We had a fantastic night at the Hewing. From check in to check out, all of the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. Our room was beautiful and clean, the bed was super comfy, especially the pillows and comforter. I was surprised that the TV wasn't connected to the internet (no streaming services), but had local cable. It certainly wasn't a dealbreaker and we binge-watched Real Housewives of Atlanta all night, but access to streaming would have been a plus. When I return to Minneapolis, I'll be staying here again!

We stayed here for a night for our anniversary. Cool old building and ambience. Pricy! Used the sauna and rooftop pool. It was cool to have wait staff bring us drinks to the pool. Make sure you lock your locker up right. I didn't and my robe and room key disappeared. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but had dessert in the lobby/bar area. Their Hugo Spritz is a little too sweet for my taste but we enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb compote and chocolate desserts. Beds were super comfy and loved the noon checkout time. Also loved that they arranged a couple's massage through a third party (Body of the Earth) and the masseuses were amazing! Parking overnight using valet is about $60 but was convenient.

The Hewing is a stunning boutique hotel. The rooftop is lively and has an impeccable view. Service at the bar is quick and I thoroughly enjoyed the espresso martini. Be ready to stand, seating is limited!

We stayed at the Hewing Hotel the night that we got engaged, it was the perfect place for a night away from home! We the check in process was quick and easy, with the staff being friendly and kind. When we got to our room they had a bottle of celebratory champagne and chocolates set up, we spent some time up at the rooftop bar and having drinks in the rooftop hot tub! The drinks were all delicious with our favorites being the espresso martini and the spicy margarita! We were able to park in the surface lot right next to the building, they offered valet parking as well. Both overnight options! There is limited street parking, and a number of surface lots in the area that offer affordable parking options

I've been to the hewing a few times for drinks and only one other time for food. Not sure how I don't have more pictures. Things to know before you go. This is downtown so expect to street park but they also have valet. This is located in the hewing hotel, so it's often busy especially on nights and weekends. Inside is beautiful and there is a decent amount of seating in the bar area. The cocktail and food menu has a little something for everyone and the prices are what I would consider slightly higher than average, however the food is made well and with the few extra dollars. They do make a few unique twist on some of the menu items so just pay attention and you'll be fine. I always like to see something unique. I had the Hewing Burger and it was so tasty. I usually prefer a little more pink but this was still nice and moist throughout with good flavor. Their staff is well versed in their menu and I will say that they handle even difficult customers well. I do think it's worth a stop if you're in the area

The place is always beautiful and has a great crowd all the time. Drinks are good and bartenders are nice. The wait times for a drink though is the downfall of this place. You have to wait a very long time to order just a single drink, but I understand the bartenders are doing their best. Other than that, always a spot to enjoy, especially the skyline view if there's space. - Anthony

First time checking out the Hewing brunch (noticed I've never reviewed HH/dinner here) In which case I honestly didn't even know and slipped in just before it ended at 2. Service matched all my other experiences which was great. Server was extremely attentive checking in at all the right times. I did the house old fashioned (I said it was a late brunch, don't judge) which is always a solid choice. They feature a private barrel knob creek rye. I snagged their breakfast Sammie with bacon, sunny side up egg, cry baby Craig's aioli maple jam, and the most delicious brioche bun. I could have used a bit more bacon which, who doesn't, but it was a really solid sandwich I'd do again. Highly recommend!

I love the boutique feel of this hotel. Exposed beams, rustic/trendy art, a fun restaurant/bar on the first floor and another on the 6th floor (hot tub outside)! The rooms are spacious and decorated in the rustic charm. It was the best night sleep I had during my trip.

Really like the vibe of the bar area, the open space with plenty of tables and the big bar. So far we've only tried the cheese curds and duck fat fries. The curds were not great. There was a lot of fried bits and salami and not a lot of cheese. The fries were really good, the seasoning spot on and the dill aioli was delicious. The drink I got was disappointing. The honey badger sounded right up my alley but it ended up being very sweet, almost a syrupy kind of sweetness. I wasn't able to finish it. My husband ordered the old fashioned and said it was good so I'll have to stick to that next time. The service was great and I have heard good things about their other food so I would give it another chance but this visit was a little disappointing.

So fun! We visited for a rooftop concert and enjoyed our time. The rooftop has a bar and pool with a lot of space to lounge around. The views were amazing as well!

This hotel is so exquisite! Think the Hallmark channel setting for a boutique hotel just in time for the holidays. This is my 4th time staying at the hotel, and I'm always in love with the decor, and the ambiance. The bar is always happening at night and the place is usually packed. The rooms are always meticulously clean, and the place has a very industrial feel to it. Probably converted an d warehouse. Think of the Kimpton hotels, but in a grander scale. They have a rooftop pool which is always heated and a gym in the first floor. Staff has always been professional and courteous.

Ordered snacks while hanging at the pool: cheese curds, Brussel sprouts, and charcuterie. We loved EVERYTHING especially the curds

When checking in, they asked us if we were here for a special occasion and upon learning that it was a girls night getaway, they provided us with BOGO app and drink coupons to the 2 restaurants onsite. They also suggested a few dishes to try. When we returned to our room after a show at the Orpheum, we found a bottle of bubbly with a handwritten note on the table!! It was such a kind gesture and so so thoughtful. I've never experienced something like that before - usually it's a birthday or anniversary where this type of stuff happens so we were thrilled the front desk would provide such a gift for friends simply getting together. We had dinner at Breva Bar (on the first floor) and loved the food. One tip - if the Minnesota Orchestra is having an event (close proximity), there will likely be a rush of diners beforehand and service can be tough/limited due to restaurant capacity. We experienced it first hand and had to wait a long time for food. But once the orchestra crowd cleared, it was prompt service. Another tip - do not skip the burrata & apple starter. It was so good we ordered it TWICE. Our room was on a high floor with views of downtown. The real star is though is the bed. I've stayed at Marriott properties before (Ivy is part of the Marriott family) but none of them compares to a Hotel Ivy bed. There's a reason this is a luxury hotel because this is a luxurious bed. Fun fact: Marriott actually sells these beds online and the prices are crazy expensive. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby the next morning. We enjoyed a simple but filling breakfast at the hotel bar before concluding our short 1 night but very memorable stay. So glad I got to experience Hotel Ivy, the beautiful ambiance, and stellar service. If I feel like spoiling myself again for another girls get together, I'm coming back here.

Not worth the hype…read more Was genuinely excited to stay at the W Minneapolis from Dec 19-22, but unfortunately the experience ended up feeling underwhelming, and stressful. Cost. The W is expensive, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Nightly rates hover around $200+ per night. Valet parking is $60 per night; objectively overpriced, though undeniably convenient. Additional fees: Pet owners, expect a $100 flat fee plus $25 per night, which adds up quickly. Where things start to fall apart is navigation and access to information. The hotel is surprisingly confusing to get around, and there's virtually no wayfinding or signage. In fully embracing the digital-only approach, the hotel has eliminated all traditional paper materials. No map. No room book. No quick-reference guide. Everything lives digitally. That sounds modern--until you need basic information like restaurant hours. eg). I attempted to visit the bar on floor 27 at around 330 pm. (It doesn't open until 5pm) However none of this is clearly displayed, and SUPER difficult to find without messaging the front desk and the Marriott app was hit-or-miss at best during my stay. The digital key never worked once, and even the room phone didn't function. That wouldn't be a huge issue if the app worked reliably--but it didn't. I did message the front desk through the app to request a USB-C charging cable and was told none were available. In 2025. At a W. That felt less like sleek minimalism and more like missed fundamentals. Food/ Room Service: Absolutely excellent. Manny's Steakhouse and the Prohibition Bar are both fantastic and independently operated in partnership with the hotel. See Manny's Steakhouse for a full review, it alone was a highlight of the stay. The room itself was very spacious, but it's important to remember this is an old building, and it shows. I struggled to maintain a consistent water temperature the entire stay. The room layout was also frustrating: the TV is mounted far from the bed, on a wall shared with neighboring rooms. Turning up the volume even slightly resulted in a noise complaint from next door. Yep, that actually happened. Overall, the W Minneapolis has style, history, and good food...but the experience feels more focused on image than guest usability. With better wayfinding, reliable tech, and basic in-room information, this could be a great stay. As it stands, it didn't live up to the hype
