Very helpful. My psychologist is great. He has made a big difference in my life. The nurse practitioner was great, too, but she's leaving.

Review Highlights - Springfield Behavioral of Pennsylvania

To the people complaining about an appointment taking a long time for psychiatry, and needing to see a therapist to see a psychiatrist; that is pretty standard in the mental health field.

This place was beyond unprofessional. I will not be mentioning any names…read more I went here prior to reading any reviews and just based my judgment based on the profiles of the therapist. I met with a lady in February who spent 15 of my hour discussing the copay and insurance AFTER i already paid. I decided to switch to another therapist instead. I was running a few minutes late and this therapist wanted to let me know of all her other clients and her busy schedule. I felt rushed being that she wasn't able to atleast make me feel like the time that did have left would be valued. I felt very insecure with her and instead of making a change in that she offered me a more intensive care. I have been seeing a psychologist for over 2 years and was never recommended to an InPatient Facility and I feel that was the absolute wrong diagnosis for someone that has a busy schedule and did not know much about me. I had a meeting with a Psychiatrist for a medical evalutation. The receptionist insisted I not show up, so I did not. The psychiatrist was unaware I was not going to be coming per the instruction of their receptionist. She read a few notes from what the first therapist had wrote and wanted me to undergo a program that she did take time to talk with me about. In fact, when she could not take my appointment she'd rather me check in with another doctor to get n medication BEFORE even meeting with me ever. I was insulted. I was stressed out through this whole process and it seems the faculty here are more concerned for themselves than he care of their patients. I got a call an hour and a half later about my card being charged and was highly aggravated and upset as I would have made my appointment if I was not directed to not show u for it.

Good practice with caring therapists. It's very easy for someone to leave an unhappy comment but…read morethere is much good about this place- flexible scheduling, diverse group of therapist, and quick to respond. I recommend.

This is a tough review to write, because it's the first experience we've had with a Partial…read moreHospitalization Program (PHP). For the uninitiated, there are multiple 'levels of care' within behavioral health treatment, from the most restrictive - Inpatient Hospitalization - to the least restrictive - routine outpatient therapy. In between you have: PHP - where you attend programming similar to Inpatient, but you return home in the evenings rather than being at the hospital 24/7. Residential Treatment (RTC) - where you go to a structured setting that supports therapeutic care as well as life skills/daily living. Intensive Outpatient (IOP), where you go to therapy 3-4 hours a day, 2-3 days a week. It's not required that you 'go through' all the different levels of care, or that you go to each of them. You can, say, discharge from Inpatient to routine outpatient, or you can step up from routine outpatient to IOP or RTC, depending on your situation. In our most recent experience, NMT admitted inpatient, stepping down to PHP, and he was sent to Horsham Clinic's Broomall, PA center. This center ONLY offers PHP services. We were not impressed. Now, NMT is not a fan of hospitalization (see my other reviews) but he does give credit where credit's due, and he felt both hospitals helped him. Not so much for Horsham. His general feeling is that first, group therapy only, no individual work. The groups are huge, 20 or so teenagers, which makes it hard to focus. Third, the counselors didn't always seem to have good control of the group, which is understandable given how many participants they had. I take it with a grain of salt, however given his past experience with honest feedback even of things he doesn't like, it's a small grain. I can only comment on what I saw. In short, I felt like my child was just another body to them. They never seemed to have a good sense of who he was and what his challenges were. Intake was great, very attentive listening. That's the best. His assigned SW didn't seem to have a sense of who he was or how he was progressing or even when they thought he should discharge - they asked us what we thought. Also, they called one day to leave an important message for me. I called back, found the entire voice mail 'unit' full so I couldn't even leave a message on another line. I called the next morning and left a message...which was never returned. Lastly, the psychiatrist did not seem to be particularly interested or understanding of him, they were writing and confirming meds only. "He seems really anxious" was met with nothing, except confirming his current dosage. It felt like he was just someone they had to move through a system. I'm sad, because I think that this could be a really great step for someone in his situation. I'm hoping first, that he never needs it, however second, if he does, that there's another program that will care about him more, have smaller groups, some individual time, and a voice mail box that doesn't fill up for every single phone in the clinic. I hope there's better out there, I really do.

I wouldn't even give them 1 star. If this is the only place you can send your child your better off…read moretaking your chances keeping them home. The staff is rude, you can not participate in your child's care, no progress updates at all, no family participation, your child is told to put their head on the desk the first 20 minutes of the day until staff gets organized. There is no individual therapy the kids are all bunched together in large groups with no structure among the staff and counselor calling the kids names and not understanding at all. The state needs to step in and shut this place down or impose heavy fines until they get themselves together.
