My experience with Merakey was extremely disappointing. I arrived on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 3:30 PM--well within their posted walk-in hours of 9 AM to 6 PM--expecting to complete my intake. From the start, the process was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I was wanded down and had my bag searched as if I were a criminal, which felt unnecessary and triggering for someone simply seeking help.
I spent from 3:30 PM to about 6:30 PM going through intake, meeting with staff, a nurse, and a case manager. Although they were polite, the process was slow and poorly organized. After waiting for hours, I was told I'd need to return another day because the next staff person was busy. It was frustrating to invest all that time and still be dismissed.
When I returned on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 5 PM--again during walk-in hours--I went through the same uncomfortable security process only to be told through the glass that they weren't taking any more people. The woman at the front desk was dismissive and unprofessional, showing no empathy or effort to assist.
On Friday, October 17, 2025, I received a voicemail from the case manager who had assisted me during my first visit. When I called back on Monday, October 20, after being turned away, I was told by a man (not my case manager) that I'd need to come back at 11 AM when they "open." This directly contradicted the posted hours online and showed a complete lack of organization and respect for people's time.
Having now experienced Merakey as both a former employee and a potential patient, this confirmed my disdain for how the organization treats its consumers. People seeking help deserve compassion and consistency--not confusion, indifference, or disrespect read more
