I want to give to give one star initially. But the front desk staff is so friendly. So I give two stars for their customer service. We checked in at late night, and it's pretty smooth process. After entered the room, we smelled some bad smell inside the room. It smells like someone's p-e-e. We kept the door open for more than an hour to circulate the air. But after we turned on the AC, I started sniffing, same as my friends. We checked the AC filter, it is clean. So I have no idea where is the sour smell came from. The good thing is, the second day when we woke up, we didn't smell that much bad smell anymore. The coffee machine is not that clean, so make sure clean it before usage. The green tea pod is pretty good. You can make your own coffee or tea using their free coffee/ tea pod. Mattress is pretty comfort as well. I slept very well. Parking lot has plenty space for parking. If you are not too picky, then this Marriot hotel is a good choice for a short stay like 2-3 days.

Needs a upgrade.

3.5 Rounding up to 4. The Man who checked us in last night was super nice. I liked him. The lobby was nice. Again, you all know how I feel about Hilton. It was nice that this place had a Keurig, and the tv was big. However, this needs a face lift in their rooms. I was less than thrilled about the shower, because there wasn't a bath tub. The curtains had holes, and pillows was a little stiff.

I'm sorry to see some others had unpleasant experiences, I had a great stay. Room was clean and well kept, staff was very nice, and it is an excellent location. I do agree with another reviewer that the cafe (or whatever it's called) inside was a bit pricey for the food and beverages they serve. But hey, that's convenience right? I'll stay here again

If it wasn't for the room they didn't have for me, the extra $90 preauthorization charge on top of a $200 preauthorization charge already , the loud family party in the room next to me, or the fact that they didn't stop the party, this place would have been pretty nice. Even when I told the manager about the party that was going on past 5am, he just looked at me said OK. No apology or anything. Didn't even really address the matter at all. The Marriott company has plenty of other places to stay, I'd try another spot if I were you.

Some of the blood on the curtains.

This was by far the worst hotel Experience that I've ever had. I booked my stay as part of a wedding party. Upon my arrival, the receptionist quoted me a price $100 more than what was booked and my check out would be a day earlier. Then once I tried to pay , the receptionist told me that my card was demagnetized and if I didn't have another card my reservation will be canceled. ( I had actually just used the card prior to my arrival to purchase gas.) I asked to manually input my card or let me use Apple Pay and was told that's not an option. I called the director of the wedding party who called and they finally said they would put it in manually after about 2-3 hours. I'm the mean time I waited in another member of the wedding parties room . They curtains were covered in dry blood . I had to help them move out of that room. I finally got a room , I slept and woke up itching really badly. I called down to the receptionist to address this but the receptionist told me that I wasn't registered in their computer as being a guess. That was the last straw i immediately went down to canceling my reservation. He was then able to find me in the system. Other people that attended the wedding also told me of itching and seeing bugs. I wish I could give this place 0 stars !!!!

Toilet seat was bubbly and peeling. Not sure how this is possible.

The place is nice and clean, but extremely outdated. The rooms, bathrooms, the elevator need a major renovation.

However bedding was itchy and uncomfortable. Breakfast in the morning was great, really impressed with Nina, the staff member who kept the dining area sparkling clean, food replenished, and helped give out breakfast meals to guests who were waiting for her to finish replenishing the empty bowls. He made sure to remind me that he was doing me the favor of taking some time in his office to speak to me. The Front Office Manager, Maria Lopez Soto.. I'm not sure if she was protecting me from him or vice versa. The entire front desk staff seemed to do everything in their power to protect each other. Loved ones of staff were constantly on property, only assuming they were not paying guests as these same people were seen hopping the pool fences and not tapping room keys. Marriott Bonvoy employees (they told me straight out that they worked for the company) were right there celebrating with them. It's very apparent that they don't want their endless summer to be taken away from them. Already anticipating the responses and Yelp cover ups that will be taking place after this review. They made it very apparent that they hated me: I was welcomed to this Residence Inn by 3 men peeing on the wall right outside of my hotel room window. Grown men were yelling in the lobby and up and down the halls all night long. Boyfriends of employees parked in front of the hotel blasting music at full volume all day. Adults hopped the fence into the pool area to get drunk and smoke weed and run around for hours on end night after night. Couldn't use the jacuzzi due to deathly allergy to smoke inhalation but begged them to have this area usable for me for just one night of my stay. Instead, the drunken, puking, reefer, sex party was still continuing in that hot tub that same night. Zero cameras on property and staff used this as a way to try to gaslight me into believing that complaints I made weren't real. Staff would knock on the door and immediately use their hotel keys to open it and try to walk in, even after I'd yell that I had just gotten out of the shower and was naked. I would be told that the hotel had security but after staying on property for 5 days straight I didn't see them more than once. I was asked to instead provide the last names of strangers so identities could be found and issues could be resolved, obviously impossible. Used the laundry services and my clothes smelled like mold, mildew, and diarrhea. Had to pack up all of my stuff in the middle of my stay to move to the property next door. Staff rolled their eyes at me and talked about me under their breath during my entire stay because I was unhappy about the things that were continuously happening and how unseriously I was being taken. Treated like an inconvenience for not being able to get sleep or work done and instead physically ill from the stress of feeling dangerously unsafe. Came home to my legs and ankles so swollen I can barely walk. My health issues were exasperated by the stress and fear brought onto me while at Residence Inn Newark. To the point that I'm not eating, barely sleeping, and on the toilet 10+ times a day. Bolting awake at night from a dead sleep with severe anxiety that another man is going to come through my hotel room door. Spent hours on the phone with corporate and was promised phone calls and emails from hotel management, which they never delivered on it. Was told issues were escalated to upper management and even told elaborate stories on how these managers actually dealt with the situation behind the scenes. Same managers knew nothing of these events taking place the very next day when I asked them face to face. Was offered $0 in compensation nor any kind of resolution for what I experienced. This is all just the tip of the ice berg to the horrors of what to expect at this property. Fun place if you want to party it up. Not a nice place if you want to be treated as a valuable customer whose right to feel safe is considered.

The room was not properly cleaned. A dirty fork was left behind, which clearly should have been noticed during inspection. The clock in the room is also missing its 9V battery. Every time the key card is removed and the room loses power, the clock resets completely. This may seem minor, but for travelers it becomes an unnecessary inconvenience. To me, this reflects a management issue more than a housekeeping issue. If leadership conducted routine quality inspections on even a handful of rooms daily, problems like this would be identified immediately. Small cost-cutting decisions -- such as not replacing a simple battery -- negatively impact the guest experience. Additionally, the shower water pressure is extremely weak, making it difficult to properly shower after traveling. To make matters worse, guests are also charged for parking in Newark, which feels more like a revenue grab than a guest-focused policy. Overall, this property does not deliver value for the price being charged, and I will not stay at this location again in the future.

Service: Not applicable for breakfast as it's self service buffet style. 0/5 for housekeeping. They only folded/tucked back the bedding and replaced the towels. A lot of the ice machines were out and not working and also I hope they get the refrigerator in the café area checked. The first morning that we had breakfast there I went and grabbed yogurt for our daughter, and I realize that the yogurt lids were not properly sealed, so I threw it away, and I grabbed a new one only to discover it had the same problem. Then I noticed some of the yogurt was doming like they were fermenting. It was brought to the attention of the staff and they threw away yogurt. Then the next day, my husband grabbed a milk out of that same refrigerator and it was completely bad well before expiration date.
