separation. The bathroom was modern and clean. It was also spacious. To me every hotel needs more towel bars and places just to put things. But this one was fine. There was a walk in closet. Yup. Walk in. By the sofa area was a concealed fridge and microwave. It was under the wet bar. But what was best about this place. First. The hot breakfast. It was fresh and changed daily. The frittatas were yum!! And the scrambled eggs were so good. Second. The service. Shout out to Rosalina. She was friendly and professional. She even went the extra mile and asked if we needed our table cleaned off. At this point we were just sitting there chilling anyway. She is awesome. She has a warm smile and tbh deserves to be on the Springhill Suite commercial. There is ample parking and hey. It's right next to a Costco. Super convenient. It's also close to the 880 freeway.

Morning Ant party in the bathroom
    Ron R.

Thank goodness for a newer Marriott property. The front desk was nice but not really that helpful. I was given a room on the first floor and discovered one ant in the bathroom. Then by the evening, this ant told his homies where to go. I did not have any food in this room but these guys showed up in the bathroom. I didn't think it was bad so I wiped them up and sent them on a toilet ride. Unfortunately the ant invite was still open as more showed up along with a spider in my shower. It was already late so I just decided to sleep. That didn't go well, felt two ants in the night. I called the front desk in the morning and requested a room change. They apologized and said they currently don't have any availability. But they would as soon as guests check out. They said they would call once one opened. I called data 2p & was told that they were waiting for me. There was a miscommunication. I got another room. No ants. But the spider in my first room must have texted his homie and told him what room I went to. Yup, another spider in my shower. The room otherwise is clean and had the usual Marriott touches. Same Marriott free breakfast. Same Marriott shampoo. No frills but the value was there. I will say, do not get a room next to the first floor exit. Room 116 is subject to the loud and disturbingly strong door shutting. It will wake you up and shake your wall. I'd still stay here but now I know not to stay on the first floor.

Emilio at the front desk is a rude and inexperienced employee, it's a new building but I will never stay at this location ever again.

Left for the day came back to ants everywhere.

Lovely place that was clean, welcoming, and overall good experience. This is a go to place for me in the area now. Booked online through their website. Easy check in later that evening. The parking is $10/night, but a savings if you do not have a car. Parking anywhere around the building is plenty, except for in front. The room rate was excellent for a king with a kitchenette (not dish ware) and a pool view. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom with separate shower and tub which I like.

While I appreciate the location of the hotel and the size of the rooms (on one of my visits I had a…read morelarge king suite and on the other, I had a king suite with an adjoining king room/bathroom) there are some good things and a few things that are left to be desired: 1. The landscaping - this may sound weird, but on my first visit here, it was very windy throughout the night. There were loud noises outside of my window that resembled thunder, making it difficult to sleep. Come to find out, it was a tree that had grown so much that it was rubbing up against the building all night causing a great deal disturbance and noise. 2. The front desk - it's pretty hit or miss. The ladies during the daytime are usually friendly and knowledgeable. However, the guys I've encountered in the evening seem to be disengaged, on their phones and not knowledgeable enough to be able to issue my prepaid breakfast vouchers to the point that one of them had me come back to pick them up the following morning. 3. The morning breakfast area staff - can be great at times and then totally unreasonable and unaccommodating at other times. I had one occasion on the weekend and the gentleman was awesome. He even made us fresh cinnamon rolls when we ordered. The service was so great that I asked the next day for the same thing as I had two breakfast vouchers each day which could either be used on the buffet or the menu. This is where the unaccommodating, unreasonableness comes in. On the next day, I wanted the same two cinnamon rolls ($7 each) and two yogurts (don't know the price but definitely not priced at $11 each). The value of each voucher (again, I had two) was $18 each. The staff member then told me I had to pay for the yogurts because I could only get one thing. I couldn't understand his reasoning and briefly went back and forth him about it. I then went to the front desk and they said they would let him know it was okay to do this. Next, I went back to him to get the cinnamon rolls and yogurt to which he replied, " O I forgot to tell you, we're out of cinnamon rolls." Wow...This is totally unacceptable. I would name names for all to see, however I really think this is a systemic issue that needs to be addressed all around. I say this because on another day I had grabbed food with my vouchers at the buffet and the other person from my party, prior to us leaving the hotel went to get a cup of orange juice. They were yelled at by a female staff member from across the room "excuse me! The orange juice isn't free!" This was despite using the vouchers. Needless to say it was embarrassing and uncalled for. 4. The housekeeping - While the work they are doing isn't terrible, I strongly think they need to give a little more time and attention to the nooks and crannies in the bathrooms along with doing things like dusting the curtains in the rooms. The hotel isn't the newest and needs some extra TLC to feel less stuffy and dusty. Overall, this location isn't all bad. They have free breakfast, reasonable parking ($10), are pet friendly, have Tesla charging stations within the parking lot, and have spacious rooms. For myself, I am teetering at this point as to whether I hate it or love it. I would love to come back later and say how much they've improved.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND STAYCATION…read more I'm enrolled in different rewards programs such as airlines and casinos. One of the programs I'm enrolled in is Asia Miles. I hadn't earned miles through my Asia Miles account for close to 18 months. If I had not earned miles by May 30 all the miles I earned through Asia Miles will reset to zero. One of their partners is Courtyard by Marriott. I reserved a room for two nights during Memorial Weekend. The reason I booked Courtyard Newark Silicon Valley was due to the swimming pool as I needed something to do on my staycation. I came here Saturday afternoon. The guest room is spacious enough. The bed was really comfy. The staff was really nice. The lobby was clean and organized. I even like the Keurig coffee machine inside the room that had some coffee pods. There's a cafe opened in the morning when you can buy coffee and hot food. Despite all the positive attributes of this Marriott I gave the rating I did because I came for a staycation. After I checked-in on a Saturday afternoon I tried to swim in the swimming pool. Noticed I said "tried", but the swimming pool was cold. I ended going to the whirlpool. The next day on a Sunday I came back to the swimming in the afternoon. I noticed the debris from trees in the pool. There are a lot of trees around the pool. With the abundance of trees this pool needs to be cleaned constantly. During my stay there not only was the pool cold but also dirty. If I had to stay at another Courtyard by Marriott it wouldn't be here.

Loved ones of staff were constantly on property, only assuming they were not paying guests as these same people were seen hopping the pool fences and not tapping room keys. Marriott Bonvoy employees (they told me straight out that they worked for the company) were right there celebrating with them. It's very apparent that they don't want their endless summer to be taken away from them. Already anticipating the responses and Yelp cover ups that will be taking place after this review. They made it very apparent that they hated me: I was welcomed to this Residence Inn by 3 men peeing on the wall right outside of my hotel room window. Grown men were yelling in the lobby and up and down the halls all night long. Boyfriends of employees parked in front of the hotel blasting music at full volume all day. Adults hopped the fence into the pool area to get drunk and smoke weed and run around for hours on end night after night. Couldn't use the jacuzzi due to deathly allergy to smoke inhalation but begged them to have this area usable for me for just one night of my stay. Instead, the drunken, puking, reefer, sex party was still continuing in that hot tub that same night. Zero cameras on property and staff used this as a way to try to gaslight me into believing that complaints I made weren't real. Staff would knock on the door and immediately use their hotel keys to open it and try to walk in, even after I'd yell that I had just gotten out of the shower and was naked. I would be told that the hotel had security but after staying on property for 5 days straight I didn't see them more than once. I was asked to instead provide the last names of strangers so identities could be found and issues could be resolved, obviously impossible. Used the laundry services and my clothes smelled like mold, mildew, and diarrhea. Had to pack up all of my stuff in the middle of my stay to move to the property next door. Staff rolled their eyes at me and talked about me under their breath during my entire stay because I was unhappy about the things that were continuously happening and how unseriously I was being taken. Treated like an inconvenience for not being able to get sleep or work done and instead physically ill from the stress of feeling dangerously unsafe. Came home to my legs and ankles so swollen I can barely walk. My health issues were exasperated by the stress and fear brought onto me while at Residence Inn Newark. To the point that I'm not eating, barely sleeping, and on the toilet 10+ times a day. Bolting awake at night from a dead sleep with severe anxiety that another man is going to come through my hotel room door. Spent hours on the phone with corporate and was promised phone calls and emails from hotel management, which they never delivered on it. Was told issues were escalated to upper management and even told elaborate stories on how these managers actually dealt with the situation behind the scenes. Same managers knew nothing of these events taking place the very next day when I asked them face to face. Was offered $0 in compensation nor any kind of resolution for what I experienced. This is all just the tip of the ice berg to the horrors of what to expect at this property. Fun place if you want to party it up. Not a nice place if you want to be treated as a valuable customer whose right to feel safe is considered.

The room was not properly cleaned. A dirty fork was left behind, which clearly should have been noticed during inspection. The clock in the room is also missing its 9V battery. Every time the key card is removed and the room loses power, the clock resets completely. This may seem minor, but for travelers it becomes an unnecessary inconvenience. To me, this reflects a management issue more than a housekeeping issue. If leadership conducted routine quality inspections on even a handful of rooms daily, problems like this would be identified immediately. Small cost-cutting decisions -- such as not replacing a simple battery -- negatively impact the guest experience. Additionally, the shower water pressure is extremely weak, making it difficult to properly shower after traveling. To make matters worse, guests are also charged for parking in Newark, which feels more like a revenue grab than a guest-focused policy. Overall, this property does not deliver value for the price being charged, and I will not stay at this location again in the future.
