I am a Lifetime Diamond Hilton Honors member and stay at Hilton properties frequently. Because of…read morethat, I have a clear expectation for what quality hospitality and guest service should look like. No amount of renovation can compensate for poor customer service. On Sunday night (3/11), my check-in experience with Beth at the front desk was excellent. She was welcoming, professional, and genuinely focused on guest satisfaction. Despite the hotel being under renovation, she placed me in a nicely updated, quiet, and comfortable room. The renovation itself looks great. My only minor maintenance note would be a loose showerhead in an otherwise well-updated bathroom. The next morning, however, the service experience was disappointing. I arrived for breakfast around 8:10 AM, with breakfast advertised until 9:00 AM. Most of the food trays were nearly empty, and guests were scraping the bottom of the pans for meat, eggs, and potatoes. Instead of restocking the buffet, the breakfast attendant was chatting at the front desk. When I politely mentioned that breakfast was still being served for nearly another hour, the front desk associate did not offer an apology, assistance, or even basic acknowledgment. There was no "I'm sorry," no "How can I help you?" -- just a dismissive look and a quiet comment made to the breakfast attendant. The message was clear: my concern was an inconvenience. That response is the opposite of hospitality. Guests should never feel uncomfortable for asking about a service that is actively being advertised. Mornings are when hotels should be focused on supporting and delighting guests, not appearing irritated by them. Beth's service the night before demonstrated what great hospitality looks like. The morning interaction showed the complete opposite. Because of this, I chose to check out early and move to another hotel. Pros: * Excellent front desk service from Beth on 3/11 * Quiet, comfortable, renovated room * Property updates look nice Cons: * Breakfast not properly stocked * Staff focused on conversation rather than guests * Dismissive, unhelpful front desk response in the morning If I were the General Manager, I would strongly revisit how morning service and guest interactions are handled -- because service, not renovations, is what truly defines a hotel experience.

Our room was ready and I was so grateful that we had an opportunity to rest before heading to dinner and the theater. Upon entering the room, I noticed that there wasn't any water on the table BUT the little tag thingy was there. My sister told me to make sure I told someone- so I did. The young lady said that she'd make a note and I wouldn't be charged. Welp! We checked out the next day. I mentioned it again. No problem. You won't be charged. Guess what!? I was charged for 2 bottles of water that I didn't drink. I'm great that I have notifications turned on for all credit card charges. Had it not alerted me when we were almost back home, I would've missed seeing that charge. I called the hotel the next day and the charge was credited back to me. I appreciate the fast response time for the $6 charge. I would stay here again.

Pleasant stay overall…read more Things I enjoyed: Tyler, at the front desk, was absolutely amazing! He answered all of my questions, provided me with complimentary toothpaste (of all the things to leave at home...goodness.) and helped me to find other apps that will deliver dinner to this particular hotel (shame on you Yelp for only giving me one restaurant option. And a crummy one at that!) Strong water pressure (makes getting clean so much easier and faster!) Plenty of towels and washcloths. A microwave and refrigerator in the room. Bright bedside lighting Small but efficient fitness center (although the exercise ball could've used some air) Complimentary pouches of Colgate toothpaste available at the front desk (worth another mention) Even though the hotel is close to the interstate, the highway noise was minimal and not much of a disruption. The complimentary breakfast was really good, and slightly different than ones I've had at other hotels. In addition to Belgian waffles, there's a variety of cake slices, english muffins, bagels, whole wheat toast, scrambled eggs as well as cheese omelets, assorted fruit, boiled eggs, turkey sausage patties, Canadian and regular bacon, oatmeal, granola and dried fruit, as well as a small variety of dried cereal (Raisin Bran, Cheerios, and Frosted Flakes, I think). Surprisingly, the eggs were not overcooked, and ditto for the turkey sausage. Many other hotels I've been to cook these things en masse and don't pay enough attention to the details. As a result, they're often overcooked and dried out. I was surprised and pleased to see that this was not the case here. Things I would improve: The ironing board has a very thin pad inside of the cover, which leaves imprints on clothes. No full length mirror The toiletries tray makes the hand soap almost impossible to lift off of it once it dries (thank goodness Housekeeping put it on a washcloth after cleaning my room!) The iron must not have been used in a while because for the first couple times I pressed the steam button, it emitted puffs of grit and dust. It also doesn't modulate heat very well. My supply in-room disposable paper cups were not replenished when my room was cleaned, so I had to go downstairs in order to enjoy a cup of morning tea. I was ironing a delicate fabric (on the proper setting) and was almost done when the iron unexpectedly heated up and burned my garment. Not happy about that. There's only one ice machine in the building: on the first floor across the hall from the pool. Rooms are not as quiet as I would like. You can hear other people fumbling around in adjoining rooms. Although the highway noise was not an issue, you could definitely feel it when semi trucks rolled by (a word of caution if you get rooms facing the highway side of the hotel. This probably isn't an issue on the other side of the building). It would be more convenient, as well as more economical for the hotel, and for the company, to offer individual sweeteners and stirrers in the rooms for coffee and tea, just like they do at the coffee and tea bar downstairs. The condiment packets are not reusable once opened, and if I only need sugar, the other sweeteners, creamer, and straw get wasted. If I prefer two packets of sugar, I have to open, and ultimately waste, two condiment packets. If the items are available individually, I can take as much, or as little, as I like with no waste.

If you haven't stayed at a Fairfield before, it's pretty barebones, but gets you through the night. They have breakfast in the morning, but no hot breakfast with the sole exception of oatmeal. Parking is free outside. Wifi is free. No concierge lounge (duh). I didn't have time to check out the gym or the pool. I liked the size of the bathroom. I didn't care for the fan setting on the air conditioner in the room. They have fridges and microwaves in each room. I'll probably try the Courtyard next time.

With that being said i MUST say that this AmericInn hotel by Wyndham/The Mermaid entertainment and event Center here in Mounds View, MN is by far with no comparison THE BEST HOTEL that we have seen around this area. After checking into our room we ordered some food from room service that was made at The Mermaid and then brought over to our room. This place goes above and beyond with their AMAZING attitudes and their customer service. Joe brought over our food and we didn't hear him knock so he walked back over to The Mermaid and then contacted us, and from most places we would of gotten attitude and probably would of had to walk over and get our food ourselfs. NOT HERE, Joe was amazing and even though he was very busy over at The Mermaid, Joe insisted that it was ok and that he would be over shortly with it food again. LET ME TELL YA, the food we ordered was the best we had both had in a good while. I have been on a mission to find the place around here that has amazing cheese curds and till we can here I had not found anything even remotely close too amazing. THE CHEESE CURDS AND ONION RINGS HERE LITERALLY JUST BECAME #1 IN MY BOOK ARE A MUST HAVE IF YOU EVER STOP BY HERE. after eating we went exploring and checked out the gaming room that was here with so many different cool games to try out. We stopped my the bar where the bartender Sky poured us up a couple of perfectly mixed drinks. From the bar we mosied down to check out the bowling, where we happened to run into Joe (the one that brought our food) again who was running the bowling. Joe was so prompted with helping us get all checked in and shooed up and ready for bowling even With how busy it was. I'm also a person that's full of questions about places we stay, and Joe was happy to answer all my questions I had with a smile on his face. Joe was very knowledgeable and beyond helpful with everything. I know that when I plan my next event that it is going to be here and I'll be requesting Joe to be the one that helps. SHOUT OUT TO YOU JOE FOR BEING AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ROCK STAR AT YOUR JOB HERE! YOU SIR HAVE GREAT POTENTIAL WITH WHAT YOU DO! Now this morning we went down for the continental breakfast... YUMMM! They just only have waffles but there were eggs and bacon and sausage gravy and biscuits just to name a few. There were plenty of people down there when we went and normally that means that all the good stuff is gone except the waffles. To my extatic surprise there was still plenty of the eggs and stuff. We owe a big THANK YOU to Tammy who was the one running all over the place keeping all in line and cleaned up and stocked. She could tell when someone needed help with something and Tammy, dawning the most inviting and lovely smile ever was right there to see what she could do for us and what she could help with. Thank you so much Tammy for sharing your kindness with us while we were there!! I really can't say enough about how wonderful this stay has been here. 100% without a doubt we will be coming back here.. I recommend that anyone looking for an amazing hotel stay you need to come stay at this AmericInn hotel by Wyndham/The Mermaid I promise you, you won't be disappointed!

I tried out the restaurant in the hotel my last night, but ventured out into the surrounding area the other days and nights I was there for food and shopping. There is a mall and several shopping centers withing a five minute drive of the hotel. They operate a shuttle that I used frequently. The hotel staff told me they had just ended a contract, but in spite of that they were super accommodating and offered the shuttle to me whenever I needed to go somewhere. I am not from the area, so I had lots of questions and everyone on the staff was so helpful. Jeanne helped me with restaurants, Steven/Stephen helped me find a Lynx jersey and a good place to eat breakfast, and Thomson helped me schedule my shuttle rides. Everyone was so nice!!!! i was lucky to book this hotel and to meet this amazing staff. The room was spacious and the hallways were quiet up until my last night. I started my stay on a Wednesday and left on a Sunday. Once the weekend visitors arrived the hotel was more busy and much more noisy. The staff were still helpful though. I enjoyed everything about my room. The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean, and I got fresh towels daily. I would stay in this hotel again if I were in the area.

I'm writing this review during my fourth stay in 10 months because each time I think a stay can't get better, it does. They knock it out of the park each and every time! The pet-friendly hotel is close to the University so it's perfect to take my dog back and forth between appointments. While at the hotel, there's ample outdoor space to walk your dog and there's even a large courtyard for pets to run and play. During warm weather, the hotel has a patio in the courtyard with tables and a grill. So you can enjoy yourself while your pupper does too. There's also an indoor swimming pool. Rooms are large, roomy, comfortable and best of all, clean! The kitchen area has a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Cooktops with skillets are also available. Ample dishes and flatware are stocked in the rooms. Paper towels, dish soap, etc. too. Each room also has a couch and table. I can't say enough good things about the employees. From the moment you walk in you're greeted with a smile and a helpful attitude! On this most recent visit, my dog was scheduled for a second brain surgery and the front desk team gave me a "get well" card for him. The next day they generously gave my a huge gift bag of treats and toys for Huck to enjoy, which was amazingly thoughtful. I'm a pretty picky person and like to call myself a "service snob." But there's nothing this hotel needs to improve because they already to everything right. I whole-heartedly highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a pet-friendly hotel near the University.
