Large pool of urine in the corner that wasn't cleaned. They just sprayed it with deodorizer.
    Christopher J.

I remember what this place was like when it was the Healthplex. It was the best game in town second to none...Since it has been taken over by the YMCA it has taken an extreme nose dive. Management is non-existent and so are the lockerroom attendants who are supposed to keep it clean and hygienic. The place is filthy dirty. Mold and mildew everywhere, especially downstairs. Hasn't had a proper cleaning since it was the Healthplex. Used Bandaids laying around the floors of the hot tub and visible buildup of mold and mildew everywhere in the showers. Nasty people in the lockerroom trim their body hair and there were several hairballs on the floor the size of baseballs. They sat on the floor for a week before someone decided to clean it up (probably a guest). Last week someone urinated on the carpet in the locker room (probably a disgruntled guest). It was reported but because the staff is careless and lazy they decided to spray some deodorizer on it and call it a day! GROSS!! It still smells like urine in that area to this day. Tom Gallagher is the director of this facility and should bow his head in shame. There's no reason why these things should be going on. They had plenty of time to get this place in order since it was taken over. They just don't care about people's safety or else the place wouldn't be a health hazard. So many people who were members for over a decade decided to leave and now I see why. Those people are being replaced by new people who have no respect for the facility or others. Such a shame..If I thought this place was going to improve I would consider staying. But it continues to get worse. Time to find a new gym!

This place is absolutely horrible. Literally go to any other gym. This place stinks and the customer service is very subpar.

When I showed up at this location, the person working the check in counter told me they do not accept this, and he does not know what this is. He said they do not have any sales people in the premises, so he does not know to verify this. He was a little standoffish, and acted like he couldn't be bothered. It was a good thing, my friend who has a membership, and at least was able to get me in as a plus one. Please, train your staff how to do this. First impression counts, and I was not happy with the treatment I received.

The sauna is well-maintained and incredible. What makes this club. What is the driving force behind this club is a gentleman named Chris. I believe Chris is in charge of maintenance, but he seems to do so much more. The club is incredibly clean. Rarely is a machine down. Chris is a constant at this club. He is quick to say hello, and he is a very positive presence. I believe Chris is so well liked that members got him a Christmas present. Great club. Great vibes Far far superior is so many ways to a so called elite club like Broomall which feels like you are in a mall, the vibe is poor because staff is generally unfriendly, unhappy to be there and nothing seems to work. Sauna and steam room both haven't worked for a very long time. I know members who gave left bc of no steam, no sauna. I know members who have left bc of staff like Andrew and others. Broomall is a very hard gym to enjoy, and vs. Springfield, there is no comparison. If it comes down to people; Springfield wins big.

You can even get a 1 day pass online and not have to make actual contact nor is it expected probably. For the monthly pass, with no enrollment fees, mind you, you would need to make an appointment the first time around. If you can make it at least 5 times to the gym within the month, then it is worth getting the 24-7 access by the month. Most gyms wanted to charge me an enrollment fee for a partial one month period, and it was just not worth it to do that for me. Most gyms don't have 24-7 access and those that do will tack on this enrollment fee. I was planning to work out manually but then I had thought of this gym and tried asking and glad I did! There are showering facilities which I wouldn't have expected, but it's super nice to know that I don't have to leave sweaty and head straight back home if I don't want to. Definitely a potential incentive to keep working out and makes it feel less like a stressful event. One of the showers doesn't even work currently, but there are two others that do. The toilet paper rolls look worn out and it feels like if they were fixed, some musclehead might accidentally break it again by pulling too hard on it. Another one, during one time I was there, the water was accidentally left on and I turned it off, I could see how one might be in a hurry and not have closed the faucet all the way. You just try to do the right thing with minor things like that. Most clients probably would prefer to drive home and use their own comfortable shower rather than the one provided here. There are also a few bottles of wipes provided, but I was probably the only one who would use them or maybe they would only be used by others if sweat got on the equipment. There's a whole array of apparel from online that can be shipped directly to you and pictures of history and pride of the gym and the owner's past interests and successes. I can't fully appreciate the equipment that is here nor understand how to use much of it. I tried to look what equipment was what and how to use it when I could and sometimes I just did things by looking and feeling them out enough but making sure I could handle the weights and such if things didn't quite go as I expected. The only thing I wish this gym and most gyms could have is an optional local community event to get together and just chit chat once in awhile, maybe like every month or 2 or 3 months. I have run into a few that do this or did this once in a rare occasion to try it out, but it is a way to try to build community so that I'm not just showing up and leaving. Gyms that have classes, as I can't make those regularly, I'm not able to socialize that way. So, the classes have become not a big deal to me. The personal trainers I've tried at other gyms is hit or miss, more miss The trainers I tend to like to work with the least are the ones that have been hired through a mainstream gym because many of these people only want to work with certain clientele and they may do things like not show up to their appointment or put someone else in place when that is not the standard practice at most gyms (and this probably should be the standard practice at most mainstream gyms.) They are trying to go for the "relational" connection building, but most gyms are way too transient for this on both the client and staff sides to be effective. A few reviews have said that one can just ask others for help. While I probably could've, I did feel like as a non-jock, I would be intruding on someone else's workout and if I asked them something, what could I offer them back that they would want? Sometimes, a "thank you" might be enough, but I guess living in this world and how it's changed and socially, not for the better, I feel uncomfortable without more context. Even something as simple as I recognize that brand name on your shirt or something "generic" but thoughtful like that could be enough. I think there are people who are probably really nice, but some that would be super annoyed. You don't always know 100% but you just get that vibe. Even things more in my space and YelpE, and even in things where I definitely level off enough with others, I have not built the tight friendships one might expect. A few people did say "hi" when I was least expecting it, and one person ended up going into the gym even thanking me for "letting him in", but I wasn't actually letting him in and I didn't want to create an unnecessary conflict. I also just wanted to leave the gym at that time too. It was safe to assume he had a valid pass and just wasn't finding his pass or working the system right. This slew of gym types is typically less advertised I believe as a Baltimore friend thought this type of gym didn't exist near him.

As a stay-at-home mom I really needed something unique to help me get back into shape after my second baby. I am not comfortable leaving a newborn baby with gym babysitters and I don't want to pay for a private babysitter just to exercise. After much research, I found THIS! Moms on the Move is a cardio/weight training class that allows me to take my baby with me to exercise, and it's during preschool hours so I don't have to take 2 with me! Plus I get to chit-chat and have interaction with fantastic women while I exercise. It's not just for moms with babies either, or moms, or babies. Peace thru Strength offers every type of fitness class, personal training, and group exercise you can dream up and with class times that fit anyone's schedule. One of the best parts is that it is PAY AS YOU GO! No monthly gym membership that you have pay for regardless of how many times you exercise. Plus, you'll be hard pressed to find better prices in the area. I know I sound like an advertisement. I'm not - it's just that awesome.
