DO NOT USE SPRING GREEN. They treated my lawn and killed all my grass. I usually use true green but thought I try to save some money. BIG MISTAKE. I wish u had read the reviews before I used their service. They have a history of killing your grass. I had a beautiful lawn now all I have is patches of dead grass. Customer service is rude and blames customer for killing grass- stated I must of had a virus from the look of reviews 90% of their customers have a virus. Spring Green customer 2 years ago. Last year they had staffing issues and never delivered service. They promised staffing issues were good this season. Prepaid for 840 dollars of service this year. Received notice March 25 2025 they were coming for first application. 65 degrees that day and no rain. Never showed or contacted me with explanation of failure to begin service. Just called service Representative Sarah and requested refund. Refund will take 30 days by mail with no option of refund to Credit card. I will now contact State Atty General with full complaint and report this Business practice. My fault for giving them a second chance. I now must scramble to find other service. Update 5/14/23 They did finally show up today, to my surprise, the technician was polite and courteous. He had no knowledge of the battle I was have and was concerned about applying to much product on my lawn unknown to him the first application was not done. Spring Green out July 24 2023 to fertilize dropped to much by inside gate killing grass also have some Creeping Charlie and Crabgrass i was out there today pulling crabgrass and Charlie feel like i am paying but not getting the best service. My lawn is the worst looking on the block. Spring Green said we had insects so we had them spray for insects. After they sprayed the lawn it looks like straw. In areas it's down to the dirt. These people are horrible, they do not pay attention to details and It's extremely frustating. They would do my neighbors lawn and not mine and we were scheduled on the same day. I also had to regrow grass in some spots because it died afer the second treatment. They aren't consistant. read more

This company is a joke. The cost was not explained correctly. My understanding is that the price I was quoted was for the quarter and only to find out that it was monthly. I will admit that I don't pay attention to my credit card statements as much as I should. When I received a charge, I called to cancel and reel that I should have been reimbursed. But then I received a call that they were going to service my home I told them I had canceled, and after the back and forth from them telling me I didn't for almost 15 minutes, they found the cancellation in the notes. They tell me that I should not cancel and have my house serviced the next day since I already paid for it. I say, if I paid for it then you should service my home even if I cancel it. Nope, it doesn't work like that. Such BS. Then in the conversation, I find out that they only have treated the interior of my home on their first visit and not since even though I gave them the garage code to get in. Again, back and forth with the notes. How did they get in the first time if you didn't have the garage code? Such BS. So dissatisfied. They hadn't spayed the inside of the house and now I have moths. I feel like I was being handled. They didn't refund my money when I did cancel. They told me that I didn't cancel when I did. And even though I have paid through the end of the month, they did treat wouldn't treat my house when it was scheduled for. Say away!! read more

After using Spring Green for a few years and installing a Ring Cam, I caught the technician not applying the treatment in front or back yard. After calling company I was told another application would be applied. That never happened. I was curious as to why my lawn never had granules and never looked to be improving but instead looked in worse condition. I will file a complaint with the BBB and uploading the video to YouTube and websites to show their "bait and switch rip customers off" technique. We prepaid for a year's treatment so we didn't have to worry about our yard, knowing it was being regularly treated by professionals. Our yard was in average condition before Spring Green provided their services, and now it is left in a significantly degraded state. FALSE ADVERTISING!!! Beware of this lawn service. We received brochures in the mail to try their lawn services stating that if we were dissatisfied for any reason at all, they would guarantee us a refund. Our lawn was already lush and green with a few weeds in the backyard. So, we decided to try one of their packages to save us time and to see if they could make our lawn better. We were cautious that too much spray would burn the lawn, so we requested that they use granules instead. The lady rep said it would be no problem. The first treatment they used granules, but thereafter they treated the lawn with spray (disregarding our request) and we saw our once lush green lawn literally shrivel up and die within a few weeks. No amount of water could save it. It was completely burnt out! (We took before and after pictures that verifies this.) Even our friends and neighbors were totally stunned. They had never seen our lawn in such a dire condition before. So, we immediately discontinued the service and requested a refund. We then applied our own natural fertilizer we had used in the past to the lawn which enabled it to survive the damage done by SpringGreen. To make matters worse, even after destroying our lawn; the guy kept showing up at our door wanting to continue with more spray treatments. So, we repeatedly told him 'No.' We had already written to Spring-Green Lawn Care several times over to discontinue/cancel the service and had requested a refund, but they just completely ignored us. Instead, they sent us an invoice requesting payment for the last treatment which had completely burnt-out our lawn. We were totally dissatisfied with the service, and they refused to issue us a refund which their brochure guaranteed. Without a doubt, this is FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION and FALSE ADVERTISING. After months of avoiding our requests for a refund, they closed the account and sent it to a collection agency instead for $59 (The amount they should have refunded to us.). No mention of a refund, or payment for the damage our lawn incurred. We are in the process of reporting bad business practices against Spring-Green Lawn Care by filing a complaint with the Office of the Illinois Attorney General Consumer Protection Bureau/Division, the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the FTC. They should not be doing business under false pretenses or via false advertising. read more

We used spring green at our house and after a one application we have more weeds than ever before. They are not responsive to over multiple calls and do not call back as indicated to schedule more services. We are not happy about the amount of weeds nor especially the lack of customer service which has been zero at this point. Hi I started using spring Green a year and a half ago and it was the best thing I ever did my front lawn was so bad it looked so ugly and dead and dry and brown and burnt looking and now my front lawn looks so great I will never use another lawn service ever again And I talked to Amy Stevens who works in the call center and I told her I couldn't take theses ants anymore they came early this year I deal with Carpenter ants airwicks spiders small ants and she Suggested there pest control she went over everything thing that pest control does. I am really mixed on this service. I think they do weeds and grubs well but there are multiple areas of my lawn that they have burned out with chemicals and I have no grass. They also have been irresponsible with the Fertilizer and killed a number of my flowers in the beds. I have seen the technicians that have come through and they seem to not care very much about the health of my lawn or gardens. They just apply the chemicals as quick as they can and then leave. It's bad. Lastly I have expressed my concerns to Spring Green before and they just ignored me and never did anything to help. I buy entire entire season lawn care that costs me over $400. Myreic did our lawn application & he was horrible. A "professional" came & did our lawn a month ago... he didn't ring the door bell to let anyone know he was here or that he was done! Luckily I didn't let our German shepherd out because the chemicals they use can make him very sick! We complained about it.. they apologized & said it wouldn't happen again. Clearly everyone didn't get that memo because it happen AGAIN yesterday. This time I let my dog out thinking they hadn't come yet. He was out for about 15 mins before I realized he was playing with the little flag they leave. When we questioned early spring dandelions they applied additional weed control at no charge to cure the problem, and followed up with us to see if we were happy with the results. When I try to do the whole weed/feed thing myself, my lawn does not looks good at all. That's just a fact. Yes, I guess I could do it cheaper, however, I never seem to get the "schedule" right and my spreader drops too much in spots (leading to burn). My lawn looks great due to the weed/feed program I use with Spring Green. I love my lawn, and it looks super-- that's all on Spring Green. Sure there's a weed here or there. But to be fair, they're always willing to come out and talk with me me if I have a problem (which isn't often). Sometimes I wish I was home to chat with the technician so I can bring to his attention some spots he might be missing. Worth the investment, if you love a lovely lawn like I do. And I really do! As long as I can afford it, I'm going to continue using Spring Green. read more

They are done with your lawn in less than 4 minutes, don't seem to care if they've got the whole thing or not. Be VERY careful if you sign up for a seaon-long 5-treatment plan. Once you do, they will show up the next Spring following without notice, because your service is considered permanent with them until you get on the phone to cancel it. And if you add a one-time service (like core-aeration), they add that to the following year's plan and show up without notice to do the core aeration again the following year. read more

Spring Green just sprayed the lawn of the neighbor across the street on a very windy day (18 mph; gusts to 30 mph). The chemical smell was so strong, I had to come inside the house; I had been eating and working in the back yard. I went up to the guy (Todd) applying the chemicals and asked if he shouldn't be applying pesticides on such a windy day. Todd's attitude was less than stellar. He said I'd be smelling it even it it wasn't windy; didn't really seem to care. I called Spring Green and talked to the manager,Dave Craigo, and he said technicians are advised not to spray if it's too windy, and he said he'd speak to Todd. He said Todd was applying Triplet, an herbicide, and that there was a miniscule chance it would affect my landscaping. I looked up Triplet, and the instructions clearly say that it should sprayed when there is no wind. The active ingredient of Triplet is 2-4-D, a carcinogenic component of Agent Orange, and it has a lot of other nasty health effects. The instructions say to wear long sleeves, gloves, eye protection, etc., and to apply walking backward. Todd was wearing sunglasses; maybe he had gloves; I didn't notice, but he was wearing short sleeves and walking forwards - into the spray, basically violating most of the application warnings. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! One star is truly too generous for this "company". The customer service is as dreadful as can be. They continually sprayed only part of my property. I had weeds and asked that they come out to spray for them. I work out of the house and made myself very clear, that when the guy comes out, he ring/knock so that I could discuss with him 1) my property line- which they can't get right; 2) my weed problem. The guy called me the day before he came out. He agreed to ring the bell BEFORE doing anything. He did not. He sprayed and left a scribbled note on the back of a Mapquest printout telling me that he sprayed. Not long after that my lawn was half dead. Whatever he did to rid the lawn of the weeds, killed the lawn. I waited to see if it would grow back. It did not. I called the office multiple times. I was told that I would get a call back from a manager but NEVER did. Never. I called the corporate office. Same problem. Never received the promise call back. I finally spoke with someone who said that they would review the $35 bill (since I had no intention of paying it). While I waited for a call back from that review, I received a collections notice for the money. At this point, the company claims that the dead grass was from some kind of bug and that they seeded the area. I contend that the guy seeded the EXACT area that he killed where the weeds once were. Yes, they killed the weeds. But they also killed the grass and were completely unavailable to discuss it. Dave or Scott are the managers at the Cicero office who would not respond to me. Rick is the manager at the corporate office who has not called back when promised. Small claims court is next. STAY AWAY FROM SPRING-GREEN!! read more
