Clean and most dog owners are friendly. To use this park you need to have a permit, which is the only bad thing about it. Bathrooms are available. It's those holes with the hollow toilets over these, so these literally stink. That's about as bad as it gets though. Ironically it smells even better in the actual dog park. Of course there's a few rules to follow, and these are posted at the entrance so you can't miss these. Bigger and smaller dogs have separate areas. There's amenities like water fountains and poop bags for free. Good place for dogs. It's mostly clean and safe. There's plenty around, from the lake to some trails.

It was very quiet while we were there, the one person we did meet did express concern that our kids were there. I noticed previous poster also said to leave kids at home. I have four kids, three upright and one fur baby. I can't (and wouldn't) "leave them at home" nor do I hire a babysitter so I can take my dog to the dog park. ‍ Please be kind to all the families with dogs and kids. We do our best to respect that this is a "dog park" not a people park. But my kids are excited to run and play with their fur sibling and so long as it's not a crowded day, I feel they should do so without the shaming. We take our dog everywhere, including the people park...and no one has ever told us we should have left our dog at home.

Unfortunately my dog would not walk unless he had a leash lol. It is a beautiful place to get your heart pumping. The only down side there is a lot of mud and millions of little white rocks so your car it is going to get dirty. Over all I had a lot of fun walking a little nervous but the park is really fenced all around and it had safe doors so your dog is not goi g to run away when someone comes in or walks out. Safe first it is actually more secure then a park for kids. Come and bring your doggy you will have fun

There are always dogs at the park for my pups to play with and there are always people wanting to walk and talk while I'm there. Sometimes I bring a book to read but a lot of the time I enjoy walking the path with a pack of dogs following behind!

There's a paved walk leading from the parking lot to the water and another side where you walk on grass to reach the fenced in area. It was a little confusing our first visit here as we didn't notice any clear signage directing us where to get to the water or other areas from the grassy path. Our pups enjoyed their visit very much and although the small body of water didn't look the cleanest, we still let them cool off and enjoy a swim. The picnic tables in a shaded area were appreciated on a hot day. Bring lot's of drinking water for you and your pet! Also, as with most dog parks, remember that any toys you bring for fetching are likely going to be "fair game" to the many other dogs you might see here.

There are, however, some folks that don't control their dog when they get over-excited or aggressive. I, too, have noticed that there is a lot of dog poop laying around. There are plenty of bags (free) and refuse cans to put the garbage in. It's a little small, but there are plenty of places to rest. My shepherd enjoys his time with his dog buddies and loves to walk the perimeter.

I understand this isn't the fault of the forest preserve but I just wish they maybe had security or cameras idk just in case? Children walk there too and people with untrained animals are putting people and other dogs at risk. Other wise it's a pretty area and nice they have poop bags. It's clean.
