Westside Laundry is in a small strip mall near the corner of North Bend and Westwood Northern. The…read moreplace is unassuming and I've passed by for years. I have a washer and dryer at home, so little need for a laundromat. With a bunch of teenagers and a preschooler in the house plus working full time, something had to give and for me, laundry is my nemesis. I started taking my dirty laundry to laundromat offering drop off service. Westside Laundry is the third place I tried. Number one: the place is clean. The machines are older, in fact the entire place is older, but it is immaculately clean. Number two: It's a busy place. There's always someone there doing their clothes. It seems like a place with a lot of neighborhood characters, coming :/ to do some laundry and jaw with the employees and other customers. Number three: the drop off service CANNOT be beat! I'll bring in three or four garbage bags of clothes. One day later I pick up all my clothes, amazing great, folded nearly, hung, ironed even. The socks are sorted. None of the other places I've gone have taken such care with my clothes. I love that I can ask them to sort out specific items. My preschooler has grown out of his size 4 underwear and I asked them to set ask the size 4 undies aside. No problem! I ask for my red, black, out white scrubs to be hung on hangers but the blue ones to be folded? Sure! Number four: the price for laundry is 95 cents a pound. I'm not kidding! There's a drop off service on the east side that charges $1.50 per pound. This place is worth driving across the city with a minivan full of laundry. Luckily for me, it's almost in my back yard. Number five: there's a cute little homemade shrine to the Maytag Man. Shrine is probs too fancy a description, but I love looking at it. I smile every time I see it.

I will tell you what I had found there: The future. WaveMax Laundry is very clean both outside and inside. Absolutely nothing was dirty or even smudged on the tables and floors. What I thought was interesting, were the number of machines they had available, which is a plus. The rolling baskets were also in good supply. The young lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. She showed me where to purchase a WaveMax Laundry card, how to operate the washer, the dryer, and their settings. She had pointed to a machine which sanitized the water which was used in the washing process. I washed a large load and it only took 21 minutes. Drying was even quicker, as long as you have it on the right setting. My clothes came out clean, sanitized, and (eventually) dry. Unfortunately, I did not take advantage of the free wifi or the snack machine. They do offer detergent, fabric softeners and dryer sheets for a price. The dryer sheets came in handy, because it was the one item I had forgotten. WaveMax Laundry is what a future-focused laundromat should be, in my opinion. I would encourage anyone to give this place a try. It will be worth your time!

I stopped by to support a local shop and a young lady told me, on a Saturday, my jeans would be ready by the following Saturday for less than $20. I show up the following Saturday and a different young lady tries to give me several wrong clothing items. I explain to her I just have jeans. She comes back to say they're not here, she has no idea where they are. What? She says she will go get a manager. An older man also has no idea where my jeans are then proceeds to tell me they might with a seamstress, he has no idea when they'll be done, how there's a national shortage on pulleys for zippers (huh?), and he'll call me soon. He said the employee never should have said one week. He promised to ship me the pants once found, free of charge to take of the hassle. I explain that I have one more weekend there and can stop by the following Saturday. He is relieved, I leave, hoping they find my jeans and a pulley. I get a text on Tuesday that my jeans are in and ready for pickup. I show up the following Saturday. A different young lady helps me. My total is $28! Mind you, I didn't get these dry cleaned, they are still brand new and only needed a pulley. I was also told by the manager that these would even be shipped for free, I was just being nice by stopping back by. I asked if that was really the price, told that's what I owe to take my jeans, so I reluctantly did, but wow. What a mess! My jeans are fixed perfectly, 5 stars on the seamstress' work, but 0 stars for the false promises on when I'd be able to pick up and for how much. I never asked for anything for free but to charge me significantly more than quoted after the item went missing and telling me it would be free? Come on, stay true to something you said! The lack of effort/keeping their word and inability to know where a customer's item is screams unprofessionalism. I cannot recommend this place any less.
