I am quite pleased with the Doctors and staff at SC. I do wish there was a more receptive attitude for medical marijuana. I am 75 years old and not looking for any mind altering experience, but I do qualify as I have RA, and a number of other painful nerve and spinal problems. Pain medication in pill form make me sick to my stomach and I desperately need an alternative. Any rule has exceptions ( Doctors are told not to sign forms qualifying patients conditions for these products) but so far I haven't made the grade. My requests have brought a resounding "NO"! Paul Phillips was my primary care physician from 2005 to 2025. My blood work indicated that I was hypercalcemic in 2018 among other issues that were VERY OBVIOUS that I needed to see someone. He diagnosed me with depression, anxiety and Ritalin instead of looking at my charts. At no point was I referred to a psychiatrist. I was planning to commit suicide because I was in so much pain due to a hyperparathyroid issue and my brain chemistry being utterly destroyed by this negligent BRO doctor. My sister also became addicted to Adderall which is really common, also almost committed suicide. The office workers are just trying to make it and it's not their fault Springfield Clinic only cares about making money. They hire and fire regularly so they can pay people less. Do not go here. Billing practices are questionable and talking to the billing department is an exercise in futility. I saw a doctor in a satellite clinic and had to call and wait repeatedly for injections I got monthly because they hadn't gotten the medication from Springfield. That doctor subsequently left the clinic and I was a victim of patient abandonment when I received a letter saying basically "your doctor left, you're on your own". They do not treat you well, difficulty getting appointments especially when you have Medicare and heaven forbid you have a chronic health condition. I was told by a nurse that my case was too difficult. They seem to cherry pick the patients they want to treat and if you have more than one medication, everything is a meltdown. I was blamed for being too difficult and medications were listed that the doctor has never prescribed to me by primary care dr but handled by another Dr for my muscular dystrophy. I really think they should stick to community medical care and not try to advertise themselves as a state of the art medical care facility that handles a higher level of care because they most certainly are not. I was surprised and disappointed to see that Springfield Clinic changed the billing for my physical appointment simply because I asked a question when prompted. The nurse practitioner asked if I had any questions, and I asked one -- which led only to a brief response advising me to speak to a gynecologist. There were no tests, no medication, no treatment involved--just a suggestion. Yet, that short exchange was enough to alter my billing classification. I spent more time waiting for a routine shot than I did speaking with the nurse practitioner. It feels unreasonable and unfair to penalize patients for engaging in the appointment as encouraged. read more

My husband paid a bill twice because they sent out a second bill and added more charges to it after the first bill was paid. My husband did not realize it included charges he had already paid for. Our problem is getting a refund of the overpayment. He has called them several times about it over several months and we still do not have a refund. Next time we receive a bill from them, I am going to tell them to take the payment from the overpaid amount that has never been refunded. This is just ridiculous that they have not issued a refund yet. read more

First- in every health organization you will find good and awful care givers. They certainly have more good providers than bad. However communications here are very poor between patient and doctors. Recently the clinic asked all patients to sign up with an online system that requires one to verify all information including past residences, car buys, and current debt. I wasn't willing to do that, and therefore is causing a horrible experience trying to call in for prescription refills and visits. It's a bigger cluster "F" if you need to talk to a nurse. I was called back 2 months later from a neurologist's office because they didn't have enough staff (even worse as of Mar 24). **If you are looking for job, BEWARE of 2nd floor supervisor "Valerie" in procedures- I caught her reviewing a newbie's absences in front of patients and other employees and had decided to "talk" to HR. Shortly after dr Byers left the practice the new management took over and It seems the facility is lacking bed side manners to patients, as well as personal relationship building skills, understanding and compassion for their patients physical and mental health. The staff and quality management blame the new computer system they recently switched over to. I understand new systems however I believe the staff should take responsibility for their negligence to follow up on issues reported several times yet still remaining unresolved with continued calls and no effort or attempts to resolve and also responsible for customer care and follow up with their medical needs. Multiple months in a row i made early request and repeated calls and attempts to have my life saving medications refilled to avoid withdraws or other dangerous side effects(not opioids or controlled substances) I have been on the medications for over a year. Our regular pharmacist in Raymond Marsha retired and she had always advocated and followed up for her customers like family but in july 2024 they closed the pharmacy. After having to address the issue multiple times calling the Hillsboro office staff and even doing a conference call with Express Scripts the nurse was rude unsympathetic and advised she did her part even though the pharmacist on the call was advising it was not and the prescriptions couldn't be filled without authorization from the Drs office leaving me and emotionally distraught and crying. I was forced to contact Quality Management 217-528-7541 to place a formal complaint and send it to the office Manager at Hillsboro office Carrie Knox. I was also told the calls were not recorded to back up my allegations of how i was treated by staff. It was not until after the complaint was filed that my prescriptions were properly authorized to be refilled aprox 1 hour later. I was told verbally how very sorry that i was put in that position and put through all the stress and mental anguish and how importantmental health is and how serious they take mental health and well being for patients. Then 2weeks later i received a warning letter advising " Our records indicate on 8/8 /24.You exhibited inappropriate behavior this included yelling at the front desk staff along with the nursing staff.This is a violation of springfield clinics , patient rights and responsibilities , which states you were responsible for being considerate of the rights of other of other The rights of other patients and clinic personnel while we care about your health and well-being we cannot tolerate this type of behavior this letter serves to inform you that this type of behavior continues or is repeated. We will be forced to discontinue your care with our office. We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us electronically signed Molly Gilbert MD. Not even signed personally. I never exhibited or inappropriate behavior unless begging pleading and crying for a resolution is considered such behavior. i'm sure that the doctor didn't look into the whole reason that the phone calls were ever made and how many were made as well as the whole issue created by lack of staff to follow up on repeated requests. After receiving this letter in total disgust and disappointment at the audacity of the doctors and springfield clinic staff in Hillsboro I placed another complaint and advised I would be placing an online review to make other aware. The only reason i even stay as a patient of the clinic is because of the love and understanding of 2 of the Sr staff there Renee the amazing receptionist and my practitioner Dawn Young in the Raymond Office only because of my long personal relationship with them they always give exemplamentary care, fabulous, bedside manner, compassion and understanding to their patients. I'm not sharing a review about care. I'm writing about the billing experience. I had a horrible experience with being over billed with my insurance payments being misapplied. I copied a multi page bill and made notes on every page. None of it was apparently ever looked at. I received a second bill, called and was told I did owe the amount and to contact the insurance. Called insurance who had to initiate a conference call with them. They agreed on the phone there was an error. Even after all that, I am not assured that the issue has been resolved. I went to Dr Jessica Moja with my sister who has a rare condition called LCH. When I asked the dr questions she called me argumentative in my sisters chart. I'm guessing she didn't care about my sisters health care and is more focused on her expecting you to believe everything she says. also she was suppose to send my sister to Barnes and waited over a month to do so. we had to call and request her to do it again. awful doctor. Saw a new doctor at the clinic. Tests were done. After no one contacted me for weeks, I initiated multiple contact. Went thru medical records to obtain my results. Finally, a nurse called and she billed me to tell me my test results, which is BS. Got conflicting information from same nurse and surgeon before and after my procedure. Neither staff nor surgeon have responded to requests for help as of the writing of this review. Ended up in the ER with pain was so bad caused by an infection. After giving Springfield Clinic a poor survey, someone designated to contact people who post unfavorable reviews called and collected information to schedule an appointment. LESSON LEARNED: Know your medical history BEFORE going to the Clinic. Read labs and reports of your prior physicians. Anticipate the Meds you need prescribed by the ER. Six (6) times I was transferred to allergy. My telephone calls were NEVER connected. Multiple times I've sat on telephone hold waiting for urology staff to pickup the phone only to be disconnected after 22 minutes, then have to call back and wait another 26 minutes before staff pickup. So, I wrote a review about Dr Wietfeldt (so called Hacker), About how he hacked up the boobs and eyes of a special lady and Triva with Springfield Clinic reached out to me with concern. I explained to her what Wietfeldt did to her and how bad it turned out at that time she actually sounded sincere and concerned about my problem and said she would try and help get something done. Well 6 weeks later, I tried to reach out to her to see if they were going to do anything financially and curve what Wietfeldt's ability should be before he destroys another family's life. But I guess Springfield clinic doesn't care about the patients just making more money for the clinic. Urgent care nurses in particular "Mary " at the 6th street location was very rude. She is definitely in the wrong profession. Dr. Abraham was ok he did not manage his time appropriately. I was left waiting for over 45 minutes and no one checked on me and when I popped out the room to inquire. Meany nurse Mary had a ready made excuse as to why which had nothing to do with me. They could have informed me by just checking in. My visit helps pay both the doctor and nurses salaries. They should be a little kinder and more human. I wish there were better options in my city as I would definitely not go to Springfield Clinic but when you live in a small town you don't have very many choices and you have to deal with the community that also works there. Mary needs to take a class or two in customer service, patient care and being a better human. I made a complaint to quality assurance but who knows if that will go anywhere. read more

Make no mistake, Springfield Clinic first and foremost is a business. They severed ties with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Both parties having expressed their viewpoint on the fundamental reasons why, and each laying blame on the other. Initially, my family and I simply felt caught in the middle, but after a recent incident, I can better understand the explanation from BCBS. Due to age, I was scheduled for my first colonoscopy, and happily there were no problems found. Dispappointingly, Springfield Clinic insisted on a unneeded office visit, not with the doctor performing the procedure but with their Nurse Practiioner. Ultimately the unneccessary office visit and their refusal to rectify a coding error in their part, meant a $400 bill. None of that should have been the case for a preventative screening that BCBS can normally cover in full. Here's hoping that this review helps someone avoid some unwarranted financial burden in dealing with Springfield Clinic. read more

The several times I have called I have gotten passed around, since no one seems to know the names of the nurse practitioners. When I finally get sent to the right department, I am put on hold for 10 min or 5 min or I get tired of being on hold. The gastroenterology receptionist is rude. I was given the wrong address for an appointment and then given an address that was not one of the clinics. It is ridiculous that 4 or 5 offices have the same exact name. We have not even seen the Dr. and I am very leery of this practice. read more

I scheduling my 3yr colonoscopy, I called insurance company to be pre-approved. I was informed my insurance did NOT cover routine colonoscopies. I immediately called Dr. Petermans office to cancel the procedure. The nurse told me they had already preapproved the procedure with the insurance company because it was NOT routine. I have family history (with death) of colon cancer & I myself have had polyps removed last two procedures. I EMPHASIZED to her there was NO WAY I was going to have it done if insurance did not cover. She ASSURED me it was. After receiving bill for over $4,000 for the procedure the insurance company did Not pay, I spoke with Anna in billing who told me the nurses CODED the surgery wrong (she said she was going to have a talk with them about it). I asked her if she could rebill it with correct codes & she said it wouldn't make a difference (?). She then offered to give me a $500 rebate/discount off my bill & set up payments of $150 per mo instead of $170. Mighty big of her. So thanks to incorrect coding I got strapped with financial burden of $3500. Good thing procedure went well because there won't be another one before I hit 65. read more

I have an urgent problem and need to see a gynecologist. My primary care doctor tried to get me in to see one asap at SPRINGFIELD CLINIC. They are not seeing any patients who have Medicare right now. I have state Ins with Medicare. I also called and begged the lady who answers their phones to please get me in to see any gynecologist and explained how urgent my problem was, but she said she couldn't help me. The soonest my primary care doctor could get me in at SIU was April 6,2023. It sounds like SPRINGFIELD CLINIC is discriminating against elderly patients. There should be a law against turning away elderly patients who need critical care. I also called the emergency room at memorial hospital and ask if I came there if I could see a gynecologist. They said there were none on staff. I find it asinine that with all the gynecologist in Springfield that I may be forced to go to St. Louis!!! What is their problem??? read more

Just went to see an ENT here today. I won't say her name but she was very disrespectful. I've had tonsil issues for a long time and got referred here from my primary doctor. She seems like a great doctor but needs better work with patients. She made me feel embarrassed to be there. No one should feel that way, especially from someone whose job is taking care of people's health and well being. I was in and out within 10 minutes. She didn't seem to care or think about what questions I have and just wanted me out of there. I was referred to Springfield Clinic by my primary care physician at the Veterans Administration. The VA authorization was for a colonoscopy with full payment from the VA. Dr. Shuster was the attending and the procedure was uneventful and quite professional. From there everything went downhill quickly when it came to billing the VA. The Clinic never attempted to bill VA even though the VA authorization said there would be no charge to the veteran/me. Unfortunately the Springfield Clinic billing office is no where as professional as the attending staff. Apparently no one in billing can read nor follow directions. I was never billed for the procedure; however, I was referred to a collection agency and have had my credit report destroyed by the Springfield Clinic. I learned of the collection referral while trying to secure and auto loan...and was rejected by multiple lenders because of Springfield Clinic. I have since retained an attorney and will seek damages from the Clinic. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Steven Omarro at Springfield Clinic ID, for about 7 months, and 4 visits. On the 1st visit, his lack of bedside manner and rudeness left me in tears. I was willing to overlook this as his his staff worshipped him and everyone talked as though he was a god who could diagnose everything. On subsequent visits, I noticed his dictation reports stated he was examining me, when in fact he did not. I brought this up to 2 separate staff members and the registration dept, and no one cared. At my 4th visit, I reported severely worsening symptoms, and concerns with the prescribed medication (long term doxycycline, which my pharmacist was very concerned about). He blew me off and essentially said, "take it or don't heal, your choice." I noticed my complaints often did NOT wind up on his dictation reports. I questioned his diagnosis based on further research of my symptoms, but he wasn't willing to discuss or listen to me at all. My research also showed that my diagnosis of Q-fever had only been reported in about 50 people nationwide, with most out west, yet he started bragging that he was currently treating "Many" patients with Q-fever, which I found strange. After my symptoms continued to worsen, I sought a 2nd opinion from a different clinic altogether. There, it was discovered that he had completely mis-diagnosed me, and caused additional physical illness due to keeping me on the doxycycline for so long. My new ID specialist, who was wonderful, reviewed all the tests Dr. Omarro had ordered for me, and explained that he had never even ordered the proper tests for diagnosing Q-fever. Be careful with this doctor. FTR, My issue wound up being an environmental allergy, and I have improved tremendously Under competent care. read more

I work in the medical field and deal with people who are on Medicaid so I know the system. I cannot be more discouraged and offended by Springfield Clinic. After establishing a doctor with the clinic, they decided after the first visit not to accept his insurance or to film his chronic medications. The staff that tries to find a doctor in the system for the one I am helping was rude and inefficient. I only pray that along with you that reads this is some one from the clinic. Springfield Clinic's billing is atrocious. I went to my primary with Memorial for x-rays following an auto accident in early February. I then received a bill from Springfield Clinic the week after as the radiologist was from Springfield Clinic and not Memorial. I was sent a bill for the services, which I paid. Last week I got a bill with the same service and amount as well as two more services from the February visit that have magically appeared. Mind you, it is now April! Not only that, I am now marked as past due. I needed to straighten this out as I am turning in all bills to get them to be reimbursed by the other driver's insurance...who are now contesting repayment of the first bill. I just contacted Springfield Clinic billing which is handled up north by a secondary entity as there is no direct way to speak to them locally about billing. I'm in the process of attempting to straight this out. Springfield Clinic has never had a stellar reputation here in town and it's current endeavor to get the state legislature to sugar coat it's propensity for poor service and questionable billing as it battles BC/BS really makes this lack of quality and professionalism hit home. To those not familiar with Springfield Clinic I highly recommend looking to the other three medical entities in the Springfield area. I cannot recommend Springfield Clinic at all! read more

We requested our medical records to be transferred to a new doctor outside of Springfield Clinic for a 2nd opinion. We told them that we had an upcoming appt and that they needed transferred by that date. Well guess what? They werent transferred, even with our calling and letting them know once again that they were needed to be transferred. They still have not been. I'd like to preface this review by saying I NEVER write reviews, so you can take this one to the bank! Also, I've been going to Springfield Clinic for years, and have never had a bad experience with ANY of the other people regardless of what roll they've played in my health treatment plan, actually they've all been GRRREAT!!! However... Went to the walk-in Ortho Clinic at Springfield Clinic and met with Dr. Western. I told him I had neck/shoulder/arm pain, which I found out later that week (From another, more attentive Dr.) was a nerve disorder called Severe Cervical Stenosis with Myelopathy. Dr. Western didn't even let me finish telling him all my symptoms before shaking his head, scoffing at my descriptions of the pain & basically dismissing me. I get that he's a simple Walk-in Clinic Dr., and even Dr.s need to start somewhere, but it was plain to see to ANYONE that I was in severe pain and obvious I'd not slept for two days prior. He apologized as he was leaving and excused his actions by saying "there is an opiod epidemic out there, and we can't be too careful", but there is no excuse for the belittlement and berating he put me through (in front of my friend/driver). I hope no one ever has to endure the embarrassment I did! read more
